Wasting time

He nodded, understanding exactly what she meant. "I know... I mean, I've got a huge family, but they still manage to be on close personal terms with everybody. Which is probably why Ada and me were so close; we're the only ones who don't really know what to do with that."

"You're probably... I don't think she really hates me, but I don't know how I can get her to stop givin' me the silent treatment. Little brat, won't ever admit she's wrong about anything." He grinned, shaking it off. "But. Too nice a day to complain about the past, hmm? Are you hungry? I bought a few apples from the fruit stand in town yesterday... Don't get me wrong, waxy bruised cafeteria apples are good, but you can't beat the real thing." He pulled two apples from the huge pocket near the bottom of his coat, forgetting to wait for an answer before tossing one to her.

Atalia gave a gentle smile, catching the apple, and taking a small bite. After she chewed and swallowed it down she uttered a "Thanks!"

She laughed a little and noticed a small bird trying to figure out how to get his acorn unstuck from two roots woven tightly together.

"Take a look over there.. poor guy, got his lunch stuck!" Atalia got up, and set her apple down near where she was sitting, and carefully slid down to where the bird was. She picked up the acorn with a little tug, and held it out flat in her hand for the bird to get. The bird at first looked uncertain, grabbed it, and then flew off quickly.

She laughed again, and made her way carefully back up to the boulder, this time fluttering up. "I'm sure glad I have aposable thumbs, I'd be in real trouble if I didn't! I drop things all the time!"

He grinned at the nervous bird snatching his lunch away, wondering if she'd said anything to him to make him accept it. The wildlife around SA seemed to be very wary of humans...
"I've always wondered - how does that work? I mean, is it a babel fish sort of thing, where everything's turned into English, or do you just know what their body language means?" He watched her fly back up, grinning at her fluttering wings. Each person with wings used them differently, it seemed, and hers was quite endearing. Not that he'd ever admit it, of course.

[ooc: guh, sorry. I keep going 'when is she gonna post? O_o' and then I realize you've already posted a day ago ;_; I'm stupiddd...]

As she sat back down, she gave him a small smile, "well, to you, I'm just mumbling, but to the bird and myself, its bird-speak. But yes, it's kind of wierd, I was very astonished whenever I first understood a bird yelling at me for getting to close to its nest...because I was trying to prove to Ela that I can climb a tree." She blushed, and looked away, giggling a little.

((LOL, its quite alright, I did the same for you, haha  ))

He couldn't stop himself from grinning, imagining the look on her face. "How long have you had your powers?" He asked, hoping he wasn't prying or anything. Even so long after he'd discovered his, he really didn't know that much about powers, and he had been trying to figure out some sort of pattern for some time. Either that, or he just wanted to know more about her....

"How long have you had your powers?"

Atalia thought for second, not really sure how long she had them, but figured it was probably since birth, "Well, I suppose ever since I was born... Though I tried to hide them, since Ela couldn't control hers as well as I could mine... Plus, our parents didn't want us, since we had powers, so we both tried to pretend we didn't have them for awhile... They still... Didn't love us though... " Her voice trailed off as tears started welling in her eyes, she quickly wiped them away, I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to cry, she kept telling herself, over, and over.

"What about you?" She looked at him with genuine care, and gentleness.

Noah frowned over at her, throwing up a quick power block. He didn't like to see people upset - well, unless it was someone he didn't like. Or someone he didn't know... Or someone - ok, fine. He didn't like to see her upset. He gently tilted her chin up with two fingers, lightly brushing away a tear she'd missed with his thumb. "Hey. If they wouldn't love you just because you have powers, maybe they're not the kinds of people you'd want to love you, anyway." It made pretty much no sense, and would probably somehow make her feel worse... Slowly, Noah remembered that the reason he didn't help people was because he was crap at it. At least the block had worked - he'd done something right.

"What about you?"

He looked back at her, trying to discern if she was alright or not. "Ah... With the whole sister thing, so maybe a year ago..." He replied absent-mindedly.

A pause, and then, suddenly - "you should go to the festival. I'm sure it'd be fun, besides all the people everywhere... You could drop hints to your boyfriend and he could finally pick up on them at the last minute, and everything'd be wonderful." He grinned softly over at her, one eyebrow arched in question.

She gave him a small smile, and sniffed a little. Looking away. "I suppose your right, if they couldn't love me for who I was... I guess they didn't deserve us. My Grandmother loved us though. For a little bit..."

Atalia looked at him curiously. "Boyfriend?"

"Boyfriend?"

He glanced over at her, not understanding. "You know, your friend who is also a boy who is also a romantical interest. So you can spend all day snogging and saying 'I loooove you...." A pause. "No offense." The thought did not enter his head that she might not have a boyfriend, although she'd only been here for a week or so.

Atalia gave him a funny look and laughed a little uneasily. "What makes you think I have a boyfriend?" Her voice trailed off and she glanced over at him, and gave him a michevious grin. She though she might play off him, she didn't have a boyfriend, but was curious to find out why he thought she might have.

Silly boys.
