It would be selfish of Ryuk to say he enjoyed this moment, just a little, but, well.. he did. It was nice simply having someone there, especially to give hugs to- sometimes it got lonely in his dorm, was all- but he did wish it were under happier circumstances. Regardless, it seemed the jellyfish person had calmed slightly, much to his relief. He offered him a tiny smile as he looked up at him from the floor, as the boy pieced things together.

He couldn't help a tiny giggle as his new, blue friend continued, reaching to touch his fingers so he could think to him. "Yes, you're on Manta Carlos, an island for the supernatural! I'm new, though.. someone who's been here longer could explain it to you better." Unfortunately, this lighthearted tone didn't last long, the more he listened. His brow furrowed as concern became prominent in his features.

He.. couldn't remember anything, regarding how he became like this? Not a single thing? What would cause this? How could he have changed into something he was unfamiliar with, and also not remember..? Despite Ryuk's overall faith in the world, something about this didn't sit well with him. It made him feel sick, and truly scared for what had happened to cause this to occur.

Seeing the boy yank at his tentacles again snapped him out of such negative thinking, though. He couldn't let himself be weak, not right now. He needed to stay strong for his friend. He took a moment, but was soon offering a kind smile as he stood up, gently patting the bell again. "It might just be stress related.. you have had a really long day. For now, rest, we'll figure this out- staff on the island might have an idea, too..." He then offered a cheerful squeak, "We can even explore the island together later, if you want- and we can think up new names for you, together!"

He giggled, running to his closet with a small twirl and opening it fully- it was full of lots of different colored t-shirts and shorts, as well as some skirts and dresses. What followed was him attempting to pull the jellyfish towards his closet. "I know it's.. .hard, but try to find some up sides in this, okay? Life has a strange habit of making beautiful things occur out of tragedy. You're free to wear anything you want from my wardrobe, by the way!" He truly felt, if this person could relax, he'd love it here and be loved by the people here. It'd just take time.

An island for the supernatural, did that mean that Ryuk was unusual too? He'd sort of been dismissing it, but the way he was talking was a little off sometimes, and the way he seemed to have a calming effect was the same type of odd. He wondered what else was on the island. No modern technology could've been responsible for what happened to him, it was possible that the island had something to do with it.

Could stress really be enough to get him to forget his name? He wasn't sure, but the idea of taking it easy for a bit sounded nice. While Ryuk patted his bell again, he wanted to tell him to stop; but at the same time, he almost felt as if he enjoyed it. He decided to let it pass again this time, but if it happened again, he was going to stop it... for sure. The idea of a new name sort of sad, as he wanted to figure out what his actual name was, but it was probably going to have to happen eventually. A tour of the island probably wasn't a bad idea either. If he was going to be staying, he might as well learn about where. He nodded to both suggestions "Okay, that might be a good idea."

He was taken by surprise when Ryuk enthusiastically pulled him over to his closet. Inside, it almost looked as if Ryuk just bought everything he thought looked pretty. The variety of different clothing was actually a lot more than anything he'd ever seen before. The jellyfish boy wasn't particularly picky about clothing at the moment, he'd basically thrown appearance out the window. But still, he felt like it might be nice to wear something other than the oversized bathing suit he was currently sporting. "I, uh, thanks." He was genuinely thankful, as he reached in for a random shirt, taking the first one he found. He went to put it on, but ended up having trouble fitting his bell through the neck hole.

He stood there, with the rest of the shirt being too large, covering his head as he repeatedly attempted to pull his bell through the neck of the shirt so that he could put it on. If his head fit through the jar, then it had to fit through the shirt, so he kept at it. The biggest issue was the lack of muscle power he had to pull on the shirt, but with one big pull, his head finally slipped right through like jello. The shirt went a ways past his waist, but it was still much better. He was a little annoyed and embarrassed by the display that it took to get it on, but he was trying to pretend it simply never happened. "So, umm, how do I look?" He didn't really get a good look at the shirt he put on, he just knew it was blue.

Honestly, Ryuk wasn't sure if his touches were allowed because the boy didn't feel he could stop him, or because he simply liked it- either way, he liked giving him affection. He'd ask about it later, though.. for now, he wanted to make sure the jellyboy was settled. Giving him something positive to focus on, instead of his earlier panicking and negativity.

"Great! Um.. a little later, though.. I need to relax a bit. I was just out, before you came.. I know sometimes people use this.. "internet" thing, though.. names might be on there. It apparently has the answer to everything!" He yawned slightly, clearly tired. He'd forgotten he'd originally come here to nap before the box, but with the adrenaline wearing off, he was ready to sleep, nearly. Not yet, though.. Maybe once his jelly friend had a plan for what to do next.

Something about letting his new friend pick things out from his closet felt nice- perhaps he just took pride in his collection. He often just picked out whatever he liked on the rack, which.. made for interesting outfits later on. But perhaps the jellyfish could make an outfit even better than be could, with them!

... That was, of course, if he could put it on. Ryuk had to admit it was downright hilarious- as well as adorable. He even wanted to help him, but he knew helping him would probably hurt his feelings. Instead he bit his cheek hard to keep from laughing- which quickly turned those tiny giggles into a soft, pained whine as he rubbed his cheek lightly. Despite the near instant karma, he was able to appreciate the outfit- in fact, seeing his friend in one of his shirts caused him to excitedly squeak, jumping to hug him again. "It looks wonderful on you, you look great! But I thought you did before, too." He paused before adding, "By the way, your bell is really cool. I love how it's so squishy."

It seemed like a good idea to take a break from freaking out, just for a while, and rest. Ryuk looked a little exhausted, and he figured that focusing on something else might ease his mind and hopefully help him remember the things he'd suddenly forgotten. There was no way he was going to leave the room without Ryuk, so he was probably going to have to find something to do inside. Hearing Ryuk talk about the internet reminded him of his phone, it would've been pretty useful to have, he could just go into his contacts and find everything. Sadly, his bathing suit didn't even have pockets, let alone a phone inside.

Shortly after asking how he looked, a squeak came from Ryuk. The jelly boy knew all too well what this meant by now, wincing as Ryuk lunged forward and hugged him. He squirmed just a little, while Ryuk told him how great it looked. He was a little flattered, up until Ryuk mentioned his bell. He looked up at it, then back at Ryuk, while his entire head starting turning slightly purple, in what was probably the equivalent of blushing. "I didn't ask about that!" He found his bell... embarrassing, to say the least. He tried to shove Ryuk away, but it was going to take Ryuk letting him go to get away, his push had about the same power as a four year old. If he managed to get away, he'd turn around, standing up tugging on his tentacles, still blushing in a deep purple.

"Look, if I'm going to stay here, we're going to need some rules!" He wasn't angry with Ryuk, it was more along the lines of being embarrassed and flustered. "First of all, you're going to have to be less... touchy. Also, I'm going to need a step or something, so that I can reach stuff..." He got quieter as he said the second thing, but then regained his authoritative tone for the third. "Lastly, you can refer to me as cool, strong, or great, but cute is off limits." He started walking toward Ryuk, pointing his finger at him. "Do I make myself cle-" He was cut off when he lost his balance, falling face first on the ground in front of Ryuk. Walking was definitely going to take some getting used to.

Ryuk... hadn't expected his jellyfish friend to change colors- honestly, it was hard to even notice the boy was trying to break free of his hold at first due to how mesmerized he was by the hue. It was quite pretty, really, as if he was looking at a beautiful sunset from the bottom of a sea. It calmed him, really, allowing his grip to ease, and thus, allowing the shorter individual to break free of him- which caused him to gasp slightly, followed by a soft, pitiful whine as he made grabby motions for the jellyfish, clearly missing the affections already.

He only lowered his arms as he listened to the boy speak, a bit.. surprised, by the tone. Had his touches really bothered him that much? He didn't seem mad, but it did seem he'd gone too far, as he always did. He offered an apologetic smile, about to touch his bell again- but realized adding any more touching on top of what he'd already done would probably be too much. Instead, he pulled out his notepad.

... Which he would have actually used to write his words instead of telepathy, had the boy not immediately fell. Letting out a worried, high-pitched whine of sorts he immediately went to kneel beside him, helping him up as he thought to him. "Are you okay? You aren't hurt, are you? There's a nurse, I can get the nurse!" He was a bit frantic, as he flailed like that.

Beside him, there were some things written on the notepad he had meant to say, but had simply forgotten to in his panic. If noticed, it read, 'I am sorry for touching you so much.. I like touching, it makes me very happy, but I also want you happy so I will stop. I have a step... somewhere in here, I will need to find it.

I already think you're cool! And strong! And great!! But I also think you're cute, and super pretty, and you are a good friend-' Of course, it ended there, as that had been the point he'd been distracted by checking on the jelly person. Something to note was how every exclamation mark had a little heart there instead of a dot, as, usually, that was how Ryuk wrote. And he took no shame in that.

The way the jellyfish boy saw it, all of his dignity died with that fall. What was really Ryuk's floor, felt like rock bottom. It wasn't so bad there actually, lying on the floor, maybe he could just stay there forever. That was when Ryuk came over and stood him back up. As Ryuk spoke to him again in that weird way he did, the jelly boy responded with a defeated "I'm okay..." That was the thing about Ryuk that made him willing to stick around. He may have been constantly invading his personal space, but Ryuk seemed to always mean well. He was just a genuinely good person, and there was something admirable about that. "I'm okay" He muttered in a defeated tone.

As he stood there, he could see Ryuk's notepad, and curiously looked over to read what was written down. It made him feel a little guilty as he read it. Ryuk seemed to think so highly of him, but he clearly didn't deserve it, he wasn't nearly as good of a friend as what Ryuk thought. He was Ryuk's guest, and so far he'd been nothing but demanding and upset. He let out a sigh, he really hated admitting to being in the wrong. "Alright look, I might have overreacted. You can still be a little touchy, I get that it's just part of who you are, just don't overdo it, okay?"

He felt odd now, he didn't think he was tired, he'd just woken up? But it was getting harder to stand, and he felt a bit weak. "I, I think I'm getting tired, and you look like you could use a nap yourself, maybe we should rest now." His body was now more along the lines of a kid now, it was possible that he needed to have regular naps or something now. Although he kind of hoped that wasn't the case.

"I'm okay," was all Ryuk needed to hear from the boy. A wave of relief came over the merman as, sighing through his nose, he gave a tiny smile. "Thank goodness..! I was scared you'd hurt yourself.. the floors are hard sometimes.." A tiny pout came to him as he remembered the last time he hit the floor. It wasn't fun at all, but hey, it happened to the best of us.

When the boy took the notepad to read it, Ryuk carefully examined him. He didn't seem upset by the words, but he was slightly disappointed he'd been unable to finish his lines before his friend had a chance to read. His follow-up, verbal response was promising, and caused him to perk up, his eyes lighting up like a Christmas tree as the beginnings of a smile formed. His features fell a moment after, though, as he appeared to be deep in thought.

After a moment, he gave the boy's shoulders a squeeze as he looked up at him with that same concern he'd had before. ".. I would like that, being touchy with you, but I don't want you to do it because you feel bad. I refuse to touch you unless you're entirely comfortable with it. It's.. what friends do. And I want to be your friend. A good one."

He was a bit surprised to see the jellyboy was already tired, but he didn't blame him- it'd been a stressful day for him, more than likely. He would suggest they head right to bed, but.. looking at his hands, they were even more wrinkled than before. A momentary frown appeared, but he quickly shoved it back to smile instead, as he patted his friend on the bell. "That would be.. nice. You go to bed first, I need some water before I do. Otherwise you'll wake up next to an old man." He couldn't help a tiny giggle at this thought.

Jelly boy started making his way over to the box he had came in, which seemed to be a bit of a challenge for him. He was having even more trouble balancing himself than initially. He wasn't sure why, but he suspected it had something to do with being tired. He almost fell a few times, but he managed to get to the box and start shoving it toward the corner of the room. The box wasn't moving too fast, but it was going to get there, eventually...

He looked back over at Ryuk, with an almost confused look. "I think you're over exaggerating a little, going to bed without drinking has never killed anyone..." He was still completely oblivious to the fact that Ryuk was a merman, he didn't even think they existed.

He never actually explained the reasoning for pushing the box over to the corner, but once he got there, it became a little less of a secret. The jellyfish climbed over the edge and into the box. The packing peanuts were surprisingly comfortable, and although it didn't seem like he fit well, his body was able to squish and make it fit perfectly. Having a squishy body had its perks, it actually made everything feel a little comfortable, he probably could've even slept on the floor. Until he figured out a different plan for a bed, he was perfectly content with the box.

He didn't fall asleep just yet, but lying down was certainly a lot nicer than standing for some reason. So he just lied on the packing peanuts, with his eyes open.

Ryuk giggled as he watched the boy fiddle with the box- it was adorable, honestly.. He wanted to help, but felt that might hurt his pride- so instead he just watched, smiling and clapping once he'd reached the corner, clearly proud of him and his dedication.

He'd be lying if he said the mentions of not dying without water didn't hurt, but he also knew that this guy more than likely didn't know. Ah, well.. he'd tell him later. It wasn't something he wanted to dwell on right now. Well-- he never wanted to dwell on how his people died, but especially not before he planned on taking a nap. Speaking of.. he was just a bit surprised as his friend settled into his box. He'd planned on sleeping on the floor so jellyfish boy could have the bed, but.. he supposed this worked too. Maybe he was just comfortable like that.

Regardless, he needed water, so he went into the bathroom for just a moment, coming out with a full gallon full of the stuff- which he proceeded to down, bit by bit. It took a while, but the more he drank, you could practically see his wrinkles disappear, and his body plump up as it was hydrated once more. An excited squeal left him by the time he'd finished the gallon, setting it down with a very content sigh and running to leap onto, and then snuggle, his bed with some happy giggles. He now barely felt like he needed rest, but would gladly take it anyway.

The jellyfish boy laid quietly on the bed, trying to clear his mind. There was a lot on it, so he figured it was going to be difficult to get to sleep. He was unusually tired, so he hoped that might help.

He stayed awake while Ryuk went and got water, then sipped at it for a long time. He must've had a ton of it, because it took him a while. Eventually he heard an enthusiastic squeak, as Ryuk pounced on his bed. From the sounds of it, the tables had turned. Now he was the tired one, and Ryuk sounded pretty lively.

Ryuk probably thought he was already asleep, but he didn't say anything to change that. He just turned over and tried to go to bed for real. Despite everything that he had to think about, he fell asleep sooner than ever before. He was too exhausted to question it, but there was something unusual about how he'd gotten so weak and tired like that. It wasn't a big deal though, surely it would be better when he woke up.
