Alma's head was full of static and her skin tingled with excitement. The elections were in full swing and she was already fighting hard for the votes. She felt like she had s good shot though.

In this case, she was out on the academy grounds, giving literature to students who came by. Pamphlets on her positions and plans, and some notes about the online dating seminars that she and Chloe had worked so painstakingly on.

Standing off to one side, at the back, Liliana watched Alma quietly. She had, in fact, gone to each and every opponents' speeches, to get an idea what she was up against, and who, if anyone, was her direct competition.

She knew Alma, who didn't, ten years at the academy had given Liliana a pretty clear advantage of knowing who was who. And the very vibrant young woman was, perhaps, her biggest rival. Letting the crowd disperse, Liliana just stood there for a moment before approaching Alma.

Alma watched the small crowd disperse, mentally counting how many fliers and pamphlets she had given out from this gathering. Glancing at the shrinking number of people, she noticed someone approaching. Lilliana, one of her opponents in the race. Or running mates, as Alma preferred to think of them.

"Hey! Lilliana, right? I heard your speech. Good stuff. What can I do for you?"
Alma went through, trying to remember whatever she could about Lilliana. Not much, if she was being honest. The other girl seemed to be more of a loner, so it didn't give Alma a lot to work with.

"Hey, very nice speech yourself," Liliana stated amicably as she strode towards Alma, glancing at a few of the people walking away.

"I see you had quite a crowd here today, more than Elisha, Elisa?" Liliana said thinking that the new girl looked oddly familiar to another student, but couldn't quite say who.

"I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about what's next on the whole campaign thing?" Liliana asked matter-of-factly, "Since, well, you have been here before, and I haven't," she stated rather bluntly, but not rudely. She wasn't above asking for advice since the whole elections thing had sounded like a great idea - at the time. Now, it was, not overwhelming, but somewhat strategic, and Liliana was a careful, if not cautious, planner and she wanted to know how she should proceed.

"Well," Alma began, her pupils fully dilated and goat-like. "My plan right now is to make sure as many people as possible know my positions. Do you wanna know for your own campaigning strategies, or are you just curious?"
She smirked a bit and put her hand on her hip, the other arm holding what remained of her pamphlets.

"Truthfully? A little bit of both. It's always good to know what the others are doing," Liliana said as she regarded Alma calmly. "That way one's ideas stand out more. If we all want to better the food in the lunchroom it's going to boil down to who offers pizza over burgers, or something equally as dumb..." she stated, remembering previous years and previous campaign promises and thinking that most were unimaginative at best.

"Oh it definitely is. But I'm not about things like that. If we're talking food, I'd be more concerned about helping students get access to foods they require and the skills to learn to make healthy, delicious meals for themselves."

She shifted her weight some, from one leg to the other. "Imagine if we had a graduating class who was that self sufficient. Now extrapolate that out to other areas, like politics and economic awareness. We could have the most well informed populace in the world in less than a decade."

Liliana nodded at that, "See? That actually makes sense," she agreed as she clasped her hands behind her back comfortably and stood with her legs slightly apart, "Except for the fact that most of the students here are lazy and rely too heavily on their magic to make themselves a simple ham sandwich," she said rolling her eyes at this which was, unfortunately, the truth.

"They have no idea just how lucky they are," the psychopomp declared her eyes narrowing slightly, thinking of all the souls she had moved over the years and the small percentage of them that were magical. It was small indeed compared to non-magical folk.

"I honestly think students need to be made more aware that they have a lot to offer and shouldn't squander their talents on trivial things," Liliana remarked thoughtfully, agreeing with Alma that they could become a well-informed populace, problem was getting past that self-absorbed, entitled nature a lot of the kids on the island seemed to have.

Alma raised an eyebrow, kind of surprised by Lilianna's answer. Her tail swayed back and forth as she thought about what the other girl said. "I mean, I think that's a pretty bold oversimplification. Am I lazy, then, for flying when I can? Should I walk everywhere because not everyone can fly?"

Alma paused and took a breath. "Sorry, I'm not trying to sound patronizing. I'm just trying to understand your position. Magic and supernatural powers still take effort. And magic is at the core of a lot of the things that make Manta Carlos society as good as it already is."

Liliana just stared calmly at Alma, and let her rant, "I know magic and the supernatural are at the core of this society." she stated simply. "I am very aware of that actually." she said as she looked past Alma and blinked as she saw what she assumed was a spirit of some sort flash and disappear into the nothingness.

"I'm simply saying magic should not be taken for granted and, yes, it is being lazily whipping up a ham sandwich using magic when the effort required to make one by hand is almost zero."

"Especially, if you want to teach them " the skills to learn to make healthy, delicious meals for themselves"," Liliana said as she quoted Alma's words back to her. "How are they going to learn something like that, if making a simple sandwich is beyond them?" she asked pointedly.

"My point is that using magic, all the time for everything, and depending on it always, as well as not appreciating it is not a good thing," Liliana said with a sigh as she unclasped her hands from behind her back.
