Dr. Madrigal had a pained look on her face, hearing about that. "That's awful! I'm sorry that happened to you. But at least I can fix this much for you. Hold still."

She places her hand on the side of Dalia's face where she had the black eye. Her eyes shut, she muttered something unintelligible. Her hand glowed, streams of magic arcing to various parts of Dalia's body. Dalia's injuries would ache more intensely for a moment, then abruptly stop, leaving behind unblemished skin and a sense of relief.

Dr. Madrigal pulled her hand away. The whole thing took about ten seconds. "And we're done! You can put your sweater back on, if you want." She paused before opening the door, seeming to be lost in thought. Soon, it opened. Soon after that, Chloe was there.

She asked Dalia how the healing went. She handled payment and paperwork by the front door, which barely took any time at all. Soon, the two were back outside, getting back into the limo.

"Alright," Chloe sighed once she was sitting down again. "Now for the fun part! Ever get a manicure before?"

"I-it's fine. I brought it on myself." Dalia let out a little half-hearted laugh, as if trying to reassure both herself and the doctor before inhaling sharply at the sudden aching in her injuries. The sense of relief afterward was both immediate and disarming, but Dalia did as instructed and pulled her sweater back on. She opted to leave the hood down, since she had no reason to hide her face anymore.

Even though the process hadn't taken long at all, Dalia still threw herself at Chloe for a quick hug. She followed along behind her, prattling on about how the healing was super quick and how cool magic is. Asking if Chloe knew any magic, if she herself could learn any.

Dalia paused her line of questioning to shake her head no at Chloe's question, "No, I didn't think I could. Since, ya know..." She held up her clawed hand for emphasis. "But if you think I can, I'd like to try it!"

Chloe could only half-answer the magic questions Dalia gave her. She had been preoccupied with the payment for the treatment. She could say things like "I know magic, but mostly only demon summoning" and "you could totally learn magic, but it's complicated." They could talk more about it later.

They had changed subjects, now that they were in the car. "I know," she grinned when Dalia held up her hands. "We're going to a beauty salon for people with non-human parts, like us. I'm getting a pedicure." She lifted one of her toe-feet, showing off how different from a human foot it was. Scales and claws. "You could probably get a pedicure too. Last time I was there I saw they had a special chair for people with your body type." A centaur had been using it at the time, but someone told her that it would work for her daughter's spider form, too. "I have no idea what a spider pedicure would be like, though."

Chloe's answers about magic, as half-formed as they were, got the spiderling's mind racing with ideas. What cool things could she do with magic? Could she make herself have human legs? She briefly looked down at her spider legs and grimaced a bit, but only a bit.

The salon sounded really nice. Dalia picked at her sleeve, not from anxiety this time, but excitement. What all could she get done there? The excitement buzzed in her head and made her hop around a bit in the back of the limo. She stared at Chloe's feet. She knew they were different from a human's, but she had never seen them up close. They looked really cool.

"That sounds awesome!" Then she paused, thinking. "Do you think they could give me a marking like mama has on her abdomen?" It sounded stupid to her when she said it out loud though, but it was one of the things Dalia had always wanted. That her sisters had, but she didn't. Like the human-like forms they could all take.

Chloe needed to think about that for a second. "Probably!" She decided. "It shouldn't be too hard. We can ask them about it." The last time Chloe went there, she didn't get to hear anything about how the carapace polish stuff worked. She felt like she ought to know, since her daughter and all of her nieces had carapace on them. This time she would pay attention. "Do you know what you want the design to look like? It'd probably help to come with a reference. I can lend you some scratch paper if you want to sketch it out."

In the middle of their excitement about their manicures or mani/pedis, Chloe remembered: "So, I think I came up with a solution for your problem with Argenta. Unless you've tried it already. Have you tried apologizing to her, for bullying her last term?"

[Tom=https://i.imgur.com/tpaLHMt.jpg, #ff9900] Dalia got all excited by the prospect of the mani/pedi and the thought of getting a marking on her abdomen. "Yeah, that sounds nice. I'll draw something up. She happily took the paper and pen from Chloe, thinking. Her mama and sisters had skulls, so maybe a skull? But she needed to make it unique. What was special about her?

Suddenly in a moment of inspiration, Dalia drew her design. It was a skull, like the others in her family, but it was surrounded by a simple flame design. It fit, she thought. Made her unique. And maybe she could change it if she wanted to later. Like those temporary tattoo things she had seen some people with.
The idea made her smile. Even if she didn't have a human form, she could make her spider half prettier. Maybe then...

Dalia's train of thought was cut off by Chloe's question. It made her smile fall, being reminded of her situation like that. That it was all her fault. "No. I mean, I did try. I apologized last week. And she just- just laughed and called me weak."
Dalia's frown turned into a glare. She wasn't weak. She was the toughest kid in her grade. "I don't think she's ever gonna stop..."[/Tom]
