What is 'Forbidden'?

Iain looked curiously at the sign. He could read just enough human to know that the sign said FORBIDDEN. What is 'forbidden'? Though Iain as he peered at it more closely. He could have asked his computer, but he did not bring it with him. Walking past the sign into the forest, he let a huge grin spread across his face. It was so beautiful here.

Iain was so captured by the beauty of the flowers, that he didn't notice how far into the forest he had come. The trees were blocking out the sun, but Iain didn't notice. Touching just behind his left ear, Iain activated his lens. It unfolded in front of his eye, lighting the scene for Iain once more. He was so busy looking at flowers and such, that he didn't even notice what was coming up behind him...

Tu blinked curiously as he peered out under the sign, watching the white-haired boy walk past it and deeper into the forest. He'd climbing up trees to look for bird nests when he'd heard the sound of someone walking by below. Out of curiousity and boredom, he'd followed him and now found himself at the edge of the forbidden forest.

"Maybe he doesn't speak English and didn't know what the sign said..." Tu said softly before perking up, "I better tell him to go back because it's dangerous in here." With that, Tu pattered into the forest after him. The older boy had an advantage on Tu, seeing as he was taller, so the boy struggled to keep up with him. A few times, he'd lost track of the teen, but thankfully had been able to spot his white hair through the trees.

Finally, he managed to get within arm's length of the other teen. Tilting his head at his back, Tu reached out and tugged once on the end of his shirt.

"We shouldn't be here, y'know."

Iain turned suddenly as something grabbed his sleeve. Pulling what looked like a bracelet out of his bag, Iain slipped it on. Looking at the boy, Iain listened carefully as he spoke. Taking the braclet off, Iain put it bag away. Two of the three lights on the side had lit up, But as soon as the thing was removed they faded out.
"Why should we not be here? It is so beautiful. Maybe something to do with the sign saying FORBIDDEN, yes? What is FORBIDDEN?"

Tu blinked and tilted his head. Well, at least the older boy spoke English, so explaining things to him would be much easier. Tu wasn't sure what he would have done if the boy couldn't, besides waving his arms and attempting to drag him out of the forest.

"Forbidden means that we're not supposed to come in here. It's really dangerous in here and there might be monsters or scary things that want to eat us or big smelly things with bad breath!" he said excitedly, waving his arms around, "Even if it's really pretty here, it's still dangerous so we should be going back now before we get eaten or bit or even have our money stolen!" A pause.

"..I don't think I have money on me though," Tu said thoughtfully as he began patting his pockets in search of any form of money.

Iain looked at the boy curiously. He laughed. "But there is nothing dangerous here! Unless you think that a flower will attack you! And what is money?" Being from a different planet, Iain had no idea what money was. On Solo, there was no money. Everyone just shared everything, and whatever they gave you was returned in another form.

"Not everything dangerous can be seen, nor can everything nice-looking be harmless," Tu recited, holding up a finger, "That flower could be poisonous, or maybe there could be a blood-sucking bug on it, or maybe it's even carrying a disease! You never know for sure, so you should always be careful." He finished his lecturing with a sharp nod of his head, as if confirming his own words.

"And money is what you give to people in order to get them to give stuff to you," Tu said with a blink, tapping his chin and glancing towards the sky, "The more money you give, the better stuff you get. Almost everyone in the world uses it because it's much easier then carrying around goats or something like people did in the old days."

"But why do people not just share everything? Like if I give you a ...how you say...drink, later you can give me something I need. Everything is equal and it works." Iain had no concept of lying, and never thought that someone might think something was worth more. He picked the flower. Looking it over, he said, "Nope, no blood-sucking bugs. No poison. No disease." He said the words strangly, as though he had never heard it before and didn't know what it meant.

"....Because the world is not the perfect, ideal place," Turais replied with some thought, peering around the other teen at the flower he was holding, "People are not perfect, so their actions are not perfect. People are different, so the value they'll place on something is different. Plus, what if you never run into that person who owes you a favour again? His or her side of the bargain will never be kept."

"And it could have been dangerous," he said with a slight pout, eyeing the flower warily, "It's better to be a little cautious in a new situation than reckless. You never know what could be." Tu followed his words with another nod of his head, wrinkling his nose at the smell coming from the flower and moving back. He didn't like strong scents very much, they bothered his nose, so the fragrant flower was a bit irritating to his senses.

((it still me.))

Iain saw Turaiss move back. "You don't like flowers?" he asked, somewhat childishly. Quite often Iain would act like a child, but he didn't know about Earth ways. "But how can you never see someone again?" Solo was a small planet, and Iain assumed Earth was the same.
