Full Body Reference || Length Reference Vermis is a large, more terrifying version of the Bobbitt worm. They have a long tail with their main 'head' at the end and a human-like body that serves as a lure for them to hunt and their second 'head.' When they open their second mouth, the body seems to cave in on itself and split open. They are not as flamboyant at their ocean, real-world counterparts, instead of having the base tan coloration without any of the rainbow scales. They are covered in an intricate pattern of darker brown. While their body seems to be feminine leaning (breasts or something breast-like) they are actually intersex. Naturally, their chest is Barbie-dolled unless they use their doppelganger ability. On each of their heads is five antenna that serves to let them 'see' in vibrates. When they speak, Vermis speaks from behind their face. Their voice is muffled. |
Vermis is patient by nature as an ambush predator but they're also a glutton for all things knowledge making their need to hunt even more intensive as it's an adequate way of obtaining different methods for scholarly enlightenment.
While a lust demon in part, Vermis' sexual desire has mostly been replaced with a need to torture and kill, making these acts almost sexual in nature to them and furthering their instinct to destroy others. Most of this is covered up in a subtle mischievousness that, most of the time, is taken too far.
As they have grown older, they've learned to function mostly normal. At least normal enough not to be considered a danger on the island as it stands.
Vermis has resigned themselves to the idea that they must kill to survive. Their mentality is hardly human and so murder isn't something they consider terrible. They must eat the brains of the sapient and must kill their family to further their own short lifespan.Actives
Burrow: Vermis is able to dig underground through unconsolidated material such as mud, sand, gravel, and garbage with relative ease. Can remain buried for an unlimited time, considering they generally keep one of their "heads" free.
Doppleganger: Vermis can disguise themselves as any humanoid roughly their size. This disguise will appear very conniving and they're able to copy the voice of the person they disguise perfectly. Their worm-like tail will remain undisguised.Passives
Bobbitt Worm Physiology: Vermis is based on the Bobbitt worm. They are an ambush predator with sharp, garden sheer like teeth and the ability to attack with such swiftness and ferocity that she can split her prey in half.
They have two heads. Their main one is the end of their tail while the other is the entirety of her human body (which opens up to reveal terrifying teeth pointed inward).
Their antenna on either head can detect stimuli, which is how Vermis sees as otherwise, she's blind. Vermis has no bones or brain and thus is much more flexible than a human, able to pretzel themself with ease.
As a worm made for water, Vermis is most comfortable in the water and swims excellently. They can breathe underwater as well.
Vermis injects a toxin into people with the bristles on the side of their body. This toxin can paralyze the average human for thirty seconds. This effect doesn't stack.
Demon Physiology: Vermis' Demon half falls more toward gluttony, though they do have a lust for power and knowledge. Vermis always wants more than she can handle and is constantly looking for ways to get more.
They bleed a demonic ichor. A black tar-like substance that seems to stick to the mouth and makes them taste (a smell) terrible to those who might want to consume them.
Divide: If cut in half, Vermis is divided into two clones so long as each clone is 5 feet in length. After an hour, the smaller clone dies while the largest one remains.
Instinctual Knowledge: Vermis knows the fundamentals of young human 8 to 14 years of age (basic math, speech, writing, science, etc) as well as knowledge of English, Latin, Demonic, and ASL. Instinctual knowledge also allows them to automatically know the abilities of their mother Nasci and their siblings. Even if they never met, they would automatically “know” what their other siblings are and what their siblings are capable of.
Memory Feaster: Vermis acquires the memories and knowledge of those whose brains they consume. While they don't get the skills of people they eat, Vermis does have an innate understanding of whatever skills the person who they ate had mastered. They learn these skills twice as fast.
They must consume brains of the sapient to live healthily. When eating animal brains they get the above, minus any bonuses to skills, but their hunger is not sated.
Regeneration: Heals relatively fast compared to humans (can heal major gashes in a matter of hours) and can regenerate missing limbs or regrow out their body. To regrow their length, Vermis must gorge themselves and go into a week-long hibernation underground.Weaknesses
Cold: Vermis' body does not regulate the cold well. They require a source of heat to keep their body temperature regulated. As such, Vermis doesn't handle even breezy days well and winter is a death sentence without a direct source of warmth.
Fire: Vermis is extremely terrified of fire. They burn like paper and thus fire is lethal to them to the point that they would likely chew themselves in half in an attempt to stay alive when burning.
Holiness: Vermis cannot step on holy land, nor can they be in the presence of any Christian-based holy items. Holy water burns them like acid and they cannot eat the brains of ordained holy men or women such as priests or nuns without dying.
Limited Lifespan: Vermis' lifespan was only a year to start. They ate some of their beginning siblings to boost their lifespan to seven years. They age mentally at a rapid rate as their physical being is already grown as far as they can. They will likely be adult-aligned five months from their birth.
In their stages of old age, Vermis will not appear old in the body (as they don't truly have a human body) instead, they will slowly break apart and whither away until they are nothing but black ichor.
When it comes to extending their lifespan, they can potentially hunt down any of their surviving siblings and absorbs their life essence upon killing them. Upon killing a sibling, their remaining lifespan is added upon the one who killed (example, if sibling A kills sibling B, sibling A’s lifespan will just to 10 – 40 years instead of 5 – 20 years).
If they were to absorb the essence of Nasci they steal their mother's immortality. The mother-slayer must then be careful or their remaining siblings may hunt them and kill them to steal their newly acquired immortality for themselves.○ They were raised at the orphanage for a few days as their body rapidly advanced to a toddlers mentality and then that of a young child's. At this point, they had been separated from their siblings and sent to the school.
