Sam was lying in his bed and staring at the ceiling, like he had been doing for the last 3 or so days. He went out to get a coffee around three days ago, and that was likely the last time people saw him actually leave his room. Jacky was there as well, snuggled on Sam's chest.

Now, it wasn't that Sam actively enjoyed being in a dark, messy room with little intention to go outside... it was more like he didn't have any motivation to leave the room. He considered that the less he did, the less he'd forget when he inevitably is whisked away to a different time. This did mean he has rarely attended any of his classes.

Terry hated doing his job. He couldn't wait for his and Fitz's tavern to be up and running, so he didn't have to be a glorified babysitter anymore.

When he'd gotten an order to check out a boy's room to ensure he was okay (or even still around) terry just inwardly sighed. He wasn't normally quiet, but he was quiet today.

He knocked briskly on the door once he'd made sure he'd gotten the right dorm number. Most people had roommates, but he didn't think 'Sam' did.

"Oi. Open up the door if you're in there." He waited a second. "If ya don't, I'm unlockin' it."

Sam groaned, disturbing Jacky from her sleep in the process. He slowly lifted Jacky up from his chest and placed her down on the floor next to his bed. But, he didn't make any movements for a solid 10 seconds afterwards. Should I answer...? Should I not? Ugh, the door is being opened either way...

Sam quite literally rolled out of bed then pulled himself up. He dragged his feet across the ground as he went to the door. But, he didn't open it. "I'm ok! No need to worry!" He shouted. He was hoping whoever was on the other side heard him cause he was already going back to his bed.

Terry groaned. This kid was not okay, and Terry couldn't return to his post with 'yeah, no, the kid told me he was okay through the door' as an answer.

He fished out the master key he had and quickly unlocked the door. As he opened it, he said, "better hide your sin, kid, I'm comin' in."

When Terry was inside and got a good look at the room in front of him, he wanted to groan further. He hated doing his job. Okay, game face time.

Sam had managed to drag himself back onto his bed so he was sitting on it when his door was so rudely opened. He looked at Terry with a look similar to a deer who suddenly found themself in headlights. He then had a look of annoyance as he groaned.

He fell backwards onto his bed, his legs hanging off the bed. "I said I was fine." He sounded really annoyed at the sudden intrusion into his room. He really hoped that it was just a checkup and he wasn't about to be escorted to go to lesson. Lessons don't even matter, I'll forget it all.

Jacky hopped over to Terry and curiously sniffed at him. Her ears twitched as she heard Sam talk. She recognised that tone as his 'leave me alone' tone, so she inched a bit further away from Sam after he talked.

Terry sighed and looked equally annoyed. "Look kiddo, I don't like having to come in here and check up on ye any more than ye want me here.

"Ye got a lot o' these situations comin' up. Ye know. All this..." Terry waved his hand in a circular motion, "all the absences can't keep bein' a thing. Ye can't stay in the school and not goin' to classes; ye dig me.

"I gotta recommend ye to a therapist or some shite," he said the last bit while peering at a piece of paper that had several lists of names on it.

Sam sat on his bed like a sulking child, his gaze directed to the floor in front of him rather than the man in front of him.

He was starting to fade out of the conversation, evident by the blank look that was in his eyes. The words were mingling into one another. That was until Terry mentioned therapy.

Sam instantly snapped his attention back to the conversation, his eyes taking focus. “A therapist? I’m fine!” He protested. He stood up as he looked at Terry wide eyed.

Terry could not have been more deadpanned than he was in that moment.

"Mhm," he said unconvinced by the boy's protests. "Listen, boyo, ye actin' like a real dosser." Here, Terry held the paper containing the information to suggested therapists on it out to Sam. He was stern-faced.

"Are ye gonna do this yerself or am I gonna 'ave to drag yer arse to one of these sessions?"

@WuffyWuff

Translation: "Listen, boy, you're acting like a real dosser*."

"Are you going to do this yourself or am I going to have to drag your ass to one of these sessions?"

Dosser: Someone not working or is messing about, up to no good.

Sam remained standing as he looked at Terry. His eyes no longer wide eyed as he listened to Terry speak. His jaw slowly clenched as he listened. The look in his eyes basically gave the answer to Terry's question...

Sam shook his head, his eyes now narrowed to a glare. Even though he's scrawny and really in no position to argue, he is still going to try. "No. I'm fine." He spoke as sternly as he could, but just to make it perfect he had a small voice crack in the middle of speaking.

Jacky had wandered away from both of them because she felt that Sam would just even more angry if she was pretty close. She seemed to make him angrier when he was already angry.
