James was suprised to hear this. "What? We just met 5 minutes ago. I want to get to know you better." Silence filled the room for a few seconds, followed by a quiet "Sorry, I didn't mean to shout like that."

Allie blushed... She didn't know whether to be happy or mad... She wondered if James had a crush on her... "Um... James..." An embarassed looked crossed her face... "I have a boyfriend..."

"Ah, really?" James said, feeling a little sad and jealous. "What made you say that?" he asked suspiciously.

James suspects that Allie has figured out that he likes her a lot. He knew there are other girls in the world, but fears that he'll never get a girlfriend. "Of course we can." He said. "So, who's your boyfriend then?" he asked out of curiosity.

"Cool." James said, even though that wasn't true for him. He turned away from Allie and sat back down on the sofa. He forced himself not to cry so that Allie doesn't get mad or anything. He picked up a book laying about and started reading it.

"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy..."

Allie sat down next to James... "James, don't get upset... You'll get a girl mean't for you, not someone else. I wouldn't be right for you, but there's someone out there for you, someone who's right now wondering if there's anyone for her. You'll meet your princess, and then you'll be her prince." Allie said smiling... "Don't worry, there's someone for everyone." Allie smiled... "So what are we mopeing here for?"

James gave Allie a warm smile of thanks. He did not need to say anything more, for it was clear that it cheered him up a lot. "You're right. There will be someone else. I just thought... you know... that you were the one for me. Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm not very good with girls." He continued reading his book.
"... it began with a house."
