Stephen sat at a desk trying to do his homework, but his mind kept wandering to the dance. I wonder if I should ask someone....I'm kind of new... He looked angrily at his paper. No! Of course I can't ask someone. Who would go to the dance with me?! His frown depend. Why do they even have dances? All it does is make people fel stupid for having to ask people. He slammed a fist down on the table. Why am I even thinking about this?! I need to get back to work. He looked around him. He knew they all thought he was crazy. He sighed, and looked back down at his work

Ara suddenly looked up from her work and at the boy who had just slammed his first on the table. She stared at him for a moment, and glanced around the room. She picked up her books and her staff and walked over to him. She laid her books on the table, and took a seat across from him.

"Hello," she said with a smile. "I hope you don't mind if I sit over here... I'm Ara. It's a pleasure to meet you!" She stretched her arm across the table to shake his hand. She hadn't met anyone yet, and hoped she could find a friend in him.

Stephen looked up to see a girl in front of him. 'Uuh...hi. I'm Stephen.' He realized that she had her hand out and took it nervously. 'Nice to meet you too.' He gave a shy smile, and looked around the room. There didn't seem to be anyone there. Great...the pressure mounts. He swallowed and looked back at her. 'So, are you knew? I haven't seen you around.' His smile grew more relaxed. 'Though I'm pretty new too.'

"Yeah, I'm new... I just got here today, actually," Ara said with another smile. She looked back at her work for a moment; it was all math, and she wouldn't have bothered to do it if it wasn't so easy.

She finished off the problem in about two minutes. Five down, twenty more to go... she thought to herself, looking back up at Stephen. She decided she might as well get another conversation going. "So... since everyone here has a power, I'm guessing you have one. I can fly and teleport... and uh... transform into a horse.... What's yours?" Ara put her pencil down, and smiled once again.

Stephens smile quavered. 'My..uhh, power? Umm, I can transform into an animal too.' That's true enough... He thought to himself. 'And, that's pretty much it.' He gave her a fake smile, and looked down at his work.

Ara smiled. "Cool! I didn't think I'd meet anyone else who could transform into an animal! But I guess it's possible for that, right? I mean, there's a lot of people who have powers, and I doubt everyone has a different one. If no one had the same power, no one would be able to teach each other how to use it!"

That didn't even make sense, did it? she thought, her cheeks reddening slightly as she picked up her pencil once again and started the next problem. I just met him and I've already made a fool of myself...

Stephen watched her turn red and look away. Wow, that's usually me. He looked down and pouted. What am I supposed to do now. He glanced over at her and opened his mouth to say something.
But nothing came out.
So he closed his mouth and looked away again. Ok...
He turned back to his work and started writting again.

Myron stormed into the room, dumping his rucksack on the floor before sititng down on a sofa. No homework yet, he hadn't even been into a class. So why the bad mood? Myron didn't want to be here. He thought, with a small grimace, of how his parents had pretty much made him come, and frowned. It's not fair! Why do they have to do this to me?

Myron had been perfectly happy at his old school, but no. Just because he was gifted, he had to come here. He folded his arms, a look of anger on his face, his brow furrowed. Not noticing anybody else in the room, that was how he stayed, steaming in his own thoughts.
