Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Someone had been asking about a lot of the missing persons, not long before they went missing from the sound of it. That alone was enough to warrant this visit.

The bar was unremarkable. It could have been any other dive in any other city, if it weren't for the exotic and supernatural clientele. Low lighting, dusty floors, and the smell of body odor and spilled booze everywhere. Not the best crowd to be mingling in if you were an upstanding member of society. But if you needed to hide from the authorities? Nobody here talked to cops.

The man you were looking for was one you really only knew from his description. Tall and muscular, with kind of a renegade handsomeness to him. A bad boy jock stereotype if ever you had heard of one. Blonde or really light brown hair, the talkers couldn't quite agree. But he apparently always wore the same jacket and came to this bar more than others. That was good enough for you to come looking.

And sure enough, there he was. Sitting at the bar enjoying a drink. Chatting up some no name street walker, maybe hoping to get a discount. Whatever he was doing, it didn't seem like he was particularly on edge.

Of course his search would lead to some seedy underground dive bar. Theo's expression lacked any signs of amusement at the sight before him. The inside was as disgusting as the outside. The fifteen year old was always under the impression that these types of places had their own sort of charm to them. This place smelled like cheap booze and unwashed ball sack. Just absolutely disgusting. His keen vision locking in on his target at the bar. He'd worked hard for this information. Theo wasn't leaving here empty handed either. Someone in here knew something.

He made a point of taking a seat next to his target. He was talking to a hooker. The guy reeked of loser, the jacket, the hair, that five o'clock shadow, he was gross. Definitely the type to hit on barely legal girls like he has something to offer. Theoretically he'd be an easy shake down, assuming things went as planned.

The bartender was eyeing him with a slight hint of dread. He probably recognized him from somewhere, and he knew. Theo in typical fashion opted to wave him over, "I'll take some Mott's Apple Juice on the rocks," he didn't even really want anything to drink, he just wanted to see if they'd do it.

His attention shifted to the man next to him. The peculiar order should have been enough to draw his attention at least for a brief moment. He'd play it like he was playing grown up in the bar. "So, these missing people, pretty crazy huh?" he asked it like he was a regular, like he belonged there. He could hear Simon and Alvin gagging in the corners of his mind. "Wonder what someone would kidnap that many people for..."

Theo wasn’t the only one scoping out the guy in the bar that night. Roth had been doing the rounds: Lady Claricia was using her sweet, angelic charms to obtain information out of nicer folks, while Roth was using more manipulative means. And often times his dick--let’s be real here.

Bits and pieces of information had led him to that bar—a place he had been too a few times before. He wasn’t a consistent regular, but he was familiar enough. In fact, he was pretty sure he had seen the guy in the jacket he was scoping out here before.

And…was that a kid? What the fuck was a kid doing in the bar?

Was Roth seriously going to piggyback off a kid to get information out of this guy? ...Did he have a fucking choice?

The hooker soon left, sick of the guy's shit, and Roth slid from his spot at a table and took her place at the bar—on the other side of the man from Theo.

“People disappear all the fucking time around here,” Roth chimed in, casually leaning an elbow against the bar as he spoke.

“Of course, just three or four is nothing. Around forty-fucking something in such a short amount of time is…another story.”

Roth then glanced up at the bartender.

“Gin and tonic. And—“ he gestured to the guy in the jacket. “Get my pal here whatever he wants. Hell, I’ll cover the apple juice, too.”

Chris sneered as the kid took a seat next to him. Cramping his style, running Gita off like that. And ordering an apple juice? Who the fuck was this kid, shouldn't he be in bed by now?

But the bar tender seemed weirdly on edge, like the kid was some kind of big shot crime boss. But this sure as hell wasn't Klaus Rosales. Then again, the next thing out of the kid's mouth put Chris himself was about the missing people. Fuck. And it looked like he couldn't just walk away, cause now there was some demonic jackass on his left.

"I dunno. Not my problem as long as they don't come after me, right? Maybe they shouldn't have been walking alone at night or whatever."

He couldn't be sure which one was making him more uncomfortable: the creepy-ass kid or the demon who looked like he might want to fuck him. Chris' hand instinctively went to his chest, feeling the rosary underneath his shirt. Moms had always said demons would come at him from every side. Didn't know it'd be so literal.
"I'm suddenly not very thirsty though. Fuckers ran off my good time for the night. Don't stay out too late, champ." He gave a sneer to Theo as he moved to stand, his hand never moving from the crucifix around his neck.

Theo's lips curled into a grin as he listened to Chris' response. This was the kind of thing people who knew something would say. The victim blaming just showed his misplaced contempt and failed justification for it. He didn't like the looks he was getting from him. Don't you dare look down on me, he thought. The demon that sat down on the other side of him seemed to be after information on the disappearances as well. This was fine, forty people going missing meant a lot of people would be looking into it. This also meant someone's probing would probably also land them here at this bar.

Chris at least got enough of a sense of what was happening to at least try to leave. The mob prince had considered letting him get outside, but he made a mistake. Out of all the names Theodore had been called, champ was one of the few he couldn't stand. It hit him like some kind of racial slur. The young man had planned on maybe a few threats and a slight dash of violence before coming in. It was no less than what he had been doing. Now however, he was considering brutalizing this man, just make his life miserable until the day he dies.

"Alright, we're doing this the hard way then," he said through gritted teeth. He stood up quickly and moved to kick Chris in the side with somewhat restrained but still abnormal strength, enough to knock him off his feet.

"You don't get to condescend to me when you have to pay for pussy, you victim blaming fuck. When was the last time someone touched your dick and you didn't have to pay em or knock em the fuck out? You look like that kind of guy. Pussy.
Lucky for you, you get to spend the evening with me. My name isn't champ, sport, or buckaroo. It's Theodore Defan. I'm sure you've at least heard of my mother. And I've heard some loser who can't let his 1999 graduation go is fucking skulking around with information I want."

By this point Theo could see several patrons slowly getting up and clearing out, naturally not wanting anything to do with this. Three tendrils slid out from his lower back as he slipped on a pair of rather nice looking black gloves. "Now if worse comes to worse, we'll have to take a special trip to the doll house," he smiled the kind of smile only a creepy inhuman child could give. He'd almost forgotten about the demon who seemed to have a mutual interest. But he also figured, he'd join in on his own if he really had any questions.

Well, Roth could see why the bartender didn’t even attempt to kick this kid out of the bar, now.

Frankly, the kid was threatening enough. Roth didn’t feel the need to throw threats on top of what Theo had to offer, so it occurred to him that maybe the Good Cop, Bad Cop route was the way to go with this guy.

So Roth stood up from his bar stool, completely calm as he knelt down and grabbed Chris by the collar of his shirt—aggressively jerking him to sit up.

“Ohh, the doll house…” Roth said, his demeanor cool and in contradiction to his more aggressive action. Of course, it hardly seemed all that aggressive compared to Theo.

“That doesn’t sound good, does it?” Roth said as he moved his hand from Chris’ shirt cuff to his shoulder, giving it a pat before squeezing tight. His sharp nails were digging in, just a bit.

“I think you should listen to the one with the tentacles and answer a few questions, yeah? I think that’s a good move.”
