Sinaloa woke up with a yawn, wriggling around and getting herself tangled in the blankets. It took a moment for her to realise: she wasn't being carried, nor had she been left at the community center. This was not her nest at home.

Sinaloa shot up, attempting to stand on the matress, but she was so tangled up she immediately plummeted forwards. Ashamed, she wriggled free and immediately collapsed on the floor with a thud.

"ow."

Sinaloa deemed it safer to stay sprawled across the floor, one foot still tangled in the bedsheets, rather than to go looking for the eldritch creature that had apparently brought her home. At the least, she hoped it was Altizica who had brought her home and tucked her into bed. Otherwise, there would be a whole lot of explaining that needed to happen. She lifted her arm to check on the power nulification bracelet, and was relieved to see that it had turned itself off. Which meant someone was nocturnal, and didn't mind a little company, or the bracelet had been off from the start and she hadn't just mindlessly wandered in.

The room was silent as a dark mist slowly formed in the doorway of the room. As the mist increased in size a creature became visible. In the center of the low mist was Altizica in his true form, everything below his waist being covered by the mist. Altizica saw the awake Sinaloa and chuckled, his distorted voice going throughout the room. “Oh good, you are awake Sinaloa. My apologies for taking you into my home while you asleep. I didn’t wish to leave you in the community center and I didn’t know where you lived.”

Altizica’s body twisted and shrunk as he shifted into his human form for her. Once the transformation finished he walked over to the bed and sat at the edge. He looked over to Sinaloa and smiled “I hope you enjoyed your rest Sinaloa. I do not use the bed often as I do not sleep often. Really only after my body reforms after death as it sends me into a deep sleep.”

Sinaloa wriggled out from the blankets, struggling towards the mist that was solidifying into Altizica. Her ankle was still caught in the sheets and she pitched forward, collapsing for a second time at Altizica's feet. She blinked up at him, grinning from ear to ear like a child.

"Hi el-dad-ritch friend!"

Sinaloa sat up to wriggle her foot free of the sheets. Once freed, she tackled Altizica backwards onto the bed, hugging him tight.

"That's okay. I'm not much for beds either but yours is comfy. I like it."

Altizica watched Sinaloa fall and couldn’t help but giggle as he watched her. “Hello Sinaloa.” He laughed and collapsed further into the bed with Sinaloa in his embrace. He smiled and rubbed her head gently. It was strange, he felt some sort of warmth being with her. He thought that it was something like joy, but slightly different. He wasn’t quite sure what he would call it. “I am quite glad you enjoy it. My devoted crafted it by hand after all, they do enjoy when their work is appreciated. Well if you wish you can leave when ever you want. I just wanted you to have a place to rest properly so I understand if you wish to leave.”

Sinaloa clung to Altizica, basking in the feeling of security. The feeling of being wanted. Altizica knew that she wasn't some sort of eldritch abomination, but he still took care of her. Let her do things that weren't normal for two friends, but might be considered normal for a child and a parent. Altizica hadn't opposed to her dad pun, either.

"I don't wanna leave. Ever. But I gotta cause I need to be an adult but still..."

Sinaloa pulled away, grabbing a corner of the sheets and wrapping herself in the blankets.

"I'm not adulty enough to be an adult. I wanna just stay here forever."

Altizica laugher again as Sinaloa stated she didn’t want to leave ever. Something about this was so amusing and he didn’t know why. He crawled towards Sinaloa on the bed and tickled her a little. “You are such a child Sinaloa. Or should I call you Tiny? I’m basically your father it seems at this point.” Altizica said jokingly with a soft chuckle. He paused for a moment and sat back up. “It’s strange. I have never felt this kind of....joy......before. Not even during my time as the mist or the scourge did I feel this amount of enjoyment. You are special Sinaloa. Unique. I love unique things.” Altizica smirked a grin and looked back at the small adult-child currently curled in blankets.

Sinaloa squealed and giggled beneath the blankets, squirming to hide the most ticklish spots from Altizica's reach.

"I'm supposed to be growing up. Learning to be an adulty adult. I don't really wanna. But either name works."

Without removing the blankets, she shimmied herself towards Altizica, resting by his side.

"I like that feeling. It's a good feeling. Matthew explained that feeling to me. It's called bonding. Or maybe pride? Something like that I guess. I've never had a real dad, so I guess I wouldn't know."

Altizica smiled and patted Sinaloa’s head lightly “I think I am going to stick with Sinaloa”. He listened carefully to what she described as bonding and remained quiet for a moment, trying to process exactly what she said. “I never knew my parents. I do not even think I truly have any, I am just a byproduct of the universe for some reason. When I came into existence I felt confusion, but soon only felt hunger. Emotions didn’t develop until much later for me, and even then I lacked much of what you humans have. I do not know what it is like parenting but I would like to believe it is like what we are doing. But neither of us will really know.” Altizica smiled softly.

Altizica sounded sad. Like he was lonely. It made her think back to the first encounters with Matthew. How he always seemed to be annoyed by her presence but had never sent her away, not once. Doctor had shown her Matthew's letters to the school, all of the discussions about Sinaloa's future. He was supposed to have been there with her. Sinaloa was no stranger to the lonely kind of sorrow.

"We can be family. No one cares enough to ask why. And no one knows what I am so I guess they can't say I'm not an Eldritch cause Eldritch are like, super weird, right? We don't even need to sign paperwork cause I'm too old to be legally adopted."

Altizica pauses for a moment and just looked at Sinaloa, not with shock or with happiness but more like he just realized something. He smiled from ear to ear and nodded vigorously “You are absolutely right! I mean my sister looks completely different from me and we are just days apart!” Altizica said with a short laugh. He quickly moved forward and hugged Sinaloa tightly in excitement. “Oh it will be great. I swear to you I will be the best father you’ve ever had!” He said hardly able to contain his joy and inner excitement
