"There's one!" Riley pointed at a poster on one of the nearby trees. 'FORBIDDEN ENTRY,' said the yellowing paper. Riley was at the edge of the Forbidden Forest with one of the new kids, a nerdy freshman called Yuki. They ended up talking about the forbidden forest after power classes earlier today, and Riley had told him about all the cool plants and animals over here. She'd seen a lot of them with her own eyes, she had told him.

Riley continued: "Like I said though, it's not actually a rule. We're allowed to be there now, it's just nobody got rid of the signs or something." Not like that would have stopped Riley either way, but Yuki seemed worried about it.

Riley did a front flip over a tree stump just past the poster, then turned around to face Yuki again.

"What's the biggest spider you've ever seen?"

Yuki couldn't believe it.

How had he been coaxed into coming here? How had he trusted a young child who probably didn't know danger when she saw it? How was she not afraid at all? Everything about this was screaming "DANGER!" in bright flashing red neon signs, and Yuki wanted no part in it. He could swear he felt an evil presence emanating from the very trees themselves, as if they watched him, ready to leer and laugh at his misfortune or...worse. But Yuki didn't want to think of such things, otherwise he felt he might faint from the shock...

"The b-biggest spider I've ever seen was... a house spider... They're pre-pretty small, so when I see one I normally just put it outside... maybe they all come here, ready to take their revenge on me for k-kicking them out..." Yuki managed to speak despite the fear, forcing himself to carry on going forward despite his fear. As he stepped right past the poster, he felt an chilling sense of having entered an evil being's domain. Yuki left a purple stone behind him, hoping it'd help him mark his way like from the Hansel and Gretel story. "So how about you? Seen any spiders?" he asked, trying to make small talk to calm himself down.

Perhaps this situation wasn't too different... fearsome woods, a boy and girl, both young... Yuki just hoped this story wouldn't involve him nearly getting roasted in a witch's oven.

Riley had wanted to show off, but she had a better read on Yuki's feelings than that. Kid was nervous.

"Uhh... yeah. There's these really big spiders in the trees here. They're big enough to catch birds in their webs. My friend said they're called Manta Carlos Giant Spiders, and a mad scientist made them." This was Riley trying to calm him down. Giant bird-eating spiders were small talk, comparatively. She wasn't going to mention the gargantuan nesting spiders unless one of them showed up.

"You know, I'm way more dangerous than anything else here. So you don't have to be all scared."

To prove her point, she flicked a low hanging branch on a dead tree. With a pop! the part she flicked disintegrated instantly. "I said I was a destruction goddess earlier, right?" This was Riley's idea of calming him down.
