August had decided to spend his afternoon in the school library. He had a test to study for, and that had gone well for all of ten seconds before he grew incredibly bored. He hadn't caught that he had been reading the same sentence over and over until he realised that he could recite the sentence perfectly. Blinking, August looked down at Gisa, who had been hiding under his feet since they arrived. The library had allowed his curious pet in, once he told them how incredibly reliant she was on him. Some days, it was irritating, watching his over-sized house cat chirp after his heels. Other days, it wasn't so bad. He go plenty of admiring looks from both genders, and his Gisa certainly helped that.
Holding his hand in his palm, August flipped through the pages of the book, rather bored. A small spark erupted from his fingertips, and easily caught on the brittle pages. Covering it quickly with his hand, August extinguished the flames with his hand, cutting off it's air supply. Crisis averted, August removed his hand from the now smouldering hole and shook it, wincing at the burn that now radiated over his palm. Gisa smelled his smoke, and chirped in concern, her furry body moving to press into his warm legs.
August knew that a library probably wasn't the most ideal place for a fire elemental, but there was no where else to go, and it was wet outside. An elderly librarian had scurried over, smelling smoke. August tried to look as innocent as possible, staring intensely at the words until his eyes blurred. His ruse worked, and the woman looked right past him. Looking back at his hand, August scowled at the burn once more. He almost had half a mind to set this whole stupid place ablaze. Then he couldn't accidentally burn himself again. Heaving a rather dramatic sigh, August let his head flop back into his hand, as he toyed with the pages of the book once more, heating them up enough on the edges to glow a little, but not burn.
