"So... this you house huh?" remarked Aedes, unimpressed as she lays her eyes on the moonlit homestead. Still, it was a step up from Endrit's place so why was she complaining. "So this is where I will living then? I will have my own room right?"

Aedes then stands up on her toes, trying to peek just around the house as she then adds.

"And why do you live out here in the boonies? I think I can sees the farms from here. I mean... I guess there is a bit of rustic charm out here but... it all feels so... isolated out here. Oh hells please tell me I get service here!"

Aedes then quickly pulls out her phone, looking slightly panicked but then relieved to see that she does indeed have signal here.

"Phew... well at least it isn't completely in the middle of nowhere."

Vincent wasn't exactly surprised at Aedes' reaction to her new home when she realized that she was out a ways from town. His house was fairly large with an actual yard, and a large tree growing in the back yard. It had a quaint feel to it for sure. But reasonable modern touches. The house was modified so that a vampire could move comfortably during daylight hours. He was about to ask if it wasn't to her liking, but it would probably grow on her.

"The clean air may do you some good. But we do get a clear strong signal out here. Considering my work, it's a necessity. You're not that far from the city, we're right on the edge actually."

He smiled faintly and continued.

"Your room is the bedroom to your left after you go upstairs. Hopefully it will be adequate for you. My room is down at the end of the hallway. Try not to touch the things in my lab, which is located in the basement," he gestured to a door not to far from where they stood.

"Also the tree in the back is a heart apple tree. You're welcome to them, and um mind my bees, I cultivate honey from them..." it was an awkward explanation of the house. Probably better if he showed rather than told. But he also figured she could find her way around on her own.

Aedes nods as as Vincent told them about the house and where exactly their bedroom was located. Hopefully it will be bigger than her old room. The lab sounded like something she wanted to check out if only because Vincent told her not to touch the things in there. She planned to at least touch something if only for shits and giggles. Aedes could have cared less for the apple tree in the back until told it was infested with bees.

"Uhhh... BEES?!" blurted out Aedes with mild horror. Aedes hated bees as they reminded her of her super annoying sister Regina. There was always bad blood between them and she didn't the queen bee's servants spaying on her in the backyard!

"Can't you just get rid of them? I'm super allergic to bees!" requested Aedes as they lie about their non-existent bee allergy "I mean... why are you even gathering honey from bees anyway if you are a vampire? Don't you drink blood and not regurgitated bee vomit?"

"A vampire, allergic to bees. That's an interesting and new discovery. I'll have to note that one down," he sounded like he believed her, but he wasn't quite buying it. His sarcasm may or may not have even occurred to Aedes. He just smiled, it did seem like a strange hobby for a vampire to take up. He gestured for her to follow her into the kitchen. He went to the fruit basket, and produced an anatomically correct heart shaped fruit.

"This is a heart apple, my tree out back is a heart apple tree. This fruit is something that even vampires that can only subsist off of blood can enjoy. Bees that pollinate blossoms from these trees produce honey with the same effects. Haven't you ever just wanted to enjoy food the way other beings on the island enjoy food?" he offered the fruit to the skeptical teen. "I insist you try it."

Aedes looked at the fruit with suspicion. They grasped firmly onto the heart shaped fruit, giving it a through inspection as they rotate it in her hand. She gives Vincent one last leery-eyed look before finally taking a bite of the apple. As her teeth sink into the flesh of the fruit and its sweet juices wet her tongue, Aedes's eye light up with delectable surprise. Ever had she tasted anything like this without feeling the urge to regurgitate it back up.

"Oh this is... not bad." coolly remarked Aedes as she goes for another bite, then nods with apparent approval "Are all apples suppose to taste like this? And uhh... anything else aside from apples and honey?"

Vincent nodded, "Of course, I could bake you a pie for one. The honey can be used as an additive to make things like tea and coffee accessible to our kind. And of course it can be used in pastries. I'm sure you'll find yourself enjoying that as well. Just remember, it's not a complete replacement for blood. I have plenty of it stored up though. You'll be wanting for nothing, living here..."

"There are two things I'd like to address while it's on my mind," he took a seat at the table and produced a small box. "That is a sunlight charm. Consider it a welcome gift. It doesn't totally eradicate discomfort from the sun, but it will dampen its effects significantly. Be sure to keep it on your person, and don't lose it."

"The second is a bit more serious. I've been made aware of your condition..." it was at this point that he gestured for her to take a seat across from him.

Aedes was a little excited to learn of the opportunity. While it wouldn't be a replacement for a good blood meal, she could at least now enjoy foods that was normally inaccessible to her due to her restrictive diet. Still, she only showed the faintest sliver of smile on her face, trying to hide her eagerness in some vain attempt to appear cool or something.

"Want of nothing, well you are treating me much better than that other guy." remarked Aedes in a dismissive tone as they refer to their former guardian.

They then take the sunlight charm and inspects it. Judged satisfactory, Aedes puts the charm on and goes to inspect herself on her phone's camera. The charm was in clear view though Aedes was amusingly invisible to the camera aside from their clothing.

When Vincent makes mention of her condition, Aedes takes sudden interest in her guardian. She puts her phone way and goes to take a seat. Once in a comfortable position, she face him with crossed arms.

"Yeah so... and you want to talk about it I assume?" inquired Aedes, wary but curious as to what he has to say.

"Well, it seems like he didn't do much in the way of curbing your... less than pleasant behavior. You have done some bad things. Certainly not the worst things I've heard of, but not the best either. You've probably heard this before, but I think you're better, so be better. You're not a bad person at your core," he said, using that to slide into heart of the issue.

"You are dying," it wasn't the best opener, but it would certainly get her attention. "I am not particularly keen on young people dying untimely deaths. And any child under my care is going to live a happy and healthy life. Or unlife, since we're vampires. I'd like to see about doing something about that. I have theories, but I need to get a better understanding from you as well."

He looked around then got up, setting down a plate of pastries on the table. Then he began to prepare some tea to go with it.

"Not the worst huh? So your suggesting that I become better bad person then?" snarked Aedes. Of course she knew that wasn't what Vincent meant but she thought it hilarious to just say anyway. Still there was no making light of the even bigger issue at hand: that she was dying.

Those words sent an unpleasant chill up Aedes' spine as it was not something that likes being reminded of. She was half vampire and half demon yet very much mortal. More mortal in fact than most mortals in fact. While saving dying children was a noble goal, Aedes can't imagine what reasons he might have in trying to prevent her untimely demise in a few years time. But whatever his ulterior motive ultimately is, Aedes had few other options to turn to her her unique predicament.

"Well I am not keen on myself kicking the bucket either. But unless you are willing to help me kill my bitch of a mother, I doubt there is much you can do to save me." spoke Aedes with uneasy seriousness.

She had a rather narrow way of looking at things it seemed. But Aedes also seemed receptive to new ideas too. The honey was proof enough of that. Vincent was no murderer, or at least not anymore since the island gave him no reason to need to hunt or kill. He simply shook his head, he had no plans on killing her mother.

"No. I have no intentions of killing your mother," his answer was certain. He was taking that completely off the table. "You are living on an island where there is a plethora of possibilities and new discoveries just waiting to be unearthed. I believe that there is more than one way to extend your lifespan to its proper boundaries. I'd like a blood sample from you. Not right now though, maybe tomorrow."
