Things were wondrous! Glorious even! The metallic maiden was squaring off against two tree-creatures, one of which she had already blown an arm off of. The other swung a tree trunk over her as she was sprawled on the ground from her assault, forgetting to be on stable ground before shooting her cannon. She was embedded on the ground, her form leaving a distinct hole, much like one would find from a cartoon, exactly in her form. Bits of her armaments had stuck to the club, but the damage was minimal. War rose from her hole and squared off the beasts. She held out her hands and they shifted into whirling saw blades, spinning at almost twice the speed of conventional saw blades. The center of the blades glowed a faint red before she spun around and sent one of the blades burying into the head of the treant with a missing arm, while the other blade hit the other treant's club at an angle, sending the blade ricocheting wildly between trees before lodging itself half-way into a tree behind her.

Eli couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had followed the War machine out of the museum, just to see where it went, and now it appeared to be fighting two large living trees.

It had blown an arm off one of them earlier but was knocked down by a fairly solid tree trunk. He was actually tempted to run or even to try using his power again if they spotted him. The war machine might have been able to take them on, but he definitely couldn't.

Peeking out from behind a -thankfully stationary- oak, He was watching as she morphed her hands into spinning blades, then launched them at the Trees. One was hit squarely in the... forehead? The other was hit and was sent back at the War machine. it didn't hit her though, instead hitting the tree Eli was behind, the teeth just barely poking out of the opposite side. Without thinking, he yelped, then clasped both hands over his mouth. Not again.

He dropped to the floor, thinking he was less likely to be seen that way.

The snapping twig meant nothing for the metal maiden, being more concerned with hysterical cackling as the crippled treant remained an enemy, the saw blade lodged in its head not yet killing it. That just meant more fun, didn't it? Two more blades appeared at her hands and began spinning again. As the trunk-club went for her again, her cannon fired, snapping it in two with a grand explosion that sent splinters everywhere. War leaped towards her assaulter and drove the spinning blades into its eyes. A loud, deep, horrid scream of agony followed as War pushed the blades deeper. The treant fell to the ground. That was the end of that one. Now she only needed to take care of the second one, which was easier to take care of as it was missing a limb. With deceptive quickness, it grabbed her and attempted to crush her in its hand, but being nothing but metal, War laughed at the pathetic attempt before her blades cut through the twigs it called fingers. As she landed on the ground, the single arm went crashing after her, trying to drive her into the ground. No luck as the spinning blades turned the arm into chips. As a final strike, War fired her cannon again, targeting the saw blade on the treant's head. Once it fell, she used her spinning blades to mercilessly reduce the treant's body to saw dust and wooden splinters, all the while laughing like a million maniacs all at once. After she was done, she collapsed to her knees and those laughs turned to sobs and cries, as if she had lost something very dear to her.

He was crouching down as low as he could, waiting for something to happen, but while there was another explosion, and splinters went flying past him, he was unharmed, and apparently unnoticed.

Slowly, he looked out from behind the tree, to find the War machine in a pile of woodchips, the remains of a Treant. Compared to its maniacal rage from before, the War machine now appeared to be grieving. Was it even possible for it to be sad?

Having only met it at its most dangerous, Eli was still wary, but he still felt obliged to at least comfort them. Sighing, he resigned himself to his decision.

Looking around for some sort of shield, he saw a large flat piece of wood nearby, it was part of the remains of one of the Treants, but not realising this, he hefted it up, and carried it in front of him.

He began to make his way over, slowly as if approaching a wild animal.

The crying of a thousand people continued. Some of the voices were agitated, some bare the mark of a mother who lost her child, a wailing that sends chills down the spine. These were just a few of the voices that made it through the filters of the mask. War's shoulders were slumped, her arms falling limply at her side. Take away the unsettling cries, and all that would be left was the forest's eerie silence, as if it were mourning along. Or every creature there were afraid to make a noise. At least, every creature but one. War turned her head slowly at the boy that she remembered seeing from her awakening. Why was he still there? "Stay away," one of the ghostly voices filtered out of the mask, barely audible with the crying of hundreds more. War didn't try to attack. Her bloodlust was satisfied. Briefly.

Despite the red flags popping up in his head, Eli continued to make his way over to the War machine. "Are...Are you okay?" He slowly asked.

She definitely knew he was there, and yet she wasn't attacking him. That was a good sign at least. Gingerly, he crouched down next to her, on the side opposite the turret. Best to stay on the safe side, he decided. Granted it was not the best, but she did form from bits of a tank and other weaponry.

The screaming was almost deafening, but Eli prevailed. Maybe it was just how she communicated?

War watched as the boy came closer despite the warning. He had a death wish. That must be the reason why he was following. What did he want? Couldn't he see that this might be a big mistake? War grew more frustrated the longer she tried to make sense of his actions. He must have wanted something. But what. Unfortunately, none of the voices wanted to ask that question, instead, a few repeated the mantra. "Stay away."

Eli took a deep breath. He heard the voices. Telling him to stay away, but Eli, for some reason even he didn't know, did not listen. Maybe with the emerging of his power, he thought he was invincible?

"Do you have a Name? I've just been calling you the War Machine." His heart was beating quickly. SHe was peaceful now, but earlier she blew a hole in a Treant, so he was still a little worried. "Maybe just, uh, War?"

It may be a little crude, but War would do. She was born in a War museum after all, maybe she was something related to combat itself?

"War." The word agitated her, she curled up, shaking as if she just had her stomach bombarded with cramps, aches and acid. "War," the voices repeated again, this time, for once, in eerie unison. She had her hands to her head, attempting to dig her own claws into her head and rip it apart. Groans of agony contrasted the single time everything was on the same level. There were screams and the weapons strewn about her being started vibrating. Suddenly she'd lift her head up and howled the most blood-curdling scream. Inhuman. As she screamed a black mist-like miasma seeped from her body, as if there was a raging fire from inside her. This miasma soon began seeping up from the ground itself, most heavily from the tree creatures she dispatched, all the while her scream not stopping. The miasma swirled around. Whether it was the trick of the light, or actually happening, the miasma formed twisted shadows of all manner of creatures, all writhing only to be blown away, mixing with the others and forming new shadows. A sense of dread fell as the miasma grew thicker. In the darkness, there were calls coming from everywhere. Men, women and children's voices all calling for something. Lost souls, crying out in desperation and agony. "MAKE IT END" one of the louder voice from War's filter came out. "KILL THEM ALL"

The first time she said it, he was a bit unsure, maybe she was just getting used to the name? The second time, however, Eli knew something was up. The screams filled his head, and he quickly stood up, taking a step back.

Looking around, Eli realised that the mist had appeared, seeping out of the dead Treants heavily, and... shapes began to form. Some were familiar, some were not, but they all were crying out in pain. They needed something.

"Who are you!" He yelled at the shapes, eager to be heard over the commotion. The sinking felling he felt was strong, but he had to be strong. Whatever these things are, they were no good and had to go.
