Tesa was loving this island, there were so many different people and many different races from other dimensions. All of them were beautiful to Tesa, though that was partially due to her being the daughter of a goddess of sex and fertility. But she pushed those thoughts aside as she enjoyed her light meal in the sun. Tesa had been out shopping for some supplies so she could properly live and not feel like she was just travelling for an extended period of time. No, she was here to stay. At least until she got out of College, once that was done she could figure out what she was going to do with herself.

At the moment she was in an out door cafe sipping some wonderful tea and eating a small ham sandwich. It was early in the afternoon and she hadn't quite decided what she was going to do for Lunch yet. That was when she felt something, not the usual staring gapes of men (and some women) at her. She was wearing a nice light yellow sundress and hat, stuff she had from before coming to the island, and people were staring at her like she was a goddess...well she was, well mostly one. But that wasn't the feeling she was getting, she had learned to ignore those stares and that of the envious women (and some men).

No this one was strange, new and different. It sent a chill down her spine which made her sit up straight and look around trying to identify who was looking at her.

Something felt..weird. Too familiar to be ignored.

Mia had stopped dead in her tracks along the busy sidewalk. She had been on her way home from a beach photoshoot, ready to shower the last of the sand that still clung to her. She wore tiny denim shorts and a thin white shirt that did very little to cover the plaid bikini top she wore underneath. But now she felt...stuck. There was something here that she needed to address, but what was it?

Her attention fell on the little outdoor cafe nearby, then to the girl in the yellow sundress. She was beautiful, but that was not necessarily why Mia was staring. She saw the way others looked at Tesa. Those familiar looks that Mia also got all the time. She needed to talk to her. They were...connected, somehow.

"Hey babe, excuse me," Mia said as she approached the table. Tesa had stood up and was gazing around right before Mia approached. She had to be feeling it too, right?

"You're...sensing this too, right?" Mia asked, then realized she couldn't quite find the words to explain what they were sensing.

"We're, like...connected somehow, aren't we?" Then Mia paused, groaned and rolled her eyes. "Ugh, that sounds like a lame pickup line. That is not what I was going for at all."

For a little bit, Tesa couldn't find whoever it was that was looking for her and she almost sat back down but she turned around once more before hearing someone talk to her. Turning around she found a...woman? there who began to say something. But Tesa was a little distracted at the time as her mind began to work. This woman had a lot of defining features in her form. Specifically on her face.

This woman though still beautiful but having been around him for quite some time she could see the stronger lines of Hephaestus in the girl. Not knowing what to say she just realized that the woman had been talking to her. she was still processing the fact that she had a...step sister?...or at least a Half Step sister. The stunned look on her face probably wasn't making the situation any better.

trying to speak she put her hand flat on her chest as she continued to fail to speak. She wanted to cry thinking that she had a sister and no one had told her. Or the fact that she could see her mother not accepting her. Aphrodite had a strict definition of beauty and that was called Herself most of the time.

"I...I...think we might...be sisters...." She had said it...it felt right. "Please have a seat!" She was eager to hear who this woman was, in sort of an unconcious action she reached down into her hand bag, that was terribly small by most standards and she pulled out a somewhat large bottle of Olympia 250BC wine, it was Tesa's favorite of Dionysus's stock. "Where have you been!"

"Sisters...?"

Mia wasn't exactly as excited as Tesa was at this realization. More apprehensive and confused than anything else that she might have a...half sister? She sensed nothing of Hephaestus in the other girl, but Aphrodite was absolutely a part of her. That they were half sisters she did believe, but...

"O-okay, wait, let's slow down a minute..." Mia said as she sat down. Suddenly the other girl was pulling out a bottle of wine, and Mia couldn't help but laugh despite herself.

"Giiiirl, are we even allowed to have that here at the cafe?" she grinned. Kind of easy to guess who her father was, based on that. And as much as she loved alcohol, she had to figure out a few things about this...new half sister first. Though she had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach that she might be needing that alcohol and a whole lot more later...

"Right, so...I'm Mia," she started, realizing they hadn't even introduced themselves yet. "And...we've obviously got the same mom."

Mia paused and swallowed. "...How old are you? When was the last time you saw Aphrodite?"

"Let's just say I find times at which I can pull out my favorite drink. Finding out I have a sister no one ever told me about, well I find that an excellent time to drink." Though she was putting on an excited face she was also chaffing a bit as Mia, that's was her name apparently began to ask her some questions. And explaining she shared her, terrible, horrible, self centered bitch of a mother with this poor girl. It also explained a little bit more why Tesa was never told of her Half sibling.

Tesa popped off the cork of the bottle and took a swig of the glorious fluid before finding her voice again. "I'm Tesa...I'm currently 42 years old. As for...our mother..." Tesa's smile turned into a grimace as she looked into the distance as if looking for the gaze of her terrible parent figure. "I haven't seen her in ten years when I left Olympus for my father's home in Greece."

Taking another swig of wine she stared down at it, her fingers paling as she gripped the glass hard. "I'm sorry that she is your mother too..." Now that it was brought up Tesa could see the hints and curves of Aphrodite in Mia as well. But if Aphrodite was next to Tesa there would be no doubt that Tesa was the daughter of the goddess, in any comparison though Tesa was the light of the moon, while Aphrodite was the blazing ball of fire that was the sun. "But, if I might say so myself. Hephaestus is a very kind man, and if i was of his blood, I would be proud to call him father." Tesa was still looking away from Mia. Her gaze still trying to burn a hole in the cloud layer hoping that it might pierce the veil between the world of gods and men and kill her mother.

"But that is neither here nor now. Where have you been! I thought I might be the only one here on the planet!" Tesa was trying to change the topic away from their parentage. She was genuinely curious where her half sister had been for so long that Tesa never heard of her.

Mia sat back in her chair, staring at Tesa with wide eyes as she spoke. Tesa was only 42 years old. She hadn't seen Aphrodite in only 10 years.

Tesa had more to say, but Mia was struggling to even process anything else. There was a terrible, dawning realization in Mia. Something that, perhaps deep down, she knew was a possibility...but now it was staring her right in the face. Tesa's existence was proof.

"...They abandoned me..." Mia said under her breath as she leaned forward, resting her elbows against the table as her fingers dug into her hair.

"They left me in Mt. Vesuvius thousands of years ago..." Mia squeezed her eyes shut, her nails digging into her scalp. "I thought they never came back for me because they were gone...but no. They just left me there and kept fucking around."

Her voice cracked, and there were tears in her eyes. She had been trying to hold it in, but it couldn't be helped. Abandoned...All those years she spent waiting to be taken from Mt Vesuvius by the hands of her parents, only now to realize it was never going to happen. She was unwanted. Unloved.

Tesa was feeling terrible for Mia as she watched the whole girls world seem to shatter around her, "Mia...I'm sorry. Aphrodite...our mother...is nothing but a sick bitch in heat." She needed to have the girl understand this, rip it off like a bandaid. No matter how much it hurt both of them right now it was better to be bluntly honest right now then trying to nit pick anything that might have been good about their collective mother.

"Aphrodite...well I know deep down she's my mom and there is nothing I can change about that. But what I do know, is that if you had been kept on Olympus your father would have loved you. Hyphestus has a big heart and it was probably our mothers fault that you were forgotten. She know how to manipulate the gods, maybe one day we can find your father and he can know your still alive." Tesa wanted to move closer to this girl...her sister, that fact was still trying to sink in at the moment.

"Mia...I'm sorry...I really am, but I'd love to get to know you. If you're willing to..." She wanted to at least say that, if anything she hoped that one phrase would get through her sister's sorrow. Tesa was here for her, though Tesa didn't have the same childhood as her she wanted to have a sister and let her know that not all of Olympus was like their mother.

Mia lifted her head--her eye makeup was starting to smear and run down her cheeks.

"So you think Aphrodite would be strictly to blame, then..." she asked through sniffs, and even before she got an answer she suddenly slammed a fist down on the table.

"I got a fucking tattoo for her! I thought...! I thought...I thought someday I would find out what happened, and it wouldn't be...this..."

Mia rubbed at her eyes, struggling to even articulate herself at this point. She suddenly rose from her chair and started some frantic pacing. Now people in the cafe were starting to notice her...she started to feel those eyes on her and shuddered. It wasn't helping.

Then Tesa said she wanted to get to know her. Mia stared back at her with wide eyes. This girl was...she wasn't Aphrodite. She could not blame this girl for what had happened to her, but...Mia was struggling to separate the two at that particular moment.

"I...I don't know..." Mia said, clutching the back of the chair she was previously seated in until her knuckles went white. Then she suddenly remembered the bottle of wine Tesa had pulled out earlier. She grabbed it and took a long, hard gulp of it. She needed alcohol. She needed more...

Realizing she was coming dangerously close to breaking the bottle in her fist, she quickly put it down.

"I...need time," Mia finally said. It was all she could think to say. Maybe she didn't want this girl, this...half-sister out of her life right away, but...she was also not coping well with what she had learned from her.

Only being able to sit there as her sister began to break down Tesa tried to think of what she could do. Not being able to think of anything but wanting to get up and hold her sister and tell her there were other gods who were better then their mother. But knowing that would probably only exasperate the problem. "I understand Mia. Take your time..." Tesa pulled over a napkin and with a pen from her purse she wrote where she was living and her phone number.

With that all written down on the napkin she slid it closer to her sister. "Please, I want to make up for our terrible mother...Please, when you're ready. Contact me, then we talk if you wish." She tried to give her sister a warm smile, and then pulled another bottle of the same wine out and also slid that over to her sister as well. "I hope we can get along together when your ready Mia."

Mia stared blankly at the napkin with Tesa's phone number as it was handed to her. She dropped it into her purse, and then grabbed for the wine bottle which also ended up at least partially into her purse.

"Y-yeah. I'll...try..." was all Mia managed to mutter out before she turned to get out of that cafe and away from her...new half-sister. Mia didn't want to 'shoot the messenger' as it were, but if she stayed than she might have done exactly that. Why was Tesa kept but not her? It was hard to get away from that, even if Mia knew that it wasn't Tesa's fault that Aphrodite chose one over the other.

Still, she wanted to scream, and cry, and light things on fire. Or get wasted until she couldn't think straight. That was Mia's preferred and go-to option for all things, after all.

And it was what she intended to do for the next couple of days straight.
