What's a few drinks between friends?

Trini had been scouting out the area earlier that morning, hoping she'd be able to actually find a coffee shop in the town even though she was still unfamiliar with it's layout. She was relieved to find that there were many tea shops and cafés in the area so finding one wasn't exactly the problem, it was choosing the right one that put a bit of a damper on her mood. She had agreed to have a drink with Zach today, had set up the whole thing, gave him a time and had all but found a place, and now she was scrambling. He was supposed to meet her after classes and they were supposed to go into town together, but instead she had called him and left a breathy message on his phone explaining how she had changed her mind and was going to meet him at the shop she had found. She didn't exactly specify which one and had made a show of how it was a surprise as she jogged down to the city and puffed into the speaker of her cell before hanging up.

"Such an idiota, hah-" she stopped just on the outskirts of the town and looked around, trying to remember which shops she had picked out that seemed like a good place for a relaxing first date. Oh, sweet mother of god she was going on a date. Her face flushed more from excitement then from the head rush after her brisk jog and she choked on air, coughing as she slowed her pace enough through the streets to get a good look at everything. After walking for a bit, she found the little tea shop across the way from the more established coffee shop that she had been favoring earlier that day and realized she had to make a decision and she had to make one now. She felt that which ever one she chose would put an impression on where she wanted to take their relationship right then and she knew that it was going to be important.

"Ah..." she sighed as she stood between the two of them, deflating a little before she perked up as an idea formed; she knew what she had to do. Pulling out her phone, she sent a quick message to Zach then walked into the little tea shop an excited grin on her reddening face.

Once he got the confirmation text from Trini he took off for the fountain, parking next to it, and getting out to look for her. It was uncharacteristic of him to just meet at random places but he felt a sense of safety on the island that he didn't get in japan. He had since made himself a new trench coat since Trini had his old one but he had elected to wear a black dress shirt with black slacks and a red tie. A suit jacket graced his figure, enzo tovare and he wore the trench coat over that. The coat was leather with black suede on the elbows. The loafers he wore were most definitely not combat oriented which was not his usual M.O. and he was anxious. As per usual since he had gotten to Starlight academy he wasn't carrying any weapons outside of what he possessed as a Garou.

Wardrobe and thought having been addressed he stood on the edge of the fountain, balancing precariously as he texted Trini.
{At fountain and waiting for the moonlight that is your beauty to guide me.} He knew it was cheesy, but text courage applied to lycanthropes too. After that he simply waited, wondering why he hadn't just texted her in the first place.

Trini felt her phone go off in her jacket pocket as she tried to juggle the multiple containers in her arms. She figured it was Zachary texting her back, but didn't make too big of a deal about reading it right away, knowing that she was almost done getting what she needed to get anyway. Stopping just outside the coffee shop that was across from the tea shop she had just entered, she placed the containers on a nearby table and reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone and reading the text he had sent her. Her hand instantly shot up to her mouth in an attempt not to laugh too loudly, resulting in an obnoxiously loud hissing sound regardless of her attempts.

<div align=center>[[At fountain and waiting for the moonlight that is your beauty to guide me.]]</div>
"What- who...who talks like that?" she shook her head as she stared at the message on the screen before typing in a reply and slipping the phone back into her pocket.

<div align=center>[[Ok...]]</div>
She blinked, making a face that displayed how unsure she felt about what he had said. It was weird and not exactly the best thing he could have said to her, but she decided it'd be best not to think too hard on it. They were just having coffee, right? She hadn't agreed to anything...more, had she? She shook her head and grabbed the containers that she had purchased from the tea shop, they had a few pastries and a sandwich that they could share in it and she planned to grab something to drink from the shop she was walking into now. The best of both shops combined into one delicious afternoon of company...and moonlight apparently.

Chuckling to herself, she was about to order something for herself but paused; she hadn't asked what he liked to drink. Excusing herself from the cashier she stepped to the side, balanced the containers in one arm and pulled out her phone again.

He was nervous at first and her response to his text was not exactly ideal. He wanted to throw himself into combat somewhere. Africa? His go to was violence when non violent situations caused nervousness, but that was the wolf in him. Come to think of it this was his first date in... how long had it been? Chloe, Shivana... that was it and the most recent one was 2 years ago. He groaned loudly as the realization that using lines from anime in the 90's probably wasn't going to win any points and as poetic as he thought he was being, cheesy one liners were not going to win points with non victorian era non-vampires.

So lost in thought was he that he barely noticed when his phone went off indicating he got a text. He elected that moment to calm down, though concerns about fox frenzy surfacing and instead focused on the matter at hand.
{um... iced mocha? I'm not sure what the shop you're at has.} Before pressing the "send" button he double checked to make sure it didn't read as anything other than what it was and hit it. He was happy to get to see Trini again which helped him focus and control his nerves, but at the moment he decided it would be easier to be in a war torn country fighting some hideous monster of corruption that here on a date.
"That forest was easier than this." He thought to himself while shaking his head.

When she received the answering text she wondered whether or not there was any place that was better. She hadn't really been thinking about the menu when she was searching for a nice place to get a drink, it was more atmosphere that she was interested in, but now that he brought it up she felt a pang of uncertainty. Had she picked the wrong place?

"Uh, can I get an iced mocha and a vanilla latte, please," she stepped up to the counter and vocalized her order, trying not to think that their coffee might suck or that they wouldn't have what she wanted to get. The cashier nodded, announced the order to the other workers than asked for payment. After a short wait, Trini grabbed the holder with the drinks nestled inside and left the shop; she was finished with her purchases and was ready to meet Zach over by the fountain. Upon walking up, she froze, seeing Zach's car as well as Zach, loitering by the fountain. She didn't know what she was expecting but for some reason he just looked so out of place standing there.

"H-hey," she continued forward and stopped as she reached him, giving him a long once over as she examined his clothing, "I'm feeling a little under dressed...did I miss a memo or are we actually going to someplace fancier than a coffee shop?"

She shifted the parcels in her grasp and looked down at herself, feeling extremely odd to have thought wearing an over sized jacket, thigh length skirt and warm leggings would be proper date attire while Zach was dressed to the nines. Of course, she had just gotten out of class and she always wore comfortable clothes to school, so she thought he would do the same; now she was thinking otherwise.

"Here, take this," she offered him the holder to take the drinks so that she wouldn't drop them.

"I'm feeling a little under dressed...did I miss a memo or are we actually going to someplace fancier than a coffee shop?"

He looked down at what he was wearing and at what Trini was wearing. It had never occurred to him to even buy regular shirts other than the four he currently had that were lying on his floor. The pants he had all had chains on them or were oriental which brought the rest of his wardrobe to mind.
"No I always dress like this, it's how i was raised. That aaaannnddd... my other shirts are all dirty." He explained, joking with the last part even though it was true.

When she passed him the coffee he took it and balance it in one hand. She seemed a bit nervous, but it was his fault which he felt guilty about.
"You look beautiful in exactly what you're wearing. I was kind of nervous about being under dressed sooo here I am." He said, adding the last part to help clarify his joke earlier.

As he started to think about it, the forest, the bonfire. Both of those had been intense and variably stressful situations and they had both done a lot better under those circumstances. Did this mean she performed better under tense situations? That meant she had training of some kind, but she wasn't versed in human fighting styles which meant it was either animal and instinct training like the lupus or it was control training, and all that was assuming he hadn't misjudged anything.
"Sorry about the text earlier, I don't know what i was thinking." He said, trying to correct that mistake and move forward with the day.

"Okay Zack, stop talking now. The less you say the more she'll ask and the more you can learn... and the less she'll think you're a dork. Oh dear god I've ruined it already." He thought to himself, despite everything he had learned in training he was not keeping his heartbeat under control and it had drastically sped up.

Trini listened to him talk, watching the way his mouth moved and blushing when he complimented her on her obviously uncomplicated ensemble. He was a sweetheart at best, but by the looks of his outfit and the way he seemed to stumble over his own words when he attempted to explain himself, he didn't seem very her speed. Almost like they were from different time periods or something. With a shrug, she stepped closer to him and tugged on his coat.

"Next time," she smoothed the fabric over with a pat of her hand, "Skip the suit...it's just coffee."

She smiled at him when he tried to apologize for the text message, not wanting to ruin their date by getting too overly critical about what he was wearing and the way he was acting around her. He was nervous, enough said. It wasn't like she wasn't. Just as the thought passed her mind, the packages that had been balanced on her arm during their conversation tipped and one of them went tumbling to the cobbled street.

"Ah!" she made a gasping noise and clutched the remaining package to her chest, stepping away from the fallen one that had fallen topside down, "Oh, oh no- that was...the cupcakes-"

She whipped her head back to look up at Zachary with a wide O-ed mouth of horror, "I'm so sorry- I- aha..haha..ahhahaha-"

She held the package tightly to her and dropped the look of distress, laughing at the fact that of all the items to fall topside down it would be the cupcakes. That was just her luck.

"Oh, well," she slowed her laughter, wiping her eye with a finger before looking down at the opened, upside down package before bending to inspect the damage further. The carton had somehow opened in it's fall and the delicious cakes were frosting down in the pebbled pavement, making it look as if a crime scene of sugared fiends had just taken place. With a pouting face and soft whimper, she took the carton and did her best to replace the destroyed sweets in their container. Still crouching at his feet, she gave a deep sigh and shrugged, "I guess it's just sandwiches for us then."

He was pretty nervous, when she touched his collar though, it dissipated a bit. His mind was clouded before, but his mind cleared suddenly just a bit... just in time to miss the cupcakes falling. By the time he had seen the box heading toward the ground, no attempt he could possibly have made would have saved them and so he knelt down to help her pick them up and put them in the carton.
"Sandwhiches sounds great. Besides it's a law of physics that cupcakes, when dropped, will land frosting side down, kind of like toast. Also, since I seem to be a tad overdressed maybe we could go clothes shopping. I haven't really had a chance to pick anything up since I've been here and maybe there will be something that catches your eye too." He suggested. For once there wasn't any strategy in it. He thought about treating this more like a new business arrangement and it helped him deal with the situation a little bit. Normal life really wasn't for him and as he was more or less a businessman/soldier, anything outside of the realms of those two worlds that he knew wasn't familiar, so adopting the persona he used for the former was his solution. It was still him, just a little more down to earth and forward oriented.

"And maybe sometime I can pay you back for the cupcakes by making some." He offered.

Trini looked up at Zachary as he spoke, surprised to see him kneel beside her when the package had hit the ground and made a mess of the cobblestone surrounding the fountain. It made her feel a little more comfortable when he attempted to joke with her about the physics of cupcakes and toast and seemed to like the idea of going shopping with him.

"Um, sure, you know places around here?" she eyed him as he toyed with the carton, smiling softly at his offer to make her deserts, "Maybe after coffee..."

Her voice trailed off as she looked up and saw his car from the night before parked just outside the fountains circle.

"You drove?" she chuckled into one of her hands, "I ran here from school...really didn't think it'd take me as long as it did. Ooh, you're so much smarter than me, Zach."

She gave a soft sigh and continued to stare at Zach's car before her attention was drawn to a gull flying overhead. She was momentarily distracted from their current situation by the bird, her thoughts wandering to her overall situation here on the Manta Carlos Island. She was there for her brother wasn't she? Then why hadn't she seen him? She'd been there for a few months and hadn't seen hide nor hair of her beloved older brother. Was it something she was doing? Had he heard she was in town and had run off to get away from her?

"Do you have any siblings?" she absently directed this question to Zachary, her eyes still on the bird as they kneeled around the discarded carton of destroyed cupcakes.

He smiled and looked around at where they were. He didn't know if there were any places around here for clothes shopping, but certainly there had to be a mall or something.
"I drive whenever I can. It's nice to feel the wind and watch the road blur." He chuckled and scratched the back of his head as he said this, but she seemed to be.. distracted. He took note of it, but didn't bother asking any questions since it was probably nothing and he was just over thinking things.

Then she asked him about his sibling status, something he wasn't quite sure how to answer.
"I... not that I know of. I barely even know who my parents are, but I have a pack back home and they are kind of like siblings in a way." He explained, trying mostly to gloss over details and skip complicated parts like birthdays, hometowns, etc. He wondered, though, what had brought the sudden question to mind.
"What about you? Do you have any siblings?" He asked, starting to wonder more and more about her mysterious past and take his mind away from his own.
