Konpeitō rolled his eyes. He was happy to hear Kalik was studying towards a solution, but he found his question to be stupid when the reply would be so obvious.

"Are they fine with your plans? You said there's a risk with soul removal. I'm worried that..." His face softened as he thought through his words. In the end, he sighed, settling on a decision. "Ah, I'm sure you've thought about this stuff too. Or they did. I'm worried they'll plan to push you out, or that they'll feel threatened by your plans. Then there's how you're going about this. If a soul specialist worried about the risks and rejected helping you, how will you do anything by yourself? I feel like... you're falling into the trap where people who are learning something think they know a lot when they don't know anything in the grand scheme."

Kalik was getting slightly aggravated when he was listening to Kon and that was starting to show.
"I'm not falling into anything. I know what I know and I know the risks that come with them." Kalik immediately snapped back at Kon. He never claimed he knew what he was doing, he doesn't know what the fuck he was doing other than self-preservation.

"And no one is pushing me out. They aren't even full souls. They can't do jack shit other than being an annoyance and they know that. They are the ones who are leeching on me like a parasite because they know they can't survive without me. I'm not going anywhere. Not again. Not ever." If anything he was planning to push the others out. The other others. Kalik didn't feel comfortable telling Kon that now even if they were the ones who needed to go.
"If anything they are the ones who need to be removed. They don't belong here and it's starting to show."

Several emotions flashed across Konpeitō's face. Shock at Kalik's outburst, hurt, and then a coldness in his eyes. Hurtful words cluttered his mind, ranging in aggression and subtlety. Nothing like that came out. He forced himself to see things from Kalik's perspective, and while he was still angry, he managed to relax.

"Okay. Then let's remove them. Or learn how to control them." He looked around the room, trying to spot something. "Are there cameras or audio recordings here? I don't want our discussions to get us in trouble. I never read up on how the laws views multiple souls in a body, but I'm hoping it's similar to an unwanted fetus. It would suck if this counted as conspiracy to murder though."

Kalik was going to say he wanted the sound gone but he felt like it was better to just not say that. He didn't want to try to control the souls anymore, he did not have faith in himself to be able to do that now.

Kalik followed Kon's sight when he started to look around the room and then shook his head. "No. There isn't."

"If you are concerned about getting into any trouble then maybe you shouldn't help me at all." It probably sounded cold but he didn't really mean it like that. Kalik wasn't exactly fully aware on how the laws worked involving things like this. If it was considered murder to get rid of souls that were stuck inside his body then he didn't want Kon to get in trouble for that.
"I just uh ...I don't want you to risk getting in trouble for me. You have more to lose than I do and I won't be able to live with myself if my problems ruin your happiness."

If only he knew.

Instead of confessing to all of his criminal activities on the island, he simply held his hands together to his heart and said, "Awwww. That's so sweet! But Kalik, I was raised by a criminal and I never cared about what kind of stuff he did. I'll do anything to help the people I love! And if you're concerned, I can completely change my identity while helping you. New body, species, fingerprints, everything! Nothing to connect me to me. But first, we'll try things the legal way, okay? I'll find out about the law on sharing and ejecting souls and see where we can go from there."

"I uh... " Kalik wasn't really sure how to feel about Kon's response. He was conflicted. He was happy that Kon was willing to help him and also go to such lengths to do so but was also annoyed with himself. Did he really need Kon's help? He should be the one to fix his problems right? He shouldn't have to depend on other people to save him.

"Thank you. I appreciate that....you. You've been a good friend to me and I'm glad we've met." He was smiling but that was hidden under his helmet.

"I suppose this is now a team effort. Operation: Saving Kalik's soul. " He let out a chuckle. "While you look the laws of shared bodies and ejecting souls I will look into figuring out methods on how to do it. At the moment the souls are linked to my powers so this is a power issue. I can only...." He paused to think for a moment.

"Have I ever explained all of my powers to you?"

Unlike Kalik who was hard to read underneath his helmet, Konpeitō wore his emotions like they were his best outfit. His entire body turned a shade of pink, and if not for the seriousness of the situation, he would have ran over to hug Kalik.

"No, you haven't," he replied with a dorky smile. It only got dorkier as he tried to straighten his face. "I know you can strengthen powers. I doubted that was all because you're not human... Ah! One of your souls talked a bit about your powers. They went by Kilak and..." As Konpeitō remembered the contents of the conversation, his colors returned to normal. He had no trouble keeping a smile off of his face now. "They said they, and the other souls, were bounties. And that you absorb souls like a succubus."

Now Konpeitō was focused on the main concerns he had about Kalik. That "Kilak" and the other souls were casually chatting about potential crimes for anyone to report. That there might be souls who shouldn't take control having control. That, whether Kalik literally ate souls like a succubus or not, Konpeitō was romantically interested in him and may have been in danger.

"Yes. Kilak......" He didn't sound too pleased about speaking about "Kilak." He had his reasons for it but they were currently irrelevant to the conversation and there was no reason to bring them up.

"That is right but I am able to do much more." He nodded to Kon's words when he mentioned his magic boosting aura. He also chuckled at the succubus comment. That was basically an easy way to explain it all. He's just an alien, soul-sucking, Succubus.

"The species I originate from has certain gifts or abilities that we call links. My link is extremely special in the sense that I can link my soul to another person's soul. If we have a strong personal bond. When I link with a person we are able to share each other's memories and emotions as well as communicate telepathically with each other. It literally makes us soul mates."

"But...I have somehow managed to pervert that power." He held out his hand towards Kon. His body started to glow faintly and then the glow started to move down and concentrate on his hand. His hand started to glow brighter and brighter as the glow started to take shape and form into what looks like a rope. "These are the souls. Jafar learned how to do this during his rehabilitation. When he was trying to fix his soul and repair the missing pieces. This was ability was an unintended accident." There was a clear switch of tone in his voice. Kalik was referring to Jafar as separate person to hopefully make it all less confusing sounding. He also didn't want to be associated with Jafar's during that point.

"All I have to do is get this lasso around a person to....." He paused for a moment. "As you said, absorb souls like a succubus?Anyway this was Jafar's way of getting the missing parts of his soul back. Jafar just happened to get a few unwanted soulmates along the way."

Was that everything? Nope. There was still more he probably had to explain. " As either a side-effect from my link or just Jafar's alien heritage. Our body is extremely...compatible....adaptable...or whatever to the souls. Basically, if we linked to a person we start...becoming similar to them. Mentally and physically. For example, if we linked to you...we would...act a bit similar to you or our natural hair color would change to something similar to yours."

"Basically. Our powers are a mess, a curse, whatever you want to call it. They do more harm than good. "

His head lowered a bit as he looked down at his desk. "Kalik isn't even real. I'm just a part of the mess."

Kalik's bright demonstration forced Konpeitō to take a short step back before he hit the wall behind him. His body only loosened when a rope formed instead of some kind of blast or forced soul connection or whatever.

There was a lot to take in. Soul-sucking, soul rope, the man named Jafar, soul mates. He stayed silent for several seconds, trying to think through things logically. It was hard when his feelings were so mixed in.

The power of putting fate in a chokehold and making your own soul mate. That sounded wonderful. His mind immediately jumped to the idea of sharing a soul with Osmond. An intimacy stronger than most people had with themselves. He could vividly see the love story he always wanted playing with the help of that power.

And here, in reality, right in front of him, was how all of that could go so, so wrong. Konpeitō rubbed his temple, ran a hand through his hair, and sighed.

"Okay. I think I'm ready to talk now," he lied to himself. "I'm not understanding the... souls thing. There's... Kalik, Jafar, Kofi, Kilak, and others. Jafar sounds like... the start of all of this. I think he was the one I was speaking to most of the time early on. Then there was Kofi who didn't like being called Jafar. Is Kalik the... mixed version of those two because of the soul stuff? I don't understand how you aren't real."

Kalik was thinking of the best way to explain all the soul bullshit that was going on without making it more complicated. Kon was basically right but it was probably still better if he just tried to explain it.

"This is Jafar's body and he is the original soul. I was a part of his soul that was stolen by another person named Kofi. When he went to get me back....me and Kofi's soul had partially combined." Which was either Kofi's grand master plan or just something that conveniently happened.

"I shouldn't exist. If we are going to fix Jafar I might have to get removed. Our souls aren't compatible anymore." This was something he already knew for a while before the other soul fragments started acting up. "I believe I am the main cause of the instability."
