Two Days

"No," Jude admitted, and then paused for a moment. "Kind of when I first saw you, but... I mean, you were there first. If I think lizardman, it's going to be you, not him. And he's alive, so..."

He'd almost killed him... but he hadn't. He was still alive, probably locked down in the station somewhere.

"That's why I shot him first. Because he was durable. Because I knew if I shot him center mass he'd get back up from it. Maybe not quickly, but I didn't think he'd die."

Turnabout was fair play. People said that, but... Jude sighed, reaching up to rake his fingers through his hair.

"I don't know. I was never like that. I guess because of my dad? I felt like not killing anyone was a line I was drawing between him and me. He killed people, I didn't. Only now I do. Even if they were for the right reasons."

He grimaced.

"Just feels like things are a bit less black and white."
