The legend
Many generations ago, when magic still was present on the mainland, a tribe of nomadic individuals roamed the North American continent, much different than those commonly known today. These individuals harbored a special gift-or curse- that set them apart from the normal human. These people could shift into a wolf on command, and, under the light of the full moon, a giant anthropomorphic wolf beast of great power. Traditionally, people like this came to be known as werewolves. But even in that distinct magical divide there existed those who further dabbled into the supernatural. While many werewolves boasted earthly tones and realistic fur coats, these werewolves were quite unusual- from birth, the pups of these people boast vivid colors ingrained in their coats. These special deviations possess a name unreplicable by the human tongue, but colloquially, they are known as ‘sparkledogs’.

Because of this, the tribe had become major targets for both fur trappers and fearful settlers alike, causing their once huge numbers to become quickly and drastically diminished. Their nomadic nature became increasingly necessary to the point that the singular group began to divide off into their individual families and go their separate ways so they may not all get hunted down at once. As they are extremely close knit, this decision was devastating to say the least. Since then, individual families of the tribe had gone in hiding all over the globe. But one family, The Clawfords, eventually grew sick of hiding, and wanted nothing more than to have a place where they could be free to be themselves.

After decades of wandering, the family had found themselves boarding a boat to search for solace on an island. After many months, and a few tragic losses accompanied by a fair share of hardships, the family had made it to the growing island of Manta Carlos. At first, they had landed out of desperation and fear that if they gambled another chance at a new life, they'd only end up in tragedy. But their luck seemed to flourish as they found that the island was developing into a sanctum. So, like many other families seeking a better life, the Clawford family settled and established themselves for generations to come.

”The Sparkledog”
As mentioned, the anatomy and habits of this subspecies differs greatly from their more… Tame counterparts. When a child first shifts into their wolf form, the evidence of their difference is already present. Typically, a softer hue of what will become the base color of their coat is apparent. This color will be brought on later in life, as well as whatever markings and special deviations the individual will have. This is because markings are created through personality and what can be best described as aura. Every individual is different with no two having the exact same coat color. Some wolves have stripes, some patterns, and some with an entire retina-burning spectrum of colors. Aside from this, the skeletal structure of the “Sparkledog” is a bit different as well. The female of the species tends to be taller than a grey wolf with slender legs, a narrow swan-like neck usually with copious amounts of fur (a trend that occurs as well as on their heads, much like human hair), and a narrow, distinctive facial region. Males are similar, though their chests are broad and their face as well. Both females and males possess larger, more ‘human-like’ eyes. Their tails tend to be on the longer, bushier side as well. Most of these dogs are particularly skilled at running, as their lithe body allows for speeds up to 45 mph.

Under the light of the full moon, the human side of the wolf will involuntarily succumb to the ultimate form that they may take. This form is that of an eleven foot tall human-wolf hybrid. These giant beasts are not only fast, but extraordinarily strong as well, able to lift steel girders without breaking a sweat. While this may come across as a threat, the Sparkledog in fact is for the most part pacifistic. But instead of bloodlust and cannibalism on the mind, the Sparkledog has just one motive- to go out and have fun.

The culture of “The Sparkledog” is about as loud and bright as the color of their fur. They're taught to be proud of who they are despite the world wanting to hide them away. When the full moon comes around, a tribe typically throws a get together either at home or in public. These get-togethers seem to be more in line of a party than anything else, and, because of the self control taught at birth, the wolves are confident in inviting strangers to join in on the fun. Hospitality and extroversion are the mantra of this group. Sure, they're really loud and tend to break things because of their size when shifting, but they don't really mean harm. Of course though, they're still wolves. They have tendencies like their wild counterparts, so it's up to the alpha (usually the family head) of the pack to keep their members in line.

The Clawfords
Like the rest of their tribe, the Clawfords are loud, proud, and even more of a presence thanks to the island’s policy on freedom of magical expression. This individual division of a much larger tribe has established itself quite well on the island. They live on the rural side of Manta Carlos, close to the forbidden forest in a large, distinctive A-frame style log cabin. The great grandparents of the current alpha had settled here and begun working on establishing a name for themselves almost immediately through community services and business. From here, the family grew. Tradition has always dictated that on the 20th birthday of a member, the family would either travel to meet another family within the wide-ranged pack or invite another over in an attempt to marry them off and continue the bloodline. This tradition has dictated that the male alpha would carry this through, but tragically five years ago, the father of the family was killed in a misunderstanding. Now the mother, currently the alpha, of the Clawfords is in charge of keeping her family afloat.

To the pleasure of her children it seems, the widowed Mrs. Clawford is lenient on tradition and would much rather allow her children to express themselves freely than to keep strictly to how they should be raised. Due to her ‘mother bear’ sort of personality, she also sees close family friends as family themselves. She wants her children to be with who they want as well, despite the nagging of the other families in her community. While she does hold close to what she’s been raised with, she puts her family’s well-being before anything else.

Creation Guidelines
Being such an established family, the Clawfords live with both immediate and extended family, each member possessing quite the diverse personality. In terms of human appearance, it can be made evident that they are all certainly related. In general, the family possesses russet skin with subtle bronze undertones. Their hair is naturally straight and black. Eye color ranges from hazel to deep brown/black. Of course, there’s a leniency in the family to express oneself as desired, which is even evident in their wolf form. It ain’t a sparkledog without copious amounts of accessories, after all!

SLOTS:
As the extended family mixes with the immediate, the amount of members has a broad range. It’s a big family with a lot of brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and grandparents alike. The siblings ages range from 5-25, the youngest being born right after the death of the father. The parents of the father are also deceased, and the rest of the family on his side has become distant. So without further ado…

-Grandmother, mother’s side: OPEN
-Grandfather, mother’s side: OPEN
-Mother/Alpha of the Clawfords: TAKEN by Porky
-Brothers and Sisters to the Alpha: OPEN (These members can be permanent residents or just hang around a lot)
-Children of the Alpha (Ranging from age 5-25, twins/triplets/etc allowed!)
-UNLIMITED
-Extended family (These can be family friends, adopted residents, etc. Just pm details!)

Currently, it is forbidden to attempt to change other people into werewolves. Doing so requires the bite of the alpha, and mama wolf isn’t going to sink her teeth into somebody any time soon!

This plot is open indefinitely and for anybody interested! Post here or PM me any questions/characters. Go nuts with getting as creative as possible!
