Valli went even more pink at the little laugh. It was bad enough he was younger, but why did people younger then him have to be so good with technology?!

"I... yes," Valli said quickly. Should he be making him sign an NDA? It was becoming increasingly obvious to him that he wouldn't be able to see what it was that was being done to his computer, but he saw precious little option. The entire situation was a complete disaster from the word go, and he was (not really, although Valli didn't know that) part of the staff, which meant he had already been vetted by the headmaster.

"I don't think the virus is anything special. I think it's just... something sent to a lot of people to take advantage of a loophole."

Idle chatter. Valli did a lot of idle chatter, and he wasn't sure how much it would comfort him. Really, the only thing that was going to comfort him was having his data back in his hands.

The virus wouldn't be hard for someone competent to clear, but Valli didn't know that. He only knew that he didn't have his data, and desperately wanted to.

"Ah... if you would like," Valli said rather non-commitally, his anxiety obvious. "I don't really mind either way, since it isn't me who has to do the work. Wouldn't it be distracting for you?"

It occurred to Valli (perhaps a bit too late) that the arms protruding from the man's back were likely technological in nature. They certainly looked it, and while Valli didn't recognize the man's species or know anything about it, it was enough to make him speculate, based on his comment about workign with technology for so long, that he might be from a species that knew all about technology.

Maybe he was in good hands.

"It's really just that," Valli said. He didn't have any hobbies, or things he did. It was work, work, or more work. "I try to focus on my work because there's so much need for mental health treatment on the island."

Probably to an unhealthy level, if it was being honest with himself, but he'd always had a hard time turning people down.
