Ambrose had just finished packing all his things away in his room. He was genuinely surprised by how nice the room was. He had expected tiny rooms, all being beat up and dusty as all hell. However, his room had proved him wrong. It was a decent size, large enough to accommodate open space as well as the furniture in the room, which consisted of a dresser, two single beds, a table and two chairs. The floor was a soft carpet, which was perfect for him, as he hated wooden floors. They always found a way to slice his feet and give him splinters. He smiled at the room, before laying back on his bed, trying to decide what to do.

He remembered that he had seen some gardens, as well as a vast courtyard outside before entering the school. Perhaps he should go for a small walk. He may meet others, and even if he didn't, it would be nice just to enjoy being outside. It was a nice day, after all, and still early as well. He guessed that stood as a testament to how little things he had brought with him, that it hadn't taken him long at all to pack away his belongings.

Ambrose stood, taking the key to his room and pocketing it, before locking the door and making his way back outside, venturing to the courtyard. Once there, he started a walk around the multiple paths, noting the plants, flowers, and trees that he recognized. They reminded him of when he was little, and his mother had a small garden of her own. She had always been in it, planting and digging, or other things. It seemed the garden had always needed work, and eventually it got away from her. It was a sad thought, all the work she had put into the small area gone to waste.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Ambrose decided that that was enough walking, and would go to find a place amidst the main courtyard to sit. Eventually, he came across a bench that rested beneath the shadow of a large tree. By now, the sun was beating down, and it was growing quite hot, so he was glad he had found a place in the shade. Sitting there, Ambrose would idly watch the passersby, wondering of he would be joined by someone else. He had never been very social, but he knew he needed to change that here. It never payed to be the one person that was always alone.

Shinji had been walking around school for a good half of an hour wondering on what would be a good spot to go ad meditate on his thoughts and power. He didn't know if he should stay in his own room or go out into nature and find some place that would soothe him. Shinji wasn't one to make well with friends but maybe he might find someone to talk to. As he walked the halls, he passed by multiple students who seemed to be alone as well but none of them seemed to notice him. Maybe it was because he was walking so close to the wall? Either way, they didn't want to talk and neither did he at the moment. Soon enough, he got bored of just walking around the inside of the building on such a beautiful day. It was the top of the day though so the Sun would be a killer to the skin and would make it hot if you are just sitting around. That gave Shinji some new standards for where he would need to be for a peaceful time. Somewhere shady, quiet, and away from many people. the more people, the more problems he would have to deal with. Soon enough, Shinji found himself outside in the courtyard of the academy. "How did I end up out here? Where did I just go?" He said to himself aloud trying to figure out where he just went. he was confused but it didn't matter since this place was more than enough of a good place to stay.

As Shinji kept on with his journey around the academy grounds, he began to move along each of the different pathways that were in the courtyard. He didn't know where he was going to end up but there was no way it could drop him in a place that was unbearable. As he walked further and further, he came up onto a spot that was very floral and beautifully attended to. But unfortunately the Sun was starting to get to him. He was getting hot and tired of walking. Shinji stopped and took a look around for a bench to sit on but most of them were out in the open or taken. But there was one, just one that had shade. The perfect amount, but there was someone there. there was enough room to sit 3 people on said bench and Shinji knew that he had to get out of the sun now. Taking a huge sigh, Shinji calmly walked over to the man sitting on the bench and sat at the far end away from him. he looked at him briefly before turning away and saying, "Beautifully hot day today, right?"Shinji kept a straight face as he didn't know how to react around this person. He didn't know anything about him but maybe he would be someone cool.

Ambrose had been idly watching this man walk around for a while. He seemed to be enjoying being outside, but he walked with a purpose to his step. Like he was looking for something indefinitely. He hoped that he wasn't looking for someone to talk to. He wasn't social. He grimaced at the thought of having to share his space and talk with someone else. He knew he should cast those thoughts aside, though. Just because he wasn't social didn't mean he had to be a pain. He could at least hold his end of a conversation, if it came to that, and besides, he might like this other person. They may prove to change his mind.

With a slow demeanor, the man made his way to the bench. Ah, so he had been searching for someone, and he had caught his eye. Either that, or he had been looking for a place to sit. Seeing as Ambrose was on the far end, it was easy to pretend he was dis-interested in this man as he approached, but he was silently watching him. The man sat down on the opposite end of the bench from him, a comfortable space between them as the bench was made to seat three people. As the man sat down, Ambrose would look the other way, waiting to see if he would try to be social. If not, there was no need to push it on him.

"Beautifully hot day today, right?" The man said, asking for Ambrose's opinion. That was an understatement. It was well over just hot now, Ambrose wagering a guess for around 95 degrees farenheit. Well, at least it was an easy way to start a conversation. Ambrose felt eyes gaze at him, then turn away.

"Yeah, perfect day to be inside an air conditioned room or in the shade. Gotta love summer, right?" Ambrose would reply, turning to face the man as he spoke. He hoped that the man would return his look. It felt much more natural to talk to someone face to face. If the man would turn to meet his gaze, Ambrose would flash his eyes, changing color for a second before returning them to normal. He loved showing off, as it was what he did best.

Shinji just sat on the bench in a nonchalant manner. He didn't want to draw attention to himself as he didn't even know if the man sitting near him was nice or not. Making his first remark to try and start a conversation because it was the polite thing to do, he sat and waited for a response, if one was even coming. Not too long after he said something, the man made his statement as well. "Yeah, perfect day to be inside an air conditioned room or in the shade. Gotta love summer, right?" the man said as he turned to look at Shinji. Shinji could feel his eyes lock on to him although he didn't have an ability to help him notice this, his nerves seemed to aided him in this. Shinji debated with himself on whether or not he should return the eye contact. "Agh, maybe I should make eye contact with him. Maybe I shouldn't though. Yea but its rude not to so I guess I should." He said this to himself within his thoughts. First Shinji looked through the corner of his eye to see if the man was still looking at him. He was. So Shinji decided to look at him. He turned his head fully, just his head, and looked at the man's eyes. Shinji smirked as he thought about what the man had replied. "Yea that's true although I would rather be outside, its more relaxing." He paused for a moment as he sighed. "Though I would rather have it be cooler than this out here." By this time, Shinji will have looked away after keeping eye contact with him for the duration of his statement. "It seems he isn't an ass." Shinji thought to himself before he looked the man back in the eye awaiting his response.

Ambrose smirked as the man gave his reply, and promptly looked away. Well, at least he had made eye contact for the statement. That showed he was trying, and hopefully interested. So, it seemed the he too had interest in being outside. At least he wasn't the only one. However, he said he preferred cool weather to temperatures as hot as it was now. Well, that he could agree with. Ambrose personally preferred weather when it was sunny, but only 75 degrees. Not too hot, not too cold. The perfect goldilocks zone for heat.

"Yeah, it's a bit too hot for my tastes, but it doesn't bother me. I'm...used to the heat." Ambrose would look around for something to focus his eyes on, as he responded to the man. It seemed he wasn't that big of a fan of eye contact, and he didn't want to make him uncomfortable or nervous. Besides, eye contact angered some people, and he didn't want a fight on his first day. At least, not with someone who hadn't wronged him, as he hoped this man wouldn't.

"Name's Ambrose, by the way. Care if I ask for yours?" Ambrose would say, finding a large willow tree, not far off, blowing in the breeze for him to look at, in the meantime at least.

Shinji avoided eye contact for the most part. but this wasn't because he hated making eye contact with others, it was just that this man brought off a different vibe that Shinji wasn't used to. It was nothing bad but it was just different, highly unique as one might say. But in a way, Shinji wanted to know more about this man. "Glad someone agrees with me about the weather." Shinji said looking off into the distance. "I wonder why he is so used to it." Shinji though to himself just before the man introduced himself as Ambrose. Shinji looked over to him and extended his hand out to offer to shake his. This wasn't unusual for Shinji to do but it may have seemed different for Shinji to be shaking the hand of another person with an abnormality to them. "I'm Shinji. I'm new here though." Shinji started awaiting Ambrose to shake his hand. "This is only my second day here actually. I've been wondering around trying to get used to this large place." Shinji stopped after this but left his hand out for Ambrose to shake it. A small breeze rolled by. But fortunately, Shinji was under the shade so he could feel the full extent of the breeze without feeling the harsh rays of the sun taking away the glory or said cooling air. By now, Shinji's nerves will have adjusted to Ambrose's unique vibe and he was oddly comfortable now. Although, he felt like he was overreacting to the whole 'meeting someone new' situation.

Ambrose would smirk as Shinji introduced himself, holding his hand out for a handshake. That was something he hadn't seen in a while. Where he had come from, everyone knew him, and no one wanted to. It was different for someone to actually want to know him, and even show him courtesy and respect. However, Shinji seemed...off, almost as though he was trying to get used to something. Or someone, seeing as he was here.

Ambrose would take Shinji's hand, shaking it. He felt glad to know that there were other newcomers here as well.

"Yeah, i'm new here too. For the most part, i've just been wandering about as well. Glad to know i'm not the only one" Ambrose would say, noting a small, cool breeze blow past them. As it did, Shinji seemed to settle into an oddly comfortable demeanor. That was strange. Ambrose wondered if all the people here would get used to him this quickly. Then again, Shinji had no idea what it was that he could do...

"So, are you...special?" Ambrose would ask, awaiting the moment of truth. If Shinji had powers, then he would take solace in the fact that there was at least one other person here who wasn't normal. If he was human, and had no powers, Ambrose would keep hope for another like him. Surely, the brochure he had been given couldn't have lied.

Shinji smirked a little as he shook Ambrose's hand. He had felt that he may have made a new acquaintance. At least with someone native to this planet. Its not like Shinji had anything against the girl he met the other night, he enjoyed talking to her and learning of her planet but he would much prefer to talk to someone who knows about this planet as well. Makes for better conversation. Ambrose didn't seem to have a problem with talking to someone Like Shinji. In fact, he seemed to welcome it slightly. Eventually Shinji would have to go somewhere else, though so he can get that training and meditating done but for now he would chat. There was no harm in a small conversation, right? Shinji let go of Ambrose's hand and stuck it in his pocket along with his other hand. He kept eye contact though but that wouldn't last long as he looked away once Ambrose asked his next question. "So, are you...special?" He asked. Shinji didn'tlook at him when he responded. "Umm, yea I guess. I mean aren't we all?" Shinji was a little cofused about this question as the letter that was sent to him yo attend this academy said that the whole island was special in its own way. He assumed that when he read that, they were implying that the whole island was inhabited by 'special' humans and other beings. Well maybe not. "How about yourself?" Shinji asked while turning to look at Ambrose. Obviously Ambrose had to be different from normal people. Shinji just wanted to know what made him special and unique. Maybe he would be the same as Shinji power wise. But he seriously doubted that.

Ambrose let out a small sigh of relief that Shinji had powers. So, it seemed that they hadn't lied after all, this really was a place that welcomed powers and non-humans. Maybe he could find a home in this place after all. He felt relieved, he felt safe, he felt...welcomed.

"Well, i'm not entirely sure everyone here is special, but for the majority i'd guess so. I just wasn't sure to trust the letter and stuff they sent me. I mean, people lie. But i'm glad to know they weren't." Ambrose would reply, his face dropping slightly as he mentioned people lying, but he would cover it up almost as soon as it had appeared.

"How about yourself?" Shinji asked him. Ambrose would give a sad smile. He knew this question would come, and now he just needed to hope that Shinji wouldn't run from him.

"Well...yeah, I have...powers, but they're hard to explain. It'd be easier if I showed you, really. But don't freak out, alright?" Ambrose would say, looking to see if there were any passersby. When he saw there were none, Ambrose would stand, not wanting to be close to Shinji, lest he get burned.

Ambrose would close his eyes, his skin changing color to dark black, swirls of crimson adorning and decorating the black background. His wings would appear, and flames would steadily roll down his arms, pooling at his hands before dissapearing. Ambrose would open his eyes, revealing the vivid crimson they had become. The transformation wouldn't take long, a few seconds if that.

"Well, what do you think? Special enough for you?" Ambrose would say, before changing back and sitting back down, a smirk adorning his face.

Ambrose let out a sigh. He seemed to be letting out some stress or something within the sigh itself, like he was trying to be relieved. Shinji noticed this but didn't react because it wasn't really anything that important to react to. He just merely observed. "Well, from the letter, I thought this entire island was for people with abnormalities, powers, abilities, or whatever you wanted to classify it as. I mean, there is no way that we would know really considering there are so many people in the academy alone. We would never be able to ask them all." Shinji paused in what he was saying as he noticed that Ambrose's expression was lost but quickly regained. If it wasn't for Shinji's abnormally high reaction time, he never would have noticed such a quick change. It was fast indeed. Ambrose responded to Shinji's recent question as well as looked around to see if anyone else was looking. He got up and put some distance between the two before showing what he had inside. "Don't freak out? Ah, so he is about to show me his powers. I hope that they are truly something spe--" Shinji's thought process was cut off by Ambrose's transformation. The sudden change was extremely unexpected. Shinji didn't see it coming but reacted quickly out of shear reflex. "Oh crap!" Shinji yelled out as he rolled over the back of the bench. He wasn't much scared but he was shocked to the largest extent. Once he landed on his feet from moving over the bench, he readied himself sparking lightning in both palms. His heart was racing from this event which made his mind generate too much lightning in his hands. At this point, skin was ripping from both hands and disintegrating immediately. Luckily he was healing just as fast as he was being injured so there wasn't much effect. "Jeez man, Sorry for the freak out but you have to warn someone before you go doing such a drastic change." Shinji wasn't mad or scared but he was a little to shocked from this. he didn't mean to freak out like he did but subconsciously he was always for something with this big of a shock.

Only moments went by after both of the academy attendees had made some kind of move. Shinji stood up from his ready stance that he was in. He tried to calm his nerves and mind so that he wouldn't hurt himself. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. Opening his eyes, the lightning from his palms had disappeared and his hands were beginning to fully heal. Smirking, Shinji made a statement. "Sorry about that." He started as he walked a little closer to him. "Once the shock is gone, you actually look pretty cool. Something out of a movie really." He said as he stopped in front of Ambrose. The heat that Ambrose was radiating was almost completely overwhelming though. Shinji wouldn't dare get any closer and risk getting burnt. "So what exactly is this?" Shinji said as he stared at the man's skin. He was getting curious now.
