Private Wake Up Slap

“I don’t think I’ve done enough research to say for certain whether or not taking down the veil is a good idea, but I'm definitely interested in the possibility and talking about methods of doing it." Alby yawned again, still a tad out of it.

When Eein gave him his opinion on the weird veil, Alby put a finger on his chin. "I suppose. I just wish I could talk with them again and ask all the questions I have now. I think we're on the same team, so why aren't we communicating..." He was sort of keeping the whole fact that he'd gone into the forest and been possessed by that thing a secret from Eein, mostly because of the promise he made earlier that he wouldn't go in there. Unfortunately, he was still tired and wasn't thinking his words through, resulting in a few small slip ups in his wording. Particularly the word again.

It wasn’t until Eein repeated his miswording back to him that Alby realized he’d messed up. His eyes seemed to open a little more and he woke up a tad more. He still managed to stay pretty composed as Eein put the pieces together right in front of him though.

He probably could’ve come up with an excuse, but he chose not to bother. It was one thing to never bring up the fact but another to lie to his friend. “Well... Maybe just a little. But I had a really good reason, I promise, and I was going to tell you eventually.”

Alby frowned as Eein got understandably upset with him. They hadn't been friends long and he'd already broken a promise between them. "I'm sorry, I was never planning on going into the forest again, at least not without talking it over with you first." He let out a sigh.

"It was just... After my run in with Morey, who turned out to be a fake, I got really curious. I started looking around for stuff that could be linked to all those dumb rumors. Then when I finally got something, it was the librarian sneaking off into the forest. I didn't want to follow him in so deep but he kept going and eventually I ran into another person who was following someone of their own. I just had to know what was up."

"Right, that's mostly the case... I kinda got possessed by the veil a wee bit, but I'm fine now, doesn't hurt and I just have some weird scars." Alby pulled his shirt down just a little to reveal a glossy mark poking up.

He felt a little relief when Eein bapped him over the head and told him to be smarter. It felt like Eein wasn't going to hold it against him too much.

Alby nodded as Eein told him he should try to get more training. "I always practice my power every night. As for self defense training, I guess I might be lacking a little there. Maybe I'll try to look into that."

As Eein pointed out that Alby had gotten lucky twice now, he couldn't really do much other than agree. It was true and he accepted it. "Alright then it's settled, I'll start training in self defense." He gave a small chuckle and a confident grin. "Then it'll be the wolves who are getting lucky."

He cracked his knuckles, or at least he tried, there wasn't any actual sound, just the action. "I know just the dragon to train me too." He spoke matter of factly, obviously referring to Eein.
