Who Ya Gonna Call?

As Carmin walked through the halls lately, he'd started noticing stares. He typically tried to fly under the radar and other students usually let him. But that was different the last few days. He got uncomfortable when people stared at him, so it was seriously starting to bother him. He was fairly certain he knew what it was too. A rumor had been started a couple days prior that he had attacked some insect person with bug spray. He certainly wasn't fond of bugs, but he had never attacked another student over it. He didn't even carry bug spray with him, when he wanted to fight bugs he used a flyswatter. Always having that in his backpack probably wasn't going to convince people it wasn't him though. He needed to find out who it was and somehow get them to admit it was them to everyone. His social status was already pretty bad, and he was just starting to possibly make some friends, he couldn't let a dumb rumor like this ruin him.

Eventually, he came across a flyer on one of the school's walls. Some mystery solver? He considered calling them for a few minutes, weighing the pros and cons of doing so, then finally decided to make the call. What was the worst that could happen. He took out his phone, which was still rather new, and dialed the number on the flyer.

Oh, they picked up. Carmin listened as the Saturday of the Enigmas answered his call, quickly becoming more confident in his choice to call them. "H, hello. My name's Carmin, I'm a new student at SA. Somebody started a rumor here at the school, that I attacked someone else with bug spray." Carmin suddenly switched from sounding nervous to sounding concerned. "But it wasn't me. I promise."

"I'm not sure if this is something you do, but I was wondering if you'd be capable of tracking down the real culprit or the source of the rumor. Just anything to get to the bottom of what exactly happened here?"

It almost sounded like something was wrong, but they did say they'd look into it, so that was a good sign. He was considering asking if something was wrong but then decided against it. This person said they'd do it, that's all that mattered.

When asked to meet in person, Carmin ultimately agreed that it was probably for the best. "Yeah, I can meet. What time were you thinking?" He then considered that they might be free now too. "Or I could meet now if that's better. I'm just in the hallway at the school. Next to where you placed on of your flyers."

"Okay" Carmin hung up, a little nervous but willing to meet up with this random guy if it meant fixing the rumor. That's when he realized that he had no clue where he was supposed to go. They hadn't really said a meeting place. Or did he, Carmin had told him where he was. Unsure of whether or not he should call back, Carmin just waited by the flyer for the time being. Luckily, the person managed to find him before long.

Carmin looked up at them as they spoke. They were quite a bit taller than him, but he was used to this by now. They seemed nice in person too, so that was reassuring. "I am."

Upon hearing them introduce them self, something clicked in Carmin's mind. Up until that point he thought the mystery solving group was called Staurday of the Enigmas, But it now seemed that the group was just called the Enigmas, and that this person was Saturday from that group. He felt like an idiot.

"Nice to meet you Saturday. You really think you can figure this rumor thing out?" Carmin's expression was both nervous and hopeful.

Carmin nodded a few times at Saturday's response. It wasn't the for sure he wanted to hear, but it was at least honest. So little was known about the origins of the rumor that it was fair for him to not know if he could solve the case or not.

For now he could just answer any questions Saturday had and hope for the best. "I don't know when it started, I only heard about it last night, but I'm guessing it probably began a little before that."
