Laelynn clung tight to Jett, half hidden behind him. She went completely silent when Jett's hand rested on her shoulder, peering around him in the direction she thought she'd heard the wendigo. The dragoness spoke in hushed whispers as she trembled behind him, peering up with wide-eyes filled with both curiosity and terror.

"Y-you think so? J-Jett you won't let them eat me right? You can fight them off?"

The little girl placed so much of her faith in Jett. He looked capable of fighting off a bear, so he could fight off a wendigo, right?

Unfortunately for Lae, a bear and a Wendigo were two entirely different things and the Wendigo won against a bear. When asked whether Jett could protect her, he paused.

Jett was not in the business of protecting people; he rarely had to worry about it. He gave a thoughtful hum and grinned at her. "Guess we'll find out." Jett pushed her backward a bit. "Gimme some room."

Once she had, Jett pulled his shirt over his head and threw it to the side, his skin moving odly until it began peeling off in long, bloody strips. He helped the process along by scraping it away, hunching over. The sickening sound of rearranging bones mixed with panting was the only sound left in the forest. Once finished, Jett shook off, no in hs Skinwalker form and waited.

From the forest, looming out of a canopy of trees, bright glowing purple eyes peered at both of them, and the hiss of a Wendigo's breathing could be heard.

Laelynn hurried backwards when Jett pushed at her, running to a tree and transforming to hide in the branches with her… brilliantly glowing firey dragon feathers. She hoped those wouldn’t drag attention to her. The tiny dragon looked back at the sound of bones cracking and shifting, her new friend hunched over and pulling his skin off in a bloody mess. Laelynn let out a distressed cry at seeing him in such a state, climbing back down to try and help.

Jett was… not human. The creature standing before her was just as terrifying as the concept of a man-eating wendigo coming for them, although she took comfort in knowing that this horrifying monster wasn’t here to hurt her. The dragoness didn’t have long to come to terms with this. The Wendigo had arrived, with glowing purple eyes staring straight at them. Laelynn whimpered and circled around the tree, peering out from the trunk with her claws dug in deep, like a bright red squirrel on fire.
