Evan was very, very happy he'd brought popcorn. He hadn't brought enough of it, obviously, and he offered his second bag to Cori and Tori, who were staring with absolute fucking horror at what was going on.

Skeletons were one thing. Exploding skeletons was a whooole other thing. Evan made a point of shuffling backwards, making sure he was well clear as Straga shifted. He'd seem him shift before, but it never stopped being genuinely impressive, watching him become something so big... and yet still be able to fly.

Cori was sliding behind Evan, as if that would have stopped Straga.

"This is getting good. Fuck 'em up Des!" Phoebe yelled. Destra's other two regalia had enough sensibility to pull her back to a safer distance. The two dragons were clashing with each other. In the air, on the ground, there were points when it the fight would blow over to the group. Straga even fired off a beam of concentrated lightning at the smaller dragon. Still, Destra was matching him physically. He'd managed to lift Straga at one point, and knock him around with reasonable ease. He was even cutting him up with his talons.

Destra had effectively countered his own red lightning before he could even use it. In fact, using it now would just make a bigger mess. Even in their dragon forms Destra was smaller, more maneuverable in the air. He had to force him back onto the ground. He braced as Destra came in for yet another sweep, Straga lunged forward pouncing, pinning Destra down by his wings.

"I-is it over?" Tori asked shakily. It had gotten eerily quiet, Destra struggled, releasing more red lightning for a few moments, but seemed to relax. It seemed like it was over, but something was moving up Straga, using his spikes as hand and footholds.

"Nah Destra's still in it," Set answered with a grin. The skeleton was almost in position, and it seemed like there was a second one he'd made that seemed to be slowly working its way up as well.

The fight was pretty back and forth, and Evan was having a hard time figuring out what was going to happen. Destra had more tricks in his bag, but Straga had more pure skill. At times they were moving so goddamn fast that Evan was having a hard time keeping up with them, and it made him happy he had a clone off elsewhere.

"Is this the part where I call out dramatically?" Evan asked with a small snort, watching the small figure seeming to be climbing up Straga's back.

"Isn't this dangerous?" Cori said, a note of sheer desperation in her voice.

"Nah," Phoebe waved her hand dismissively.
"Oh it's totally dangerous, but eh... I wanna see where this goes,' Aton answered.

Straga was just about to call it when he noticed something in the corner of his eye. Unfortunately it was too late. The skeleton exploeded, kicking sand right into Straga's eye, forcing him to rear up on his hind legs. Destra had shited back into his human form to continue his assault. Straga had shifted back into his human form once again and he was angry. That red electricity crackled from him menacingly. Destra braced himself. It was a feeling of dread, he hadn't even noticed Straga's shadow had changed.

"Okay, now it's officially dangerous," Phoebe said nervously.

Hearing it was dangerous from someone who had probably seen more dragon fights then him was... Not comforting. Not at all. Evan had a lot of experience with dangerous situations, but it was still his policy to not be in one without good cause.

Cori, on the other hand, had no such experience, and it was obvious she was starting to freak out.

Evan grabbed her wrist with one hand, and Tori's with the other, and started to haul then back.

"We are way too close to those two," Evan said. "So let's go right on ahead and get clear."

It wasn't a question.

It wasn't even matching strength with Destra anymore, it was the simple fact that he couldn't hold himself back if he wanted to win. This kid wasn't even a quarter of a century old, and he had more tricks than most members of their clan could dream of. He was much faster, he was hitting harder, more brutal. Destra was only just barely managing to hold his ground againist the onslaught. And any time he began to crackle with his own lightning, Straga was landing another blow.

He'd have to think fast before this got way out of hand.

Evan was not sticking around. He could enjoy the fireworks from a mile away, but as close as they were the likelihood that they were going to get absolutely blown away was too fucking high. He wasn't clear on how aware Straga even was like that. He imagined it was a lot like a human being asked to watch out for one particular ant.

Evan was not going to let himself get stepped on, and he wasn't letting either of the girls. He called out a warning to the remaining Regalia, and then continued to tow Tori and Cori away, not stopping until they were well out of range. He didn't know what kind of range the dragons were packing, but the odds of them accidentally hitting them when they were barely visible in the distance..

Cori looked scared when Evan turned back to her, trembling slightly as she clung to her sister.

Destra was thoroughly occupied with dealing with Straga, but he did notice Evan and the regalia moving to a safer range. Though he could say from personal experience their best bet was finding proper cover. Still, the older dragon had his sights firmly set on him. Destra summoned his swords, while dodging one of Straga's wild attacks.

"Well, I guess we just wait and see who comes back. I wasn't expecting it to get this messy," Aton sighed. Tori was holding onto her sister protectively at this point. Once again, this whole situation was way out of their control.

"How are they fighting like this? Aren't they family or, or something? It's like they wanna kill each other..."

"Probably," Evan said, speculating entirely by pulling shit out of his ass, "It's because Destra's a challenge. Up to this point, the fights have been spars. Straga's always been holding back to keep from injuring him, because Destra was younger and weaker. But now it's different. Destra's putting up a real fight. He's not just sparring, this is a real battle for dominance. So they have to fight like it's a real battle."

Cori shuddered, her fingers digging into Tori's arm as she held her that much closer.

"And you want me to pact with him? He's out of control!" No thank you, she'd stay right where she was.

"You think he'd come at you like that? Dragons are too prideful for that sort of thing. Don't be a coward. Uphold your end of the bargain," Aton said rather coldly. Something about that comment struck a nerve. "This isn't some little fight either, did Straga not tell you their terms? Whoever wins this is the head of their clan. Either things remain as they are, or we're witnessing a coronation of a new king."

Rewards for the victor be damned, Straga needed to be stopped. It was one of those points where it was just hard to tell what was happening again. The back and forth could be heard better than seen, as Destra adapted to Straga's new attack patterns. Destra took the first chance he saw to slash him across the abdomen, followed by a radial pulse of red lightning.

Back with the group, Destra's regalia all had the same knowing looks on their faces as the silence settled in.
