The sun shined high in the sky blinding those that looked up at it, with it came heat and no relief from it due to a lack of wind. Within the trees of the woods was cover and even some truly beautiful springs where you could easily refresh yourself, but anyone who knew the woods well knew they had to use moderation and care as to not contaminate the natural order. This woods was a bit different than a normal land of thick trees, it contained wildlife both normal of Earth and not, not to mention all the random magical plants and objects that could be found one day and lost the next.

Ebbie had been enjoying all the sunlight. Climbing through the trees on a nice sunny summer day was wonderful and energizing and she was in an excellent mood. School was going well and her new job at the orchard had been even better than she had expected. Today though her only plans were to enjoy the forest and keep an eye out for people hurting nature. It was a vague plan but it was essentially what she had been doing for most of her life. Just not here in these woods until she came through the portal several months back.

As she slipped quietly through the trees above she heard some very faint indistinct sounds that seemed just a little out of place among the normal sounds of the forest. She was not close enough or keen enough of ear to distinguish what it was but it sounded a lot like animals fleeing through the brush. She decided to drop behind a large tree to put her glamour back on. Also slipping her simple and short tan and green dress on for modesty she slowly approached the area she had heard the sounds from.

Ebbie, barefoot and surrounded by her swarm of butterflies but otherwise appearing to be a very beautiful human, stepped closer and spotted two things. One, there was a figure wearing.. well a lot of red standing ahead of her, and two there was a dead deer on the ground. Very calmly and sweetly she spoke up towards the figure, hoping not to spook them into attacking her, "I hope you killed that animal for sustenance and not sport." Even as she spoke her butterflies began to spread out and they seemed to act a little strangely. They didn't appear hostile, though butterflies normally didn't, but they seemed to be making a sort of rough and imperfect barrier. A show of separation between Ebbie and the figure in red.

As Ain prepared to harvest his deer kill, he heard something approaching and getting closer, his hearing was no better than a humans so he didn't really notice until it was too late with his eyes closed as they were.

Ain's eyes opened to the femine sounding voice, a question of his intentions with the deer and knew instantly it was a person that understood the rules of the woods. He turned to face this person and was surprised, the person that had talked to him was dazzlingly beautiful human, an attractive women even for Elf standards. As he looked at her from violet eyes beneath his red helmet but quickly averted them, he recoiled back a step, he really wasn't used to women. If not for the fact that he had just shot a deer with an arrow, he might have thought to run away and he knew he could get away too.

Decidingly, he nodded at the girl without a word and bent down to the deer and pulled out the arrow slowly as to not make a mess. His hand then pulled over the body feeling the warmth of the animal, he was really sorry for having to hunt but he needed to eat and he lacked any money to buy food - not to mention he also lacked the ability to comunicate he wanted to buy something. Ain glanced back at the girl noticing for the first time that butterflies circled her, of course, she was too beautiful to be a normal girl but he at this time had no idea who or what she was.

It was always difficult to get a point across, no dialogue, no written communication, couldn't get close or his aura would effect them; was there a way he could reveal his intentions to this girl with his handicap?

The figure was a flighty one- at least partially. Ebbie didn't know exactly why they had looked the other way and then stepped back but she recognized the body language of someone who did not really want to stay there if they didn't have to. She could have laughed at how similar the instinct was to that of the deer that had just been killed.

Ebbie was starting to become annoyed with this stranger for not really addressing her. The head nod was either an acknowledgement that she was there, an answer to her questioning statement or both but as far as she was concerned it felt like they were ignoring her. However she remained where she was, keeping close to a tree trunk in case the figure decided to turn their bow on her. As she grew a little annoyed the butterflies seemed to flap just a little bit faster and fly a little more erratically. Still not approaching the figure but definitely noticeable to someone paying attention.

She remained standing there closely watching as the figure seemed to be taking great care in how he treated the killed animal. Protecting nature did not mean that she abhorred hunting. Actually she was fine with it as long as it was necessary and handled properly. After all, predators killed prey all the time and it was completely natural. So far this strangely dressed man wasn't disrespecting nature. Aside from her own personal annoyance there wasn't anything to be upset over. Unfortunately annoying a fae could be enough to cause problems.

Ebbie locked eyes on Ain as he glanced back at her, letting him know that she was still very much focused on him and his actions. "Were you going to reply to me or just leave me to watch you? I don't appreciate being ignored," she said with the same calm tone in her voice, though there was also a very noticeable edge to her voice where before it had been more sweet. The swarm of butterflies continued their agitated flight around Ebbie.

Ain was annoyed by the unknown girls insistance on talking to her, it wasn't like he was doing it on purpose after all. The curse that he had was one that seemingly blocked any and all communication, it wasn't a good feeling, but he had at least started to get used to these awkward situations on some level.

He got up from his kneel and looked at her for a few moments, he really was used to dealing with girls and their impossible demands. He lifted his chin so she could get a better look at his mouth, and pointed to it with his freehand and shook his head. Hopefully he got the message across that he couldn't talk, but their has been several times where his terrible gestures had the opposite effect.

While he waited for a possible response, he put his bow away and strapped it to his back - throwing the arrow he retrieved back in his quiver after wiping it off. He really hoped this wouldn't turn aggressive, like almost every other time...

Ebbie carefully and warily watched as the man stood up and made his gestures. She read the movements as him saying either he could not or would not talk to her. That was annoying but it wasn't like he was the first person she had encountered that couldn't speak the same language as her. At least he appeared to be able to understand her.

The man didn't seem to be out in the woods to harm nature but she was still a little curious about him. He was dressed differently than the people she had met on the island and she got the impression he knew what he was doing out in the woods.

"If I understand your gestures, you answering me verbally isn't an option. You can gesture instead. My name is Ebbie. Do you live here in the forest?" As her tone lost some of the edge in it the butterflies began to relax a little bit

"You may clean your kill if you wish. It should not be allowed to go to waste," she said as she took a few steps closer to Ain. Not nearly close enough to come within striking distance of his knife or, coincidentally, his aura.

It was a relief that the women, referring to herself as Ebbie, understood his gestures as it was fifty fifty whether it would work. He did wonder why a girl was approaching possibly dangerous men in the woods, if this had been The Forbidden Forest she would have been attacked and possibly killed. It seemed that she was at home in the woods however, she definitely wasn't a normal human.

When Ebbie asked if he lived in the forest, he nodded and pointed in the direction of The Forbidden Forest, not entirelky sure if she even knew about it and its dangers. She appeared to be acting more friendly and allowed him to get back to his kill, so he did just that and knelt down next to the deer. He took out a knife and began what was a messy process of preparing it which would likely take a while.

Ain didn't know how the girl felt about what he was doing and in fact had not done this while another had watched before, this was a bit awkward, every once in a while he turned to look at Ebbie and checked on her to see if she was okay. Before too long, the process was done and the meat was bagged, the pelt was bagged separately and what remained he covered with forest green - leaving it for nature to take the rest.

He washed his hands in a nearby creek, and returned to Ebbie; He nodded to her as if to say, all done.

Ebbie certainly knew the dangers that lurked within the woods. She didn't normally frequent the forbidden section of the woods because the limited sunlight made it less than enjoyable. She respected the dangers but didn't exactly fear them. If she did go in there it was usually for a specific purpose. She never slept in that portion of the woods.

The sight of a slain animal being cleaned and prepared by a hunter didn't really have too much of an impact on Ebbie. It was already dead and it apparently wasn't going to waste. Each time he glanced back she would have been still standing quietly, watching with a calm, neutral expression. Her butterflies continued to randomly flit about more or less like normal butterflies but they always returned back to her vicinity.

Though she was watching everything, she was more focused on how the man was acting than on the gory details. By the time he was covering over the remains she had decided he was not really a threat to nature. He had shown her that he respected the woods and it's creatures.

"I've been watching and your actions make it seem like you have respect for nature. Would you mind if I walked with you for a little while?" Part of her justification for coming to the island had been to determine for herself if there were people that could be trusted with nature here. Most of her people believed that wasn't the case. While speaking she took a few more steps, coming very close to crossing that unseen line for his aura. Some of the swarm of butterflies flitted closer to Ain in their random paths.

((does the aura have an effect on animals or just people?))

It was a bit curious how calm the girl was being, any girl from his world would have turned away or been grossed out but not this one. It was still early, but Ebbie was a good person he thought, at least in terms of how she treated nature. He heard her words, and nodded to them, it was indeed true that he respected nature... now at least. His old self had burned down forests and fields to smoke out rebels, and at that point he did not regret it at all; now however he would never do that again.

Ain kept his distance while throwing the bag of harvested material over his shoulder, and started walking while looking back at her almost kindly if she could see his expression. It was okay to have company while he looked around, but he wasn't really sure what they would even do together.

As he walked he found a trap in the woods, it was a simple bear trap that could be seen anywhere, he saw a bear once but he took his time and disarmed it; Putting the trap in his bag, he knew that he could probably use this.

It was probably good that Ain couldn't accidentally bring up his fiery past around Ebbie. Hearing about burning down forests and fields... well it wouldn't have gone well. But she didn't know about any of that, only what she had observed thus far from watching him.

She did notice how he kept moving to ensure there was a distance between them. Either out of distrust or some of the reason. Her butterflies had gone much closer to him but they didn't seem to have any reaction and as far as she could tell he wasn't shooing them away or anything yet. The man kept looking back at her but he didn't seem to be that unfriendly, just maybe not used to being around people? She couldn't quite tell.

Once they found the trap she narrowed her eyes. Traps like that were made to catch an animal and leave it to suffer until the trapper returned to check on it. Which could be days depending on the person who set them. What's more is where there was one trap there could very well be more lying in wait around the area. "You intend to use that torturous device?" She asked with disgust dripping in her voice. "Maybe I was wrong about you after all."
