Up in a tree.

Alex sighed heavily as she sat there on that low branch of the tree. Her legs dangling down bellow her she leaned her right side against the main trunk of the tree. Yeah she wasn't a fan of heights and looking down made her a little dizzy but that's why she had her hands so tightly clenched on the branch, just in case.

If Alex had wondered how much her life could get worse, well she found out. Currently she was stuck not only as a girl but as one with some cat like features for the rest of the summer probably. How was she going to explain this to people? Either way she was going to worry about that later, right now she was going to do her best to hide it. It's been successful so far going on the better part of two days, but it was getting pretty uncomfortable.

He ears twitched being contained under the baseball cap she was now wearing to hide them, and she had her hair pulled back pig tails to hide the fact her ears were not where they should be. Her claws, she discovered, retracted into her hands and feet quite nicely she could keep them hidden easy. Her tail and sharp fang like canines that she was finding difficult to hide. Her tail, she had taken to stuffing into over baggy pants, it was extremely uncomfortable to sit down like that but so far no one had noticed. Her teeth she just didn't' smile or let people get close enough to her while talking for them to notice. Talking was becoming another problem it seemed it seemed it was becoming harder and harder for her to someone without making stupid cat noises or rolling every other r sound. Her's was a charmed life.

That was why she was up here in the tree, she was avoiding her new roommate, who was the source of her feline torment, and everyone else. She took off her hat, letting her ears spring out finally free and wiped some sweat from her brow, her tail twitched in her pants leg but Alex decided not to let it hang out, her ears she could quickly hide if someone walked by, the tail, not so much.

Gallent hadn't been long at the school. He was still realing in all of the new sights and sounds of this haven. People were everywhere with all kinds of powers! Everywhere he looked there was some kind of new power for him to see! It was very exciting! However he had to write this down somewhere. His guild on World of Warcraft would never believe him but still this was absolutely amazing. He saw a tree that seemed like no one was around and begin writing in a notebook he had with him.

He had just written his name on the page when he noticed something shifting in the branches above him. Normally he would have ignored rustleing branches but with this place it was hard to tell what could be in the trees. He looked above him and his mouth opened wide in shock. Above him was a girl with cat ears! Now he probably should have expected this but it competely blew his mind. He thought that Nekos were fantasy creatures seen only in Comics, Anime, and Video Games he never would have believed they really existed!

Jumping up to his feet. He turned to the tree and took a long deep bow still looking up with his eyes towards the Cat-girl. "Konichiwa, Neko-sama." he said in an excited tone to the girl in the tree. Wow this place was so cool!

Alex shifted a little bit in the tree as she saw someone down on the ground below her. Dammit she thought, how did he sneak up on her, she wondered as she reached for her hat and accidentally dropped it on the ground instead. Crap! She cursed herself as she figured out how she would hide. But it was too late she saw him down there staring up at her, his eyes full of wonder. She smiled nervously at him, showing him her sharpened canines and coming off a bit more intimidating than she had originality wanted to. Well that cats out of bag with this boy at least, she realized as she felt her ears twitch atop her head.

She cringed as he called her neko-sama, she learned real quick what that meant recently. Akemi explained to her that neko meant cat. And why was everyone insisting on using Japanese with her all of a sudden?

“Hehe,” Alex said giving him a nervous wave. “Hello.”

Ohmagawdthisissocool. Gallent thought to himself. Actual contact with a real live Cat-girl. Too bad he left his camera at home this would have been a great photo op. Shakeing the excitement from his head Gallent looked down and saw that the girl had dropped her hat. "Oh," he stated. "I'm guessing this is yours." He picked up the hat with his left hand. "Don't worry I'll bring it to you." he told the girl. Jumping he grabbed hold of the tree and began trying to hoist himself up.

It took a few tries but he eventually made it up to the branch she was sitting on with just a few scrapes and bumps from falling. "Hehe. Apparently I'm not as good at climbing trees as I thought." he said with a goofy smile across his dirty and brused face. "Here is your hat." He said giving the girl her hat. "Personally I don't see why you would need to hide yourself here. I mean just look at some of the other students." he said looking out over the courtyard. "My name is Gallent by the way. And yours?"

Alex sighed a she watched the boy climb the tree. Why was he doing that? She didn't want him up here, that was the point of being up here. No one else would come up here or would have any reason. Yet this boy was so damn enthralled with her that he had to try and climb up the tree despite repeated falling out of the tree and on his ass. Fanboys, Alex thought as she let out a moan of despair, that's what this boy was. My god, Alex realized, I have fanboys. She just looked down and shook her head as he finally made it to the tree branch she was on out of sheer thanks.

Snatching the hat from the boy's hand she grumble a a begrudged thanks and placed it back on her head. She really didn't need him to bring it up she could have gotten it with her TK but she guessed it's the thought that count. That's when an idea danced through her head that made her smile a wicked grin on the inside. So many people had been screwing her over and messing with her lately, she was going to return the favor on this boy, and maybe scare him out of his infatuation in the process.

“My reasons for hiding it is my own! Nyah!” Alex said as she shot him a sideways glance. “MY people don't think it's decent to show those things to outsiderrrs.” Alex said trying to infuse her words with a mixture of her mothers Spanish accent and all these stupid purrs and weird cat sounds she makes as foreign as possible.

Gallent felt the girl snatch the cap from his hand and put it on hiding he cat ears. She then spoke to him in a very exotic accent. She said the words "her people" but this seemed highly unlikely to Gallent seeing as he haden't heard of any people on the island so far that had people exactly like them where they lived. He went through his mind gathering all the way out there bits of info on Neko's and girls hiding from peers in general from his online comics section of his brain and cam up with a long winded speach he knew could never ever be true just to joke around.

"Yeah right. You probably weren't even like this when you were born. I bet that up until a few months ago you weren't a neko. In fact I bet you were some regular ol' kid maybe even a boy who discovered they had powers. Then some crazy doctor guy found out you would have stronger powers if you were a girl. While still dealing with the fact you would never be the same you were shipped off to here. Then you recieved your dorm and wound up with a psychotic roomate with a pet obsession who turned you into a neko. Thus not only adding an additional traumatic experience to your life but also meking you wish to hide yourself away in fear of others..." he said in one of the most serious of tones before looking right at her dead on with a dead-serious face. He stayed like that for a moment looking directly at her for a reaction before his face cracked and he burst into laughter. "Hehahaha. Yeah right, I'm just messing around! What is your past like? I'd love to hear about it. hehe."

“Oh?” Alex said as she stared at the boy with a puzzled look on her face. How did he guess that so acuratly? Did he know Akemi? Had Akemi been blabbing her secrets to everyone else. No she could tell form the boys mind he didn't recognize her he was completely making that up as he went along. It was a guess, a stunningly accurate one but a guess none the less. “Hehehe,” Alex chortled playing off the boys prediction. “Don't be silly. Heow is that even possible.” Alex said with all the well placed awkward pauses and stammers in place to help imply that English is not her first language and she is unfamiliar with speaking it.

“I've all ways beenya like this.” She explained. “Borrrn on a far away island with otherrs like me.” She said looking at him with a rather cat like grin, wondering if he was buying any of this. “Mya roommate is crazy though.” Alex admitted slumping her shoulders and frowning. “I am not used to how you humans act. She is always wanting to... uhhh whats the word? Pet meeow?” Alex was wondering if she was playing the accent up too much? Either way he would either believe it or she could pass it off as a joke to the over the topness of it all.

Realizing she hadn't introduced her self she turned to him and said, “My name is Ale-” She paused realizing it would be awefuly weird for someone foreign to have such a common name. “Aleksa- Zandrrra, but everyone here just calls me Alex so you cyann too.”

Gallent couldn't believe what he was hearing. Not only was there a real live Neko right infront of him but a whole island of them somewhere out there in the ocean. Then again he had never expected an island of super people out in the pacific ocean but here he was talking to a neko in a tree. He had little choice but to believe what she was saying seeing as he knew absolutely nothing about her and she seemed honest enough.

"Well then Alex how did you wind up here on this island with your crazy roomate? If you were born in such a secluded place why didn't you stay there with your friends and family. I'm sure nothing you could have done would have been wierd to them unless they are some kind of eletist race of self centered crazys." he said. "and what is the culture like over there anyways? Highly advanced or primitave or does it seem rather to pace with humans?" he would have alot more questions for her like what are the animals like there? are there other types of animal-human? and why the humans don't know about such a place?

“Well,” Alex said trying to think as fast on her feet as possible. “Myah motherrr is um... how you say? The boss? The leaderrr? And she wanted to send me, her first daughterrr out to learn about you people.” Alex said gesturing at Gallent, implying she meant humans. She was starting to feal silly with such a blatant lie but was surprised that this kid was buying it form her. How long would she be able to keep it up? She wondered.

“But I would like it betterrr at home nyow instead of herrre.” Alex said slumping her shoulders again and looking down at her feet and the ground, getting a little dizzy she clenched tighter to the tree branch burying her claws in it. “Weeee uhhh don't have this sort of things you humans have, like those metal boxes on wheels? What you call carrrs? No? But wee have electricity and rrradio and have contact with some humans. But my motherrr wants us to have more contact, and modernize ourrr people. So she sent meow herre.”

Wait wait wait wait, did Gallent just hear Alex right? Her mother was the LEADER! So that would make Alex a... just then Gallent lost his balance and wobbled a bit before regaining it. He couldn't believe what his ears were telling him. Apparently if he had heard her correctly Alex was a neko princess sent to be an ambasidor to the human race!

"So, wait a minute here you are a neko, princess, ambasidor sent on a mission to gain both the hospitality and technology of the humans!" he said slightly slack jawed. It was times like this he would be kicking himself for for forgetting his tech at home. They do say a picture is worth a thousand words but this is rediculous! He was just about to ask if she needed anything right before having a wierd realization. "But wait if you are so high class for your people why are you hiding up in a tree, completely hidden from everyone? Shouldn't you be out gaining the intell that you were sent for?" he asked suspiciously. Something didn't feel right here and he wanted to find out.
