"More or less, only slightly more lowkey," Jude said. "I wasn't supposed to draw attention to myself."

Which was something he was having trouble shaking out of.

"I don't really have issues with him. Not like half the people on this island do. I imagine you probably think he was an asshole, but honestly? He was really nice."

Jude went quiet for a moment, the I miss him obvious but unspoken.

"Oh no, I think he's great. He's up front. He's got good business sense. He knows how to play the game."

Broen shrugged once. "I mean, nice is relative. Fuckin Gallant was nice. But your old man was at least fuckin real. Now that's enough fuckin feelings for now. Let's just finish this shit."

Jude squinted at the little slide in front of him, shaking the liquid inside before squinting some more.

"It's almost empty," Jude said. "We're not getting much of anything out of your blood this time. We might have gotten a bit more if we were letting it settle, but... I don't know, once a week, I think. Once a week to let more build up without letting it get too bad."

He seemed to have been taking less pain killers, but Jude was having a hard time telling as he snapped the machine off, sliding the parts back together.

"It's not going to do anymore, no matter how much we do it today. Is it actually working?"

If Broen had tested, he hadn't told Jude about it.

Broen stood up and pulled the IV out of his arm. He flexed and got the feeling back in his fingers. He definitely didn't hurt as bad now. "Fuck yes. I feel great. A little cold, but eh."

Jude asked if he had tried. Broen gave a little shrug and a grin. "Kinda. No luck yet. Let's see though."

"Heeeey, buddy," Broen called out to his rather reclusive roommate. As per usual, the bedroom door shut immediately upon attention being brought to it. Broen furrowed his eyebrows but was still giving a toothy grin.

"C'mere, boy!" There was a playful lilt to his tone as he took a running start towwrds the door and vanished. It was dead quiet for a full minute and then Broen appeared again, stepping back into the main living area from seemingly nowhere.

His grin hadn't left him and he held up his hands. Red electricity arced between his fingers.

Jude was a little bit worried about that whole not much circulation in his fingers, but he knew Broen well enough to know that the first thing he was going to do if he got his powers back was find someone with regeneration. That wasn't going to be an issue.

Jude watched with morbid fascination as Broen went after his poor, poor roommate. Really, Jude had to feel bad for the guy. Broen smoked. He drank. And he was a holy terror, for the exact reasons that Jude was about to witness.

He simply stayed where he was, sitting in the chair as he waited for Broen to pop back up again.

Electricity. That was good, because it could have been way, way worse if he'd gotten something else.

"Full power?" Jude asked, starting to wonder what he'd unleashed on Manta Carlos. Broen at full strength was bad enough in Halcyon. Here, where people were more open? That would be nightmarish.

"Mmmm, I've seen him fuck around before with his shit. I'm at his one hundred percent, not mine. Oh well, I guess the chunk in my leg is probably too big to deal with. For now."

He clenched his fists and let the electricity spark all around him. It wasn't super powerful, nowhere near Breakneck's levels. But it had good control. He could work with this for now.

"I can't wait see the look on that slimy fuck's face."

The problem with throwing insults at literally everyone is that Jude had, quite frankly, absolutely no idea which slimy fuck Broen was talking about.

Altizica? Probably Altizica, but there was no telling about that either.

"You mean Altizica?" He said, raising an eyebrow. "Because we should probably talk about that."

"Yeah, the literal slimy fuck." Broen was playing with a small line of lightning, making it jump from his thumb to his other fingers individually. Getting used to this new power and, quite frankly, figuring out what all he could actually manage with it.

"What's there to talk about? I'm gonna smear him off od my boot like dog shit. Period. End of statement." Interestingly, there was a hint of actual concern in Broen's voice. His eyes hardened a bit and he focused harder on the lightning in his hand. Fuck that Lovecraftian bitch.

Broen seemed more bothered than Jude was used to, but it was all too easy to figure that Broen was bothered in the same way that Jude was bothered. Altizica was effectively a bad version of Phokrus, less grand and powerful, but still similar enough. His name meant hunger for god's sake.

"I'm handling him," Jude said, trying to sound firm. "If you kill him, he just comes back. There's better ways to make sure that the big one never pays any attention to us."

"I'm not going to kill him. Maybe. I want him to have to look me in the eyes and see that he's fucking outmatched."

Broen snapped his fingers and a small arc of lightning came out of his fingers. It hit the dialysis machine and shut it off cleanly. No damage to the machine itself. "I just gotta figure out whose ass to smack for powers."
