Hello! I'd feel bad about registering an account and then abruptly leaving if I decided I didn't want to join this site after all, so I wanted to communicate as a guest for now. I hope this is the appropriate place to ask these questions. If not, just let me know and I'll act accordingly. :)
Having powers is evidently a feature part of the site, but there aren't many guidelines about it. The most I've found is that the limit is one stronger power and one weaker power. I've looked at a bunch of approved characters but I couldn't get a good idea of the zeitgeist of what's acceptable or not. So... I'm here to bother you about it!
I'm sorry if I come off as nitpicky or pedantic. Actually I almost certainly do, so I apologize in advance. I come from writing on a site where powers were treated with the dryness and exactness of a calculus textbook, so a lot of this is a force of habit.
1) I'm not sure what constitutes as a strong or weak power. For example, I imagine you don't want kids with super strength lifting up whole planets, but is strong super strength something like lifting up a car? A bus? A skyscraper? Does it strongly depend on the weaknesses as well?
2) How many different facets can a single power have? What I mean is, I see you can make a vampire but then they get all the standard vampire stuff (super strength, super speed, super good-looking). Each might otherwise be a single power to someone else. May powers be classified more like 'schools' of power, and I may list out a number of singular facets?
For example, D&D has schools of magic such as 'evocation'. Could I give a character 'evocation' magic and then list them having access to, say, 'magic missile', 'fireball,' etc.?
3) Over time, do I have the freedom to improve my character's powers? Give them more powers? I know I saw a few characters who seemed to earn new stages or aspects added to their powers, so I figure this is true. But I'm also curious as to the honour system behind it. What would and would not be acceptable for slowly improving my character's powers?
Again, I'm sorry this turned out to be four hundred words long. It wasn't in my head. Thanks, however!
