Waiting in a coffee shop

Ruby... Lorencia liked her. She was so full of energy. They would get along great no doubt! Although the question of being a wizard did somewhat take her by surprise. With a pronounced nod, she said, "Yes! Well, a mage, but that's sort of the same thing anyway! What about you?" she said, throwing the question back to her somewhat.

Before she could get another word in, Luna and Arvin introduced themselves. For a variety of reasons, Lorencia saw a little bit of Devias in Arvin. Maybe it was his calm disposition? But other than that, she nodded to them both.

Her face lit up when Arvin answered the question meant for Ruby. Mages! More of her kind! Well, sort of. She would have known if these two were Void Walkers. She'd have seen them at least once, and she was very good with faces.

She listened to why Luna was here, and to be honest, she was a little surprised. But that aside, she turned to Arvin, and then to Luna who then asked her the same question with a few bonuses. "Well, I'm here for education and sight-seeing!" she chuckled a little before continuing. "I've been here since January. Wait, was it January...? Yup! It was January, first month of the year! Well, I've been coming and going here since I found this place."

The bell rang and she turned to look at the counter. Her coffee was ready. Two small portals opened, one right in front of the counter, and one right next to her, which she used to grab her order. It was hot, but she sipped on it like it was lukewarm. "Ahh, this is perfect!" she said with a tiny blush

Hearing this from Luna Ruby's curiosity in the girl just increased tenfold as she slams her hands down on the table again! "Wait you ARE a warrior!? Who fights evil!? There's evil here!? So you're a superhero!!" Her amazement in Luna is clear to see. "A socializing superhero of course!!"

Ruby feels her twin hand her a coffee, she takes it and is careful not to drink it yet as she waits for it to cool down. "Thanks bro bro, I'll be sure to let you know if I need any healing!" He's so talented with magic, Ruby truly hopes she'll be as amazing at it as he is one day.

Looking to Lorencia Ruby finds her curiosity and amazement increasing by the second! "So you're a mage too!! And you've been here since January! That means you're our senior! What grade are you in!?" The girl can't hold back her excitement at meeting Luna and Lorencia, they're both so cool and mysterious to her. That's why when Lorencia opens a portal to grab her coffee the girl literally squees in excitement!! "Ohmigosh a superhero and a wizard!!" Once again she shifts her attention between the two girls, taking care not to spill her coffee on anyone as she bounces around Arvin.

Arvin looked at Luna. "I'm fine." He responds in a monotonous voice. "I have yet to get used to this environment. That's all."

Arvin continues drinking his coffee, content that his twin sister is so happy. At first, he was hesitant to come to Starlight Academy, but maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all. If it means seeing Ruby enjoy herself and it gives him a chance at honing his magical skills along with acquiring new ones, he'd be glad to deal with it. Especially after his uncle, who turned out to be an incompetent teacher, failed to teach him any magic skills. After two years of training, all he learned was turning his wand into a weapon and defensive magic such as shields and healing. He hopes to get more out of his life in this school.

It was hard not to get infected with Ruby's energy, even as the squeeing made almost made her choke on her coffee. Lorencia remembered when she was this excited. For different reasons of course, but it was definitely the exact same way she reacted. And when she noticed that Ruby was bouncing around, she couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm in the 11th grade," she said, her head bobbing up and down as she kept her eyes on Ruby. Turning to Luna, she was honestly astounded that that was what she did. Defeating evil just like in the movies!

Her attention back to Ruby, she said to her, "If you like that little trick, you're going to love what other people can do here! They have such amazing powers! Flight, transformations, some can even walk through walls without needing portals! It's amazing!" Some of these, the people in her world already did, but that didn't rob it of its amazingness. Especially since most of these needed the magic of the Void to work where she came from, and that was nearly inexistent in this world.

To Arvin, she said, "Don't worry, you'll get used to this place real quickly! Everyone's so nice and welcoming and you get to see a lot of cool stuff!"

Hearing she wasn't a superhero the gears in Ruby's mind began to turn. "If you're not a superhero, Luna, then you're a Freelancer Bounty Hunter!! You answer to no one and are above the law!! You play by your own rules!! That's so cool!!" There was no filter for Ruby, if she thought something she'd simply blurt it out, unlike her brother who was far more better at thinking things through first.

Turning back to Lorencia Ruby's excitement continued. "Eleventh grade holy cow!! You probably know all the hidden passages and secret doors located all around the school!!" She also took in all the amazing powers the girl noted and her amazement could not cease to grow. "All these powers sound amazing you guys are all so cool!! All I can do is make a little light appear if I focus really hard, all of you are total professionals!! How do you even do awesome magic like that without a wand!? Or is the wand invisible? Or did I fail a perception check?"

She looks at the girls then grabs her brother by the shoulders, noticing how they're taking an interest in him she decides to help him out knowing how reserved he is. "My bro here can turn his wand into any weapon he wants and make shields and heal! It's crazy awesome!!"

Looking around at all three of them, the gears turned and another thought occurred to Ruby as she looked to Luna again. "Wait a second if you're a superhero of course you can't give away your secret identity! Luna you clever hero!"

Surprised by Ruby suddenly shaking him, Arvin said, "It's nothing really. I'm not even that good at it yet..." Arvin said uncomfortably. No matter what, he didn't like to talk to others, least of all about his powers.

After having listened to Luna speak, Arvin simply said, "You don't seem comfortable talking about your powers. If you don't like to, then don't. You're not obligated to."

What Arvin was really intrigued about was Luna being a bounty hunter. He'd never met one before. He always pictured them as mean and vicious, but upon meeting Luna, he knew that he had been mistaken. However, he remained cautious of everyone else. Who knows what kind of people lurk in this school?

Suddenly, a thought hit Arvin. "So are there any 'houses' in this school?"

Lorencia looked at Luna. A bounty hunter? That sounded exciting! Oh, all of the things she must have seen, all the things she might have done, beating up bad guys and blowing up their bases! If Lorencia could drag her cousin into that, she would have already gotten their costumes together! But alas, he would never agree to that, and she wouldn't want to go around on her own, not because it would be dangerous, but it would definitely be boring being by herself.

When Ruby turned back to her, she dragged her palm down her face. "Oh no! I completely forgot about that! I was so busy with everything else that I forgot to look for secret passageways!" There was distraught in her voice and she looked out the window to see the top of the school. Those towers looked like they hid something, and she wanted to see if there were any secrets hidden within.

"Professionals? Well, I'm not there yet! I'm still a novice at my magic. I'm still struggling with the more complex spells, and the lower concentration of magical energies here is making things difficult, BUT I WILL PUSH THROUGH!." she declared, nodding her head affirmatively.

Learning about Luna's power made Lorencia hug her out of the blue, exclaiming "A fellow realm master?!" Just as quickly though she was pulled off of the girl by the collar, gently, by a boy with short hair and glasses.

"Honestly, you can't go around hugging people randomly." His voice was calm, and his eyes didn't give off a particular sense of energy.

"Hey, Dev!" She looked at him, then towards the other three. "Guys, this is my cousin, Devias! Devias, this is Luna, Ruby and Arvin! Luna's not going to school, but Ruby and Arvin are! And they're new!"

Letting go of Lorencia, Devias nodded to the trio. "A pleasure to meet you three."

"And to answer your previous question," she turned to Arvin, "The school has dorms for everyone! Devias and I share one."

Ruby can't keep herself from turning to face Luna in awe. "You do it all for no money!? You save the world for free!? You're totally a freelance bounty hunter super hero!!" She hops over closer to the girl as she can't help but fangirl. "AND you have wings!? You're like an angel! A guardian angel! And a pocket space to store stuff with no limits and grab at will!? That's so amazingly awesome Luna!!"

Overhearing her brother Ruby spins around. "Oh yeah housing is important, I assume there's dorms here or something where we'll be staying!" She was lucky to have Arvin with her, while she lived in the moment he was always thinking longterm and planning for her. She made it clear to him she'd probably be lost if he wasn't around to keep her on track.

Putting a stop to her spinning in place by grabbing hold of her twin's shoulder she faces Lorencia, taking in all her new info. "Well you seem like a pro to me but if you say you're not I'm sure you'll PUSH THROUGH!! And no exploring secret passageways!? We should totally explore the school grounds when you have a chance!" Just the thought of exploring for secrets got Ruby pumped.

Just then she noticed the newcomer Devias, Lorencia's cousin. All this info Ruby was taking it in fairly well but knew in the back of her mind she was liable to forget it all or mix it up later on. Still she didn't bother fixating on this, instead extending her hand to the young man. "Hey there, Devias! Are you a master wizard just like your cousin!? You look like one! Your glasses are cool!" Again, Ruby possessed no filter for her thoughts.
