The bare soles of Gabe's feet hit the top of the roof with a soft thud. He hadn't quite mastered the art of landing gracefully yet, but he'd gotten a lot better at it since the first day he had gone flying. That had ended up pretty disastrously when he hadn't been able to slow himself down; he'd ended up crashing through Bill's window - creating a nasty mess and nearly giving the poor boy a heart attack.
The atmosphere of tonight reminded him a little of that one, the air was nice and balmy, and there wasn't much wind. He'd been enjoying flying, and he was only beginning to come down from the high it gave off. He'd been too absorbed in what he'd been doing to pay attention to anything around him.
However now Gabe noticed that something was a bit off. He could hear footsteps, he was pretty sure there was someone coming up behind him. Racking his brains, he tried to think who it could be. Who else would have reason to be up on the roofs this late at night? Someone else who'd gone flying maybe? He hadn't seen anybody, but then again he had been observing the stretches of land and miniature-looking buildings below.
Gabe tensed, hunching his shoulders a little. He shifted his weight and slowly turned around to see who it was.
