Belladonna wasn't the violent type. However she was drawn to the sparring club, having seen fights breaking out in class or around the school grounds, both friendly and not, and she noticed that she was passively observing the moves of combatants. Taking it as meaning she had interest in this type of thing, she looked into the club when she saw a flyer for it. And now here she was, in her first fight since her activation. The rules dictated that she couldn't use any of her weapons as they were too lethal for a friendly match, so she simply stood there unarmed, in jeans and a leather jacket for protection. She had also braided her hair so it wouldn't get in the way as much and possibly getting tangled. "Hello, I am Belladonna Evita. I will be your opponent for today." She bowed respectfully, hands clasped together in front of her.

Bryn wasn't part of the sparring club, but they did watch it with interest when they had the opportunity to. And the arena fights as well. Those were always fun. Something about combat appealed to them on a level that felt almost spiritual. It made a certain kind of sense: they were a sword after all.

Their opponent for the first round was a girl named Belladonna. Bryn knew almost nothing about this girl, but they knew that win or lose, they were going to have fun facing her.

With a pleasant wave and a cheerful bell-ringing sound as the only greeting that Bryn gave in response to Bella's introduction, they dropped into a wide stance that looked a lot like a sword fighting guard.

Only with no sword to speak of, of course.

In the depths of her mind, a subroutine activated, the very same one that responded whenever she witnessed a fight. Though this time, being an active fighter, it filled her with brand new modules to execute, akin to fragmented knowledge. She took the first steps forward, walking without a discernable stance except for half-closed fists.

Bryn didn't move forward at first, then lashed out with a powerful punch aimed at their opponent's center of mass. They didn't really know their own strength so they had no idea that throwing their weight behind it made them hit a good deal above their actual skill.

But Bryn was unrefined, their technique hardly what one might call well practiced.

Belladonna picked up on the wind up, and tracked the fist as it was thrown, then from that data stream, she estimated where it would go with its current momentum. Her split-second reaction was to use her outer hand to strike the punching hand at the wrist with her palm, all the while, following her own momentum, do a reverse spin kick.

Bella's form was perfect, and had she been fighting a normal person her counter strike and reversed kick would have been quite effective.

The problem was that Bryn easily weighed over half a ton and when their skin was hit with anything resembling aggressive force, it was like trying to punch a solid metal statue.

Tilting their head in a bit of confusion, uninjured and unmoved, then register with their own palm strike at the leg that had hit them.

The hit was hard, but did not seem to register on her opponent. Her opponent was denser than a normal human. Her leg was palmed away, but Belladonna kept her balance, spinning around instead of trying fight the hit. It was time to re-evaluate her approach. If she couldn't budge her opponent with a kick, there was little chance she could lift them, nor score any meaningful hits. If she were to win this, she would need to get her opponent out of the ring to be disqualified. That was her best bet at the moment. She circled her opponent, staying near the edge of the arena.

Bryn's confusion only increased as Bella backed away from them, heading for the edge of the arena and circling the human-shaped sword. Instead of following, Bryn turned to keep their opponent in line of sight until they could think of something to do.

That was when they got an idea: Bella had really struggled with Bryn's weight, so maybe they could use that to their advantage.

With a sudden burst forward and a leap, Bryn landed hard on the arena floor not too far away from Belladonna. The sudden impact of over half a ton of solid steel made a loud noise and caused the floor to shake briefly. Bryn had no idea if this would throw Bella off, but it seemed like it was worth a try.

The sudden charge caused Belladonna to make a roll to the side, and while the leap and subsequent heavy landing onto the floor did unbalance her for a bit, it was nothing she couldn't compensate for. Though that did give her an idea of her opponent's mass, from the sound and the quake through the arena. She wouldn't be able to lift her opponent, but maybe if she hit the right region, she could shove her. This train of thought only lasted for a split second before she went to test the waters. She ran a short distance towards her opponent an raised her leg to line up a heavy kick towards her opponent's center of mass, as if she was going to kick a door down, putting all her weight behind it, but left her form primed to spring backwards if she couldn't move her opponent at all.

Bryn didn't move when they were kicked, but they saw the kick coming and prepared for it. Bracing themselves, Bryn grabbed at the leg that hit their center of mass, hoping to grab hold of their opponent and keep her still.
