"Geez, how far did Straight As get?"
Tomo huffed frustrated as she scouted the street, following Lucas' scent. It was pretty hard since the city was fairly full duing the later afternoon / early evening. But Tomo's nose was sharp, and she had Tadashi as backup if she lost the scent.
"This is what you get for tryin' to throw a bone."
Tomo said and turned to look at Tadashi a bit, grinning.
"Get it? Throw a bone? 'Cos he's a dog?"
Tomo laughed at her own joke and elbowed a group of teenage boys out of her way as she tracked Lucas down while joking around. The boys didn't seem appreciative but at least they didn't come after them.

Finally Tomo saw Lucas. He had already almost reached the residential area. Tomo sprinted the last meters and jumped onto Lucas' back. It wasn't hard, the guy was almost as short as she was.
"Ayyy, birthday boy! Dude, 's cold to leave us hangin' like that. C'mon, let's do something! Birthdays only happen once a year, ya know! An' me an' bro already got ours!"
Tomo sounded whiny but she was grinning and had wrapped her arms around Lucas in a playful headlock.
"I won' let go till ya say yes!"

"We should catch up to him soon. We're pretty quick when we want to be." Tadashi hoped the boy actually would be ok with them coming to find him. Sometimes people just wanted to be alone.

Tadashi had bolted out of the community center in cat form to catch up but had switched back to his human form as they searched for Lucas in the crowd. Where Tomo was happy to elbow and push past groups of people, Tadashi was more careful and slipped between the gaps where he could. It kept him a little bit behind but it also didn't disturb people as much.

He grinned at the joke, though it was admittedly a little corny. "Yeah I got it, just don't make me put a leash on you to keep you from starting a fight."

Tomo had spotted Lucas first and as she sprinted Tadashi was left once again to rush to catch up. If it had been anyone other than Tomo he would have been surprised to see them jump onto someone's back to get their attention. "Yeah Lucas, let's do something fun for your birthday. Don't make me join my sister. Might make us all tumble over into a heap," he laughed, "although that might be fun too..." Tadashi grinned and prepared to jump.
