Why dream a dream that's tainted with trouble?

Charlotte stood in the empty corridor, leaning on a window sill while she looked out over the school grounds. Rain pattered against the window, in a slow steady rhythm. Closing her eyes she remembered the times when she would sit on the chair by the window, listening to the rain but only seeing darkness. But that was when her parents were alive.

Sighing she stood up, shoving her hands into the pockets of her PVC trench coat. Now she felt so...alone. Though that was nothing strange. She rested her head against the wall, closing her eyes again. Maybe someone would come along...Just maybe...

{Gar. Brain died. Crappy, but whatever.}

Charlotte's eyes snapped open, and for a few seconds she just stared at him. Studying him. Should she reply?
"Yeah..." A pause while she raised an eyebrow, "I'm fine. I think."
Why not, aye? She was lonely. And she had to give people at this school a chance if she wanted to make it...

She was thinking, was she okay? She didn't really know anymore. Nothing seemed to make sense. Suddenly her life was flipped upside down and she was lost.

{Sorry about shortness. Can't really think today.}

Charlotte would've smiled. If she could. It'd been so long since she had smiled, that happiness rare for her lately. She felt alone and friendless.
"Well, I don't seem to know anymore." She gave a shrug, as if that was a good answer.

She considered what he'd said, did she feel uncomfortable telling him?
"I'm Charlotte." Obviously not. She didn't know if he was a shaking hands type of person, so she left her hands stuffed in her pockets.
She'd started to chew on her lip as she didn't really know what to say, and it'd become a habit.

"It just seems to not be a part of me anymore. I sort of forget. No one ever asks me if I'm okay, so I don't think about it." She sighed, looking down at her feet. Now that she thought about if, why did noone ever ask her? Did she look off-putting?

Charlotte looked back up at him, never had anybody acted so...cheerful around her.
"What brings you here?" She bit her lip, did she really want to say? It still upset her to this very day.
"Well..." She paused, by now if any other person had been her they might've started crying. "...my parents were murdered just a few months ago. Everything I called home was gone. Destroyed."
She looked out the window, "And somehow I've found myself here."

"I guess." Charlotte sighed with a shrug of her shoulders. She pulled her trenchcoat tighter around her. Somehow this reminded her of when her parents would hug her...But for a long time now no one had ever hugged her. There was only her parents, and a nanny. All gone.

Looking at him directy in the eye she asked, "Are you really?" She'd tried not to sound rude, and hoped he didn't think she was. She wanted atleast someone to think she was an okay person. "It's not like anyone in this world cares about me anymore. I'm just a person who happens to be here. All alone..." She shuddered and turned to look out the window again.

That's when she felt it. As she'd placed her hand on the window sill she'd felt the small drop of water trickle down from her eye and hit her hand. Tears? An old experience of hers. But she couldn't stop it, and she trembled as more began to fall, having to lean on the wall for more support. "Why did this have to happen to me?" She whispered to herself. She covered her faces with her hands. Finally she had talked about it, and she now felt the sorrow.

{Didn't really write that very well. o.0}

Charlotte had never met a stranger who was being so kind to her, but she guessed that maybe not every stranger was a "stranger".
"I hope not...I'm getting sick of it..." She couldn't stand it anymore, it was so aweful. Having no one to talk to...

She felt him by her side and tried to stop her sobbing, she'd never cried infront of anyone else. "I guess," she wiped away her tears, "it's just I've never been able to talk to any about it." She turned around to look at him, luckily her mascara hadn't run. "Thanks for listening...It really means alot to me..."

{I'm gunna not be on from Monday till Thursday. 'cause my Nana died.}

Charlotte nodded, leaning her head once again against the wall. "I just don't understand why it had to be me...I never did anything wrong..." She sighed, thinking back to her childhood years...Waking up when the sun had gone down and going to sleep before the sun came up.

She looked at him, wishing there was some way for her to show that she was thankful. She couldn't even muster a small smile like millions of people can do whenever they want. Why was it so hard for her? She just looked out the window with a sad look in her eyes.
