It was cold and rainy that day—a miserable combination for Jaqueline. Being cold blooded made it miserable, obviously, but there was also the fact that she couldn’t wear shoes with her gigantic gecko feet.

She dashed quickly across the courtyard, desperately clinging to an umbrella that was not doing her much good. The wind was blowing the rain right in her direction, so she was getting wet regardless. She nearly tripped but caught herself as she got into the school’s entranceway.

“I need to make friends with someone who can control weather…” Jaqueline moaned to herself as she put her umbrella aside and shook the rainwater from her hair. Ugh, her feet were so wet and cold and shivering. She was semi-prepared for days like this with a towel, but…that towel was in her office. Which meant she had to walk to her office. On cold, wet gecko feet.

This wouldn’t be such a big deal except for the fact that her feet…they squeaked when wet on certain surfaces. The linoleum tiles that the school had for floors? Yeah, they squeaked horribly on those floors.

But it wasn’t like Jaqueline had a choice. Reluctantly, she started heading down the hall to her office—trying to make very light, gentle steps so that the noise wasn’t too terribly obnoxious. Of course, students who walked by still giggled at her utter awkwardness regardless. Jaqueline shoved her hands into the pockets of her big, puffy coat and avoided eye contact as she tried to get to her office both as quickly and as quietly as she could possibly be.

The rain, like many things in this confounded world, was something better to look at than experienced face to face. Especially considering that the creature that just drugged in it still felt it to be warm outside. Though an umbrella aided him in keeping dry for the most part, one of his most glaring features was the one to receive the short end of the stick from the weather- his tail.

Being as it was much too heavy for the vertebrae supporting it, the ultramarine blue fluffed appendage now collected whatever nasty mud that had accumulated around the fields. Fortunately for the rather clean-cut guy, this didn’t bother him as much as it used to. The rest of him, including his attire, was dry. That was all that mattered. So when the young man entered the building he didn’t put up much of a fuss… Which would have been dandy, had he not worn a melancholic attitude.

Even in a school like this he felt out of place, like an alien among men. And rightfully so. After unzipping his black raincoat, he shook it off and placed it on a hook by the entrance so he could pick it up later when it had dried. Underneath he just wore a short sleeve button up, which revealed the rest of the odd aspects about him. His entire body was the blue color as seen in his tail, and the tips of his fingers possesed black claws. Faint patches of this fur were present at his elbows, but it appeared it was shaven off recently. All to look more normal, he supposed.

On any case he was heading to the library, to pick up a textbook for homework from the night before. He was absent from one of his classes the other night for… Reasons that he kept to himself. Biting his lip with his fangs, he glanced around the hallway to find out where he was to go. He still wasn’t used to everything around here, which was made worse with him going through the back entrance. He’d get it eventually, but for now, he had some hunting to do.

With that the monster boy turned the corner, looking up and down to find the staircase. It was then he realized he had to go halfway across the building to get to the proper room. He huffed. Great.

Just as he was about to however a faint squeaking noise could be heard down from the edge of the corridor on the opposite side. He stopped in his tracks, his ears pricking and the tip of his tail flicking. Like an easily distracted dog he pivoted on his heels to let his curiosity overtake him. Just what was that?

Going down the hallway, the noise started to increase in volume as he could only assume he was getting closer. Why he didn’t figure that it could be someone’s shoes was beyond him. His attention span and inquisitive nature didn’t lend to each other well and often had him in dumb pursuits. Not like he had to get on his homework any time soon, anyway. So in efforts to find the source he increased his speed, slower though with the weight behind him. He had taken a wrong turn however, and though the noise was getting louder it was from a different direction. In another turn of the corner, he was thus faced with his goal.

And now came in the shyness. Now he was here, looking to see a lizard-looking woman. To his equal shock and pleasure, it appeared that she stuck out just like he did. But in realizing this, he also realized that he was staring blankly at her. Oops.

Snapping out of it he nervously approached her, making up an excuse in his head for him to practically follow her here. God, he needed to work on his people skills. ”Um, excuse me miss...” He called out in a thick Indian accent, his features looking somber as they usually did. ”I hope I’m not interrupting you, but do you know how to get to the library from here? I came from the back entrance and...” He placed a hand behind his head, amber eyes flicking down. This was embarrassing, at least for him. ”I was also wondering if you were making that noise.” He looked down for a brief second, noticing her feet. Now that explained a lot. His ears flattened, and he now looked to the ground. ”I mean I don’t mind or anything I just sorta was… Wondering.” Yeah, he really needed to work on his people skills.
