To think of the past

Mikael had not done much these past days, not more then to try and stay away from people around him. He just wanted to be left alone and not have anything to do with anyone. The best place for this he found out was the lake not far from the school, he often went there when he needed to be all on his own. He had his usual spot on a large boulder where he could sit and watch the water of the lake and yet have a clear vision of the area around him.

Today he had taken some old things with him, it was a large book filled with old photos he had taken over the years, photos from his life and things he had done. He examined them with tired eyes as he began to think back of memories he has saw a familiar picture. Most people in here was dead by now, dead or old. It was very sad really, nothing he could run away from since it was a simple fact. They where dead and was never going to come back. Sometimes he wished that he had died with so many others on Titanic, but he missed it so he never got to be in the accident. The pain was to great for him to even cry anymore, he was dry from tears, his heart was turned to stone because of the pain. Yet it hurt so much that he could not stand it and just wanted to end his life, yet he could not even if he tried.

It was him. Jamin looked back down at the photo again just to double check. Same eyes, same hair, face, everything. Although maybe a little older, but not my much. Jamin's heart pounded quickly, filled with excitement. The man from the stories was really here. Not only was he just here, but he was in front of Jamin at this very moment. He grinned, an idea forming in his mind before he slipped into his feline body in the form of a small orange tabby cat with large green eyes.

He trotted over to Mikael's feet loudly purring to get his attention. He sat and waited for his possible ancestor to pay attention to him. Of course he knew that Mikael would not know who he was, or even know he existed, but he was very excited.

Mikael slowly turned his eyes down and he noticed the cat, he tilted his head a little to the side as he watched it. A cat in the forest like this? Well it was no impossible he guessed. Slowly he reached down and made a few purring sounds to make the cat come a little closer, if the cat did then he would calmly pick it up and placed it in his knee, then he would begin to scratch it behind the left ear. It was really nice with cats and Mikael loved them very much, he could talk to cats and they where often very good at listening to what he wanted to say.

"Surprised to see someone like you here" he said with a calm voice and began to stroke the cats back with soft motions. "But in a way it was nice that you came, it was getting lonely. Maybe a little to lonely, I wonder if you could understand me? I doubt that my furry little friend, I have been though more things then anyone possibly could imagine." he sighed and the eyes moved to the closed book next to himself.

Jamin smiled inwardly as he was stroked by his ancestor, looking at him with his piercing green eyes. He curled up and sat at Mikael's feet, staring up at him, his eyes begging for a story. He looked up, longing to hear the story that Mikael would have to tell him. He even got the brilliant idea that maybe, just maybe, Jamin would be able to cast out images to have him relive the stories. He's never tried to control it in that way, or tried to use both powers at once, but, he could always try.

He continued staring, hoping Mikael would take the hint.

Mikael looked at the cat as it stared up at him. It was something weird about the animals. He smiled a little and then he closed his eyes for a moment as he tried to think what to say. "Well I guess a little story from my past could not hurt, have not talked about it for very long. But the question is what to tell. There is so much" he picked up the book with pictured and began to flip though the pages. "The building of the Titanic, the visit to Africa, my time in the army, my time in the secret group created to take down Hitler, my time with Sara..."

Mikaels fingers moved over the pages as he was talking. He stopped as his hand arrived on the picture of the his wife. They never left each other and Mikael still had his ring after all these years. He smiled a little, "Would be nice if you wanted to show me what I should tell about you know, might make this much easier." he calmly picked up the vat and placed it next to him on the boulder, then he again began to flip though the pages and waited for a moment when the cat would do something to give a hint where he should stop.

Jamin leaped, then pounced on his feet when he reached the mention of Sara. He knew that name. It was his grandmother's mother. He began to purr furiously, trying to force Mikael to understand that that was the story he wanted to hear. If he could get Mikael to admit it, he would explain who he really was.

He looked up at Mikael and waited to see if he would understand what he said.

Mikael noticed the reaction and he frowned a little and flipped to the page with Sara, she was a pretty woman with long hair, since it was so old the picture lacked color. "You want to hear about Sara? Well that is a very dramatic part of my life, sad and yet the happiest....but okey then I guess it can´t hurt to tell you" he scratched the cat behind the ear for a moment and then he glanced to the picture again. "Where to begin, it all started when I joined the army during the second world war, I was still unsure of my own inability to die even if I was over 50 years then and both my mother and father was dead. I only saw it as natural for me to join the army. My time there was interesting and I made many friends and my status grew with time, thanks to my regenerating powers I was never wounded in battle so the others gave me the name Wonder boy." he smiled a little and shook his head and pointed at a picture of a soldier with dark hair. "Marcus Manchest, a real joker most of the time. But what a man he was, he could make us laugh even in the heat of battle." then his face turned serious again. "I still remember the day he was killed, a grenade from the enemy line took his life." he did not say anything for a moment and then he continued. "Further down the road of my military involvement I joined a little group called the hands of justice, our mission was to assassinate Adolf Hitler and that way put an end to all the madness of the war. It was a good plan and would most likely have worked if it was not for the fact that we had a traitor in our group that secretly reported everything we did to the leader of the Nazi."

Mikael sighed once more and pointed at a woman that was on a picture. "Madelene was her name, never though she would betray us like she did, but I guess the though of money and power was to great for her to resist. Anyway I was the one to do the deed to take the madman's life, but they plan was ruined when armed men rushed inside and captured me. I was taken to meet Hitler and he had heard about my...special ability to regrow parts of my body, I was not going to be executed but instead taken to a secret base located one of the Nazi headquarters.." Mikael made yet another pause to let the words sink in before he continued.

"I was taken to this place and I can tell you my little friend that it was the most horrible weeks of my life, every day something horrible happened and they did all kinds of things to test my power, the pain was unlike anything I had ever felt, but it also happened that the bored men wanted to have some fun of there own and I happened to be the perfect toy they wanted. I was tortured and abused for weeks. But it was there in that place I meet her, Sara. She and her twin brother Simon was Jews but the Nazi had some weird thing about blond twins and wanted to make tests on them, we shared the same cell and became very close during this time. They where always there at night when I often had to cry myself to sleep, Sara used to wrapp me in her arms and say that everything was going to be okey. I trusted her word and with right" Mikael looked up into the sky. "The english army arrived and freed us from our captors, we where taken back to London and the war ended, but I promised that I was never going to fight in a war again after that. It was not long after this that I asked Sara to be my wife, and we married. Shortly after I found out that Sara was pregnant with our child, I could not have been happier." but then his face turned serious. "Even to this day I regret I did not stay with her, I wanted to...but I was afraid....afraid to lose the once I loved again and again just like always. Being like this not aging, young forever and ever. How could I face her with that? No I had to leave and never return, I wrote her a letter and left, I am not sure what she did after but I regret what I did....but what has been done can not be undone."

A tear formed in the cat form of Jamin. Suddenly, he felt the need to return to his human form. He paced a few feet away from Mikael before allowing himself to let go of the transformation and returning to his normal human form. He never had noticed the immense similarities to Mikael, but now that he was face to face he could see it. They looked almost as though they could be brothers, they only looked a few years apart. He started at Mikael for a moment, taking it all in, then he took a long, deep breath and began to speak.

"Mikael Moonro, Sara is my great-grandmother. Your daughter, is my grandmother, your granddaughter is my father, and I, Jamin Moonro Colton, am your great-grandson." he said, trying to get the vast majority of it out in one breath so it would be possibly less painful for Mikael to hear. Jamin wasn't exactly sure if he should continue, but he did anyways.

"Sara never forgot about you, and never remarried or fell back in love, she always hoped you would return. She told your daughter the story, your daughter was the only child she had. Your daughter told her only son, my father, about you as well, and then I was born. Your powers certainly skipped a few generations, I am the first of your line to get them. I look like you, it's quite strange. I'm also sort of the opposite. I was born on a leap year, so technically I am only 4." he said, laughing a little bit, "I have to admit though, from the stories I have heard, you are the first person I've met that is similar to me, which is kind of depressing, considering that you are technically my great-grandfather..."

What happened was a large surprised for the man, the cat was not a cat? Had he been tricked by some student to tell his deepest secrets? The man frowned in dislike first and calmly closed his eyes to keep himself calm, but then the boy began to talk and his words made Mikael open his eyes again and looked at him, he did look very much like Mikael actually. But a little different. He listened but he could not believe the words. He simply looked up into the sky and then he shook his head slightly. "and yet you tricked me into something like that? I have to say that the young once have started to lack respect to there elders" he said and as always his voice lacked much emotion in it. "You out up a big claim there my young friend, what makes it that you really are telling the truth?" he now turned the gaze and focused his red eyes onto the man, it was hard to tell what he was feeling since the years had changed his eyes and made them colder.

How dare he? Call him disrespectful? Mikael was in for it, he needed a wake-up call. He really messed up Sara's life by abandoning her. She didn't care that he would never die. She wanted him for him. Jamin wanted to bite him, like really, physically bite him, but he took a deep breath and reached into his sweatshirts pocket, pulling out an antique photo which was folded up. He opened it gently exposing an old photo of Mikael and Sara on their wedding day.

"Enough proof? Do you need me to show you anything else?" he scoffed. If that wasn't enough proof, then Mikael, despite his looks, must be senile. Jamin just rolled his eyes and continued speaking. "Look Mikael. I know who you are, even if you don't know who I am. Because of your stupid genetics, I've been cursed with powers I personally don't want and the appearance of a cat, thank you eyes. And don't get me wrong, I love cats. My point is, if you are going to mope about your life, think a moment about me, and my dad, and his mom, and her mom.. and father i suppose. Think about all these lives you have affected. I was born, and your daughter, your own daughter, gave me my middle name. She used to play pretend with invisible 'Daddies' and use your pictures as her imaginary friends. When I was born, she cried because her imaginary friend had come to life. She gave me your unworthy name as a constant reminder of how you left my family. And you know what, I bought it up, I loved hearing the story of Mikael. I have looked and looked for you, and here I am."
