One of Starlight Academy's large event rooms had been turned into a makeshift flower workshop thanks to the members of the Gardening club as well as a few local flower shops.

The classroom was filled with basket upon basket of freshly cut red, white, orange, pink, yellow and purple lavender roses. There were also huge vase-like containers filled with Baby's Breathe, Myrtle and fern cuttings as well as large boxes full of colorful ribbons, pink and red hearts, stickers, and large rolls and sheets spring-themed paper. And at the center of everything, and helping direct the event, was the school's Home Economics teacher, Ms. Celeste Forestier.

All attendees to Starlight's Valentine's flower arrangement workshop will not only learn about the significance behind the number of roses in a bouquet and their colors, but they will be able to make a bouquet of their own for that special someone as well.

Jae loved flowers. Whoever thought flowers as "unmanly" or flower arranging as a "female thing" were very, very narrow minded. Shame on them. The teen arrived at the workshop just as it opened, and found a seat close to the center where he could hear the teacher best. Jae was excited, even if he wasn't the most thrilled with the romance theme. The teen did not have a special someone at the moment, only crushes and and infatuations he's yet to act upon. If he ever will.

Still, he could make a nice platonic arrangement for his aunt. He wanted to have a good relationship with her, and perhaps a gift could help things along. She liked blue flowers, he knew, and grew several in the garden at home. Jae played with the basket of flowers on his table, gently stroking the petals and admiring the many colors and shapes on display. What could he say? He was weak to flowers.

As Celeste Forestier set about making doubly sure that everything was ready and nothing was missing from her list of flower arrangements items, students and islanders alike started to slowly file in and take their seats.

"Welcome everyone! So nice to see you, please make yourselves comfortable," she smiled, greeting today's participants as they entered the large, fragrant and flower-filled classroom.

Typically Selkiris wouldn’t go to these types of events, preferring to stay home and either read or continue writing in his tome. The event this was for, however, changed a lot. The bundling of these bouquets was for Valentine’s Day, the day for all couples. Because it was going to be Valentines Day Selkiris felt obliged to go and make a bouquet that he could place on Morgan’s grave.

Selkiris slipped into the room quietly, sitting himself down next to one of the nearby tables, his attention mostly on the basket of flowers before him. It was certainly colorful, as it should be for the day of couples, the colors made Selkiris almost grin with how happy they were.

Very curious, Azlin peaked in the classroom and looked around the classroom rather nervously as she pulled her robe closer around her body. She had been hearing a lot lately about the strange Earth holiday called Valentines, and decided that maybe she would check out the workshop.

Slipping into the room quietly, and hopefully unnoticed too, Azlin sat down at one of the empty stations and marveled at all the flowers in the room. She had never seen plants as bright or as fragrant as the ones dotted around the room since anything that grew on Thirteen was spindly, anemic-looking or downright poisonous.

"Good afternoon everyone, and thank you for coming to today's flower arrangement workshop," Celeste said as she glanced around the room at the attendees, realising then and with satisfaction, that there seemed to be a few new faces in the crowd.

"This afternoon we will be taking a look at the meaning behind a flower's colour and the significance of the number of red roses given to the one you love," she stated, putting heavy emphasis on the fact that the number and its significance would just be for red roses.

"To start, we have six types of roses ... red, white, orange or peach, pink, yellow and purple or lavender colored roses," she began as she wandered over to a stack of thin booklets and began handing them out as she talked.

The event's speak started her presentation, and Jae listened with rapt attention. He knew that the color of the rose held different meanings, but never that number meant certain things. It was a surprising fact-let that he'll have to take care to remember. He studied the booklet, skimming over the romantic and passion colors. For a family member the pink, yellow, peach and white colors seemed best.

Of those. . . pale pink and white would look very nice with blue flowers. The teacher said number meanings apply only to red roses, so no worries there. Pale pink to express his admiration, and white the purity of his feelings? Two pink roses to put the emphasis on the qualities of pink, then. Jae pulled the three roses, then examined the selection of blue flowers.
