As the sun crested over the treetops, the cool day breeze brushed past the blades of grass exiting the woods, it was a new day for everyone but more so for those that have stayed stagnant for so long. The memory of what was outside the woods and The Forbidden Forest beyond that was all he had known for a long time, though pass of time didn't really bother him as much as it would others. How long has it been, he wasn't keeping track, but if he had he would know that it had been fifty years of living within here.

The crunch of the branches and leaves could be heard in the distance as a person's steps from the woods with effortless easy, a blur of red as the figure swiftly moves between the trees, not going as fast as he could so he could enjoy the scenery. He slowed to the border of the woods and stopped, he had reached the end of the woods as the outside became more lit and open. The figure wore a red dragonscale helmet the kind that wasn't available in this world, a cloak of red additionally added to his motif of his favorite color, and his black Elven boots that were clearly not of the same make as the rest. Despite his appearance he was an Elf, an Elf from another world, his name was Ain Augusta.

***

Ain's thoughts tended to wander when he was alone, he knew that he needed to find a way to produce better results with the forest harvests to improve food production but he was no expert. The whole concept was foreign to him, yet he knew he had to do it if he were to return in live in The Forbidden Forest again. He sighed, stepping out with quiet and slow steps as he stepped across the grassy field leading out of the woods. Though he was a bit hungry he pushed on, until he reached a cemetary that he didn't even know was there. Within his mind he thought, "I really know nothing about this island as long as I have been here," and took a seat on a broken wall leading further in to the cemetary proper.

With luck Ain hoped that he could accomplish his task without drawing unwanted attention, and return as swiftly as he came. Such a hope, it was unrealistic, it wouldn't be long before he encountered people as he got closer to the city. With that he zoned out a little and went into a trance upon the wall as the sun had finally risen high in the sky.

It had been a while, years even, since Noel had been out to the woods, and even longer since he had visited the cemetery on Manta Carlos. Dressed in his usual attire, a rather formal looking pinstriped dark gray suit, complete with a vest, and an old-fashioned pocket watch on a gold chain dangling from a side pocket, Noel placed a small bouquet of carnations on a partially moss-covered headstone.

The headstone belonged to an old friend, one that had followed him to Manta Carlos years ago when he was searching for the Goddess of Summer. His friend had not been immortal - but almost. Time was never forgiving to those whose clocked ticked by, slowly catching up with them eventually...

"It's been a while, old friend. Maybe too long." Noel said as he patted the headstone fondly. The mortal custom of burying the dead had seemed rather strange to him at first. But over time, he had come to accept the custom, considering it a memorial to life rather than a dark lonely tomb where the dead would become forgotten over time as their loved ones also passed, on only to be remembered by their neglected headstones.

"Things are well. You'll be happy to know I have finally decided it's time to hire on another assistant." Noel said smiling as he talked, his gaze focused first on the sky in the distance, lowering his gaze, he noticed someone just sitting on the far wall of the cemetery.

Ain's right eye flicked open under his helmet as he heard someone talking nearby, in a nervous state he shook a little unused to being near people, contemplating for longer than he should have on whether he should run right back to the Forbidden Forest and hide. The elven body of his stiffened, and though he never intended to--he had listened in on the words of the man. It was all too common for people to die, but the prospect of death never really phased him as he is one that knew that when your time came you shouldn't hesitate to let go. Unfortunate as it was, he had already ended his life once, but here he was given a chance to reflect on it.

OH CRAP.

He got SOO lost in thought that the man had noticed him, a bearded old man, this was a chance however to try to act normally. This whole attempt was probably in vain, yet he hopped from the wall and slid down a bit of a hill towards the old man stopping about twenty feet back before his dark cursed aura could effect him. Though he was aware of the dark aura, it made things even more difficult than just not being able to speak as anyone within ten feet would be hit be a fear effect that Ain could not control.

Awkwardly he raised a hand stiffly and attempted to gesture hello.

As the figure started to move closer, upon being spotted, Noel found himself noticing certain details about the stranger that he couldn't make out from afar. As the figure came ever closer, but halting suddenly, a few feet from Noel, he noticed first the red cloak, then the red helmet, and lastly the figure itself. Rather surprised by this, Noel found himself also lifting a hand in greeting.

There before him was an elf of some sort. What a curious thing, he found himself thinking, Elven folk had become less and less popular, visible perhaps, throughout the ages and it was quite rare to see them, even living here on Manta Carlos, there weren't that many.

"Hello there," Noel said warmly as he greeted the elf, "Nice day, isn't it? I hope I wasn't intruding on you somehow." he added in a polite tone. "I'm Noel Sinterklaas, God of the Winter Solstice, at your service," he said, introducing himself.

Ain's brow furrowed with the questions, none of which he could answer with a gesture of any kind but he would try. His body shifted in place but still remain away from him to avoid problems, and began shrugging, gesturing randomly with his hands in order to let the moment pass. This wasn't working as usual, but he didn't have much choice.

WAIT.

Did the man just introduce himself as a god of all things, does he think he is such a fool to believe such a obvious lie. Many races existed on the island but the idea of a god standing among men was just too much. Not that he could really say anything about it, but without really intending to he narrowed his eyes in an annoyed expression under his helmet. Gods were much bigger and more dignified in his world, it just couldn't be.

As the elf made random and rather strange gestures, Noel furrowed his brow trying to understand whether he was trying to work a spell on him, or communicate through some type of sign language. But as the elf gestured, it became clear to Noel that it wasn't any sort of language he knew - or had known.

Then, when the elf stopped, and just looked at Noel with a somewhat incredulous look, Noel had to chuckle. He had seen that look before when he introduced himself as the God of the Winter Solstice.

"You don't believe me, do you?" he said with a twinkle in his eye, "That I'm a God."

"That's not surprising, I suppose, most people seem to expect Gods to look like Gods," Noel said with a shrug, very used to people being sceptical.

"How about I prove it to you?" Noel said with a tiny grin as he put out a hand, "And I make it snow?" he stated just as huge, cold, wet and feather-like snowflakes started to fall gently all around them, affecting the area around them as the snow started to hit the ground, melting almost immediately as it did. It was still too warm for it not to melt and therefore didn't accumulate at all.

As Noel talked and asked whether or not he believe, he chuckled a bit under his breath that a man would actually believe they were a god. In his world he had encountered Elves that believed because they commanded ultimate magic that could bend the world to their wills, that they were gods, but the truth always became obvious once he shot them in the head with an arrow. How many false gods had he taken out in the past, trying to fool the masses.

Ain had enough of this person and was about to...

Noel then started casting magic which jolted him back to attention and he jumped back swiftly, in mid-air his bow came out as his purple eyes for the first time opened wide and shot a special arrow. The Arcane Breaker Arrow flew high and hit the snow coming down, and in an instant the snow was gone. Landing even farther away as he slammed into a tombstone by accident.

Ain didn't know what kind of magic it was but he figured it was Ice elemental magic of some kind, was Noel attempting to attack him?

He nocked another arrow and aimed it at Noel shakily, but did not fire.

"You can't really kill me, my friend, you may try if you like..." Noel said calmly at the elf who was aiming an arrow at him right now with an apprehensive look on his face. Just raising an eyebrow in slight surprise when arrows started flying past him, not reacting like normal a person would in such a situation. The fact was, Noel was not entirely surprised that the elf had reacted in such a way. Elves weren't known to be overly trusting creatures and so had kind of expected something unexpected.

Keeping his eye on the elf, Noel simply placed his hands behind his back, as the snow still fell around them, he wanted to show that it was not magic, he was using. Noel could simply call on nature. "It's not magic. It's nature," he said with a smile,"I can only summon the snow. It will have to stop on its own..." he explained as he glanced upward thoughtfully enjoying the summer snowfall. "Did you know each snowflake is different? No two are alike. Isn't that incredible?" he asked the elf questioningly.

As he looked on two things surprised him, the calmness of his tone that utterly disarmed him of hostile intent and the fact that his Arcane Breaker Arrow had failed to stop him from calling down snow. Usually regardless of the effect conjured, the arrow would destroy it and the effect would end for a time. This however was entirely different, Noel's powers were not of the normal variety and while he wasn't convinced it was the power of a god; it was something beyond normal magic.

Ain unstrung his arrow and put away his bow, his tense body loosening up further is he listened to Noel's lecture about snow flakes. He just kind of nodded awkwardly, and slowly approached again not thinking their was any threats going forward. With no threat, he removed his helmet revealing his blonde hair, violet eyes, and youthful appearance that appeared to be that of a twenty year old.

"ehgGFVNJHBGJHGBJHTBFBCFCJHGYTKJVKYV," he opened his mouth to talk, forgetting for a moment that his curse prevents that. How his words came out was nothing pleasant, just incomprehensible non-sense that sounded vaguely like demon speak.

Noel watched with interest and then smiled a big friendly smile when the elf took off his helmet and revealed himself, a shock of shiny blonde hair and bright violet eyes. He also looked young, but Noel didn't put much stock in that. Appearance often gave no inkling to one's real age... he could be 50 or 500 years old for all Noel knew.

"Ahh, I see..." Noel murmured when the elf finally spoke and all that came out was a bunch of sounds, not unlike, demon tongue. Although, if it were a demon language, Noel may have understood him. Thinking for a second, considering all the possibilities, he nodded.

"Have you been cursed? A spell of some sort? I don't feel that you are a mute or dumb..." he said kindly, not at all getting that impression from the elf. While untrusting, he didn't strike Noel as stupid.
