Wilderness survival class, or a break from classes

So the first idea is meant as an open thread for a "wilderness survival" class. As a centaur born on Manta Carlos, Serra has lived in the woods all her life; she regularly goes out for nature walks, and is understandably more "at home" when surrounded by trees and foliage. As one of the few centaurs who have decided to regularly make contact with the city and nearby academy, she was just the right fit for the job when the school needed someone who knew the forest to chaperone a wilderness survival club, and later a proper class. Class times are typically in the late afternoon, with the occasional evening course for lessons on overnight camping, times are prone to vary due to weather conditions.

But behind the teacher, behind the mare who just couldn't be a ranger, Serra is still a young woman, particularly by the standards of her people. She's lived a few years now in constant contact with the city and school, but she still finds their customs rather strange. Perhaps she could make a friend?

Looking through both characters, I'd have to agree. Jax could be an interesting case, I like that they'd have that connection to the forest and disconnect from society in common. I don't think he'd bond with Serra in any way, but there'd at least be some sort of common ground.

As for Jarak, I rather like the idea you're presenting - the idea of someone who's life isn't in their hands, I feel Serra could relate in some small way given her own genetic failures. Furthermore, he would be the sort of person who probably wouldn't shy away from Serra, seeing how unusual it is for centaurs to roam so close to human settlements - even though she knows the forest so well, a part of her does feel like a fish out of water, with no one to share her stories with. A friend could do her a lot of good.
