Waking to a wall of darkness

Leo snapped back into cool and calm mood.
Right everyone, as far as i can tell. We seem to be the only ones left. And at a guess i'd say becuase our powers work during our sleep. So thank god for our powers. He paused and looked around
Yeah... thank god... he thought sacriscly.
Anyways, we need to get out of here people those things, whatever they are. Come kncoing for more blood. Because to be honest i don't like the looks of this.

Leo moved to the only thing that wasn't black. The door, he opened it slightly and peered into the hall that was the thrid floor stairway hall. It was empty.

Ok He whispered. By the looks of it. We have to get out of here, and get down to the courtyard, and out this hell hole. Now no heroics. If we get attacked, we run. No standing back to save everyone. If one runs. The rest do the same. Got it?

"If this is the War of the Worlds, why the hell aren't these things dying from disease or whatever?"
Again, he was silent.
"Can't we at least try to kill anything that gets in our way before it tells everyone else where we are? 'Cause that's the last thing we want."

Leo gripped the door handle trying to stop himself from punching the smart git.
Look. Leo said, breathing slowly. The best thing we can do, is run. We kill, they find out. He are in deep trouble. But the seem of things. They don't care too much about us. Or else they would of given us tigther secruity, people to kill us when we wake. So at half a guess they ain't here for just blood.

Damn it Ember. What are you think!? Leo thought angrly
Who knows, but if they are willing to kill this many for it, it can't be good. Come on. Leo said, opening the door and walking silently to the stairs.
They were on the thrid floor. Leo guessed that the courtyard had to be the way out.

Yeah sure... Leo said.
Hope it ain't my fault then. Leo thought to himself.

He checked the door again, and couldn't make anything out... So it seemed cleared. He opened the door and there was no-one.

Alright everyone get to the stairs and don't make a sound. Leo whispered. Moving his arm telling everyone to get moving.

Jessie, not being the early bird she would like to be, finally opened her eyes. She couldn't sleep anymore because there was a lot of panicking going on. Besides, she was getting curious. She got up, feeling groggy and walked out of her room in her pyjamas. Something felt different. But what? She looked around, then suddenly, there was blood. Jessie hated the sight of blood, as it reminds her of death and her past. Then, she let out a scream the volume of a drill.

Meanwhile, James was up for quite a while now. He was watching his favourite TV show when he heard screams. He got a fright when he heard them, so he jumped out of his seat all the way to the other side of the room and landed on his feet, with a soft impact to be cautious. He slowly opened the door and he could see blood around the hallway. Unlike Jessie, James was not sickened, but then again, he hasn't seen the bodies yet. "Hello?" he called out hoping nothing has happened to anyone, whether he knew them or not.

Leo heard the scream. It almost made him jump out of his skin. He whispered something that most kids wouldn't of heard...
Oh smart allit. He pointed at the kid who had been having a go at him. Keep the kids together and make your way to the courtyard. There's an opening there. Go!

And with that he turned and moved. Hearing the scream. He smashed into a door, it coming easly off its hinges. THere was a girl shacking like jelly in an earthquake.
You ok? Leo said in a brother tone.
