Turma

13 | April 26 | Female | Gluttony Demon
Student | Remedial
appearance
Turma is, to no small extent, unsettling to look at. Her skin is a vague shade of brown that places her in no real ethnicity. Her eyes are slightly too large and too far apart, with a nose that is small enough to go unnoticed if one isn't looking hard enough. With thin lips, dull brown hair, and a figure that can only vaguely be called feminine, she really isn't much to look at. Rather plain, if falling somewhat into the Uncanny Valley.

She dresses in the Starlight Academy Uniform, the only clothes that she cares to own, and rarely seems to wash it. Thus her uniform almost always has small stains, is wrinkled badly, and has the faintest smell of the beginnings of mildewing from how often she simply lets it air dry. Occasionally she is forced to wash her uniform, leaving her in a loaner set of jeans and a t-shirt until they are cleaned. Her most prized possession however is a crown of her own design. She made it from a popcorn bucket, a tattered old beanie she found in the trash, a ping pong ball, and a little plastic roach all glued together. She also carries a 'scepter,' really just a child's miniature golf putter spray painted gold (not actually gold, but school bus yellow).

Turma carries on her person a backpack filled with 'snacks' (i.e. any organic material she could get her hands on) and her most loyal subjects (something to the tune of a thousand roaches of varying species).

Turma's demonic form is... something of an oddity. She mostly resembles her normal human self, but with the revolting addition of a gigantic cockroach growing from her body where her hair should be, as if the massive insect is gnawing on her scalp.

personality
Turma is not a smart girl. That isn't to say she isn't clever in her own way or that she's naive. But she has immense difficulty grasping concepts such as math beyond basic multiplication and division. She will never be able to read A Tale of Two Cities to any level of comprehension, let alone discuss the intricacies of it in any way. She is, in a word, simple.

In a way, Turma likes to think of herself as a princess. No, a queen. She has all these loyal subjects (her roaches) who love her dearly and want to serve her unconditionally. She loves them all, but doesn't seem to understand that some things might hurt them. She likens herself as a brave and noble leader to all roach-kind. But when the chips are down, she is a coward. She will run and hide and leave her subjects to fight and die in her stead. And she will feel awful about it, but then she will forget.

Turma is also kind of boy crazy. She fawns over practically any beautiful boy she sees and will pine over them from afar. But she is far too nervous to approach, to flirt, to try courting. However as her year-long lifespan gets closer to its end, she will lose the nervousness and attempt to proposition any male she can so that she can lay a clutch of eggs. If that fails, her personality shifts more and she will resort to less savory methods to ensure her continued survival.

abilities
Active
Demonic Form
Turma can shift between her human and demonic forms at will, although she cannot do this in an area of sufficiently bright light (such as outdoors during the day or in a room lit with florescent lights). In such situations, she is stuck in whichever form she is presently in. While in her demon form, she can run up to 80 mph for short bursts (no more than two minutes before needing ten minutes to catch her breath), fly short distances and glide safely to the ground using her wings, and crawl up and across any surface, even walls and ceilings. Her antennae in her demonic form also offer her a ridiculously keen sense of smell, able to pick out individual odors among hundreds.

An Army of Filth
Turma has absolute control over every roach of any species in a mile of herself. She can use their senses as her own, but has difficulty managing visual and auditory information due to the vast difference in eye structure. So she relies more on their senses of touch and being able to pinpoint their positions to move them effectively. This has the effect of making Turma's brain strangely keyed into micromanagement, allowing her to move her roach minions in separate groups the way one might walk, talk, and perform a task with one's hands at the same time. She can only command up to 1000 roaches at a time.

Passive
Glutton's Appetite
Turma is capable of ingesting and digesting any organic matter without injury or illness. This means she is immune to things that would normally be toxic and illnesses. She has a voracious appetite and must consume five times the normal amount of 'food' as a normal person to maintain her health.

Rebirth of the Queen
Turma, when born, rapidly matures until she is roughly at physical adolescence. Then she will stop and, within a year, simply die. During that time, she will attempt to lay a clutch of eggs that will hatch into normal roaches. When she dies or is killed in any way, so long as some roaches from the clutch the current version of her gave birth to still live, one of them will rapidly grow over the course of a month into a clone of Turma at the same level of physical maturity. Each subsequent generation has vague memories of her previous lives, with each degree of separation becoming less and less clear.
If Turma is killed and eaten by her mother or one of her siblings, she will not cycle into a next life even if she has laid her eggs.

Ankle Biter Perks
Has inherent knowledge that a young teenager in her cultural environment would have, but academic knowledge is insufficient for her apparent age. Speaks English, Abyssal, and Latin. Knows the abilities of her mother and siblings.

Weakness
Demonic Weaknesses
Objects associated with Catholicism or Christianity in general make Turma nauseous and being in a sacred place such as a church gives her intense vertigo. Contact with divine objects burns her badly and these burns will not heal without magical assistance. A wound from a divine object or weapon that would kill her will keep her from respawning, even if she has laid a clutch of eggs and let them hatch.

Fire
Fire terrifies Turma to the point that she will run away from it if any fire larger than a lighter flame is lit within one hundred feet of her. Natural burns that she receives take three times as long to heal and cause her immense pain beyond what a human might experience.

Light
Turma is incredibly near-sighted in any area with light brighter than the ambient light of a campfire. While in this state, she can only make out details of objects and words by nearly pressing her face against them. While light itself does not repel her, the pain caused by a sudden shift from darkness to bright light causes her to instinctively flee, diving under whatever nearby surface she thinks will provide her with shade.

biography
Was born on April 26, 2018 as a cluster of seemingly mundane roaches. Escaped and rapidly grew into her human form over the course of a month. Was taken by the school and put in remedial classes.

Resources
Lives at the school and gets a weekly stipend for food and things.
