Trying to Keep My Cool

Deacon was taken by surprise when she laughed. He didn't think that he would make her laugh just by trying to pronounce her name, in which he apparently did correctly. Then he felt her blue hand on his cheek. It felt cold, yet soothing. He liked it. He saw the next thing she wrote.

"I was told my parents were French." it read.

Though it may have been apparent, it would be nice for Deacon to get to know someone from outside the states. It seemed that she wasn't so sure about herself, in terms of personal history. "Well, if that's true, then that would be awesome! I never really had the chance to meet anyone from outside the states. That obviously means that I'm just another typical American."

Eloi bit her lip. She didn't live in France... She'd never even been to France. Though that would be hard to explain in sand. She shook her head, and shrugged. She had a little French accent in her thoughts, but she couldn't speak the language. She thought it was a little odd, but hey, if you're French, you think French. Right?

Pondering on when she would share with Deacon her power, she wiped the words away in the sand, and drew some more.

"Power?" And then pointed to him, with a raised eyebrow.

Deacon frowned when she shook her head. Maybe she wasn't French after all. He looked down into the sand again to see what she had written next. "Power?" it read. Deacon had to take a moment to try and comprehend the writing, then he saw finger pointing in his direction. Then it hit him. It seemed that she wanted to know what his power is. "Oh...I get it! What's my power, you say? Well...again I'm just your typical American..." He laid flat in the sand and raised his right hand in the air. A ball of fire had formed in his palm. "....and just your typical pyro."

"....and just your typical pyro."

Eloi's eyes went wide as Deacon laid on his back and created a fireball out of nowhere. She gasped and her hands flew to her mouth. Though once she realized the fire wasn't going to hurt her, or Deacon, she removed her hands, and laughed. She then clapped and patted Deacon on the cheek lightly. Perhaps she would tug his ear to shut up, and pat his cheek in a job well done.

And then maybe she could avoid using her powers.

Deacon smiled as he felt her hand on his face once again. He clenched a fist with the hand with the fire to snuff it out, then he sat up on the sand again. "Don't worry. I won't hurt ya with it, or at least I'll try not to hurt ya with it. If I just happen to do just that, then I probably won't forgive myself for it."

Eloi looked at him with a confused face as he started going on about how if he hurt her he'd never forgive himself, she shook her head lightly, and tugged on his ear. She didn't think it was possible for him to hurt her. And even if it was, she'd been hurt so many times it wouldn't matter.

"You won't." She wrote.

She laughed a little as Deacon was covered with sand. She scooted over to him a little closer, not much, but a little, and started to brush off his back of all the sand. She couldn't say she really liked sand, but whenever she was conversing with someone in this manner, sand really came in handy.

Just when Deacon was about to go on about him possibly hurting people, he felt the ear tug yet again, signalling him to just shut up. By now was already used to it. "Alright..." After another moment of dead silence. He leaned to read what she had written next.

"You won't."

"Well, if you say so..." He felt her cold hands swiping the sand off his back. "Thanks." he said. He was now starting to feel down, and he needed a way to cheer himself up. Looking to poke some fun, he picked up some sand and tossed it Eloi's direction.

Eloi looked at him sweetly, and nodded as she wiped off the sand. Though before she knew it, she was covered with sand! She gasped and glared playfully at Deacon before scooping up a handful herself, and throwing it at him. She laughed, and stuck out her tongue playfully.

"That'll teach him!" She thought to herself.

She stood up, and placed her hands on her hips, ready to bend down and scoop up more sand if she needed to.

Deacon reached for some more sand when he felt more sand hitting him. He looked up at her with an evil, yet playful grin. "Oh, so you want to play? Well then let's play." He pushed himself up from the ground, then lifted one foot up. In a swinging motion his foot struck the sand. He kicked some of it in her direction.

Eloi brought her arms up, shielding her face from the sand as Deacon kicked it at her. She laughed, and stuck out her tongue, and she bent down, scooping a handful of sand, and threw some back at him. What a goofy boy! She laughed some more. This was the most fun she'd had since... Since she could even remember! She wanted to say thank you to Deacon, though the words would never come out.

"Oh, so you want to play? Well then let's play."

She looked up at him with a big smile across her face, and nodded, waving her hands with a 'come on' gesture. She was ready, baby!
