He didn't even know whose head they had been in. Weird. Aranea made a mental note that they should follow up on that later, just to make sure.

"I'm Aranea, and this is Shul. We're scouts for a hidden school for the supernatural, called Starlight Academy. And you are?"

She took another look around, then skittered over to a couch, and shapeshifted so that she had only two legs. "Mind if I sit down?" There had been a lot of climbing and hiking today.

She didn't quite know what to make of this guy, if indeed this was a guy. But she was prepared to give him the whole sales pitch for Manta Carlos. Failing that, they'd just have to talk to him about being a good neighbor to the dragons. Not that this was her job, but hey, she came all this way.

From the sound of it this person didn't have complete control over his powers. Maybe that was the reason he had let the cave and surrounding area be affected my magic so strongly, perhaps he couldn't help it. But before that was all confirmed Shul stayed on his toes, it could also be that this person knew perfectly well what he was doing and this was a trap.
"Hopefully our voices didn't cause any damage. Human kinds can be fragile like that."
Shul said with worry in his voice, he couldn't help but be concerned over the possible effects that going into other person's mind could have. Since human minds really were fragile.

When Aranea introduced Shul as well he smiled and waved a bit, his hand having big black claws since he kept his body partially shifted neck down to keep warm.
"My people live near here, a community of dragons. They noticed your presence, this cave is very close to our territory's border."
Shul explained, keeping his tone friendly, since he didn't want the person to think he was blaming him for trespassing or something.
Shul didn't make any moves to sit down, he rather stood up.

“Ahh, who i am. Heard the question very often, but never asked to… me. I have asked it myself though. Honestly, i don’t know. I’ve been in this cave as long as i can remember, and the crystal ball has raised me by allowing me to peek into the lives of humans…” he smiled, looking to the orb. He was a bit wistful now. He had never known who he was and lived his own life. But perhaps… these two were an opportunity.

“Sure! Make yourself at home. This isn’t really my home anyway. I just… happened to be born here… er, actually. That’s what a human would say. I think from what i learned it’s more accurate to say… I happened to exist here.” He chuckled, as if that was the most normal thing to say. There was some weird irony to him in him trying to communicate, but accidentally being too human in his word and what he said. He looked at the two, who’s traits were denoting their supernatural nature. “I’ve actually never seen anything like you two… or any dragons, outside of in the stories the humans i observed read… am i really close to a whole community of them?”

He stared at the ceiling, wondering how the world around them was really like, and what he really was. The mana of his body flowed like strips of cloth in water, parts of it likely funnelling into the activity of the cave.

Oh. Oh! Aranea's face lit up as she put the pieces together. Though to the world he remained the same, Aranea saw him transform from a vaguely threatening magical entity into a child, isolated from the world, excited to go out into it. There was an entire world of firsts waiting for him outside of this cave. First time going on an airplane. First time meeting a dragon. First time seeing the island and all of the things it held.

Aranea had grown used to those things. She was numb to them. But she could still feel that magic vicariously, and in a way that was more magical than anything this cave could show her.

"You are!" Aranea said. "They're a collection of clans called the Akt'Anir. Shul is actually one of them. I'm sure we'd be able to introduce you to some of the others, if you want." She looked to Shul for confirmation.

She wanted to try to sell him on the idea of moving to the island. It had to be better than hanging out in Plato's Deluxe Cave down here - but they didn't have to rush it. He could dip his toes in first, by going outside and meeting his next door neighbors.

It was hard to keep his suspicion alive, when Shul clearly could see that this creature was well-natured, and upon the revelation of his life and past Shul also learned he had been isolated. Shul could on some level relate to that, although his isolation hadn't been nearly as severe as this creature's, who was still nameless, no less. Shul smiled a bit wider, he was excited to see what kind of name this person would choose for himself.
"Well, it is nice to meet you, no matter whatever you wish to call yourself."

So this person hadn't had a "traditional" birth, as most people would call it. He did seem like the kind of person to be brought to existence not my normal means, he had an...ethereal air about him.
"I hope we don't disappoint."
Shul said with a chuckle, joking a bit to keep the mood relaxed and light. As for when Aranea looked at him for confirmation Shul automatically nodded along, although in his mind he was making calculations how probable it was his community wouldn't be suspicious of this person. The probability of that was...not optimal, but Shul would force them to behave if he had to.
"We could, our guide is still close-by keeping watch so you could start with him if you'd like."
Shul was pretty sure the earth dragons were on the more accepting side, since they had also been the ones to talk the other dragons out of the plan about raiding this cave.

The boy couldn’t help it. The way Aranea’s face lit up, he observed it with great interest. It was the first time he really was looking at this stuff with his very own… uh. ‘Eyes.’ so to speak. There was just something so fascinating about it and being able to assess it yourself, he kind of forgot his mannerisms. “The way your face changes expression. So that’s how it looks like to see hope through my own eyes. Feels weird. I suppose this is what’s called a… giddy feeling?”

He mused to himself, wondering what was going on with himself and what he was feeling. A wash of yellow colouration passed through his mana, although it did not last for long. His aetherial limbs retained their strange bluish complexion soon enough. He listened to the offers of the two, smiling at the idea of dragons, the creatures of myth that humans only heard about in their storybooks. Yet they were so real, like he! The supernatural. A fascinating notion.

“Honestly, i don’t know! I’ve only told other people what decisions I think might work out. Never really made my own decision. Kind of weird to have lived as a voice in people’s head up to now, i realize.” he shrugged. He decided to finally let go of the orb, and somehow, the crystal ball seemed more… flimsy and less impressive in an instant. He stood up at his full 4’11” height. “Hmm, wut do, wut do. What would be the most convenient for other people actually?”

He turned his head to either of them as he casually rocked his body back and forth, adjusting the balance on his feet as he rocked. He had an expectant expression, but a sort of.. Mature calmness to him. He wasn’t an excited kid, despite his size, just a bored adolescent.

Aranea had a feeling that this kid was a good kid. Even if he was all made of wibbly wobbly magic stuff. He was pretty considerate for someone who'd lived in a cave his whole life, but he still had the same remarkable naivete of the new-to-everything. Gods, she was going to blow his mind showing him the island. But in a good way! Not in a new kid syndrome kind of way, where they had nervous breakdowns and thought they were having a coma, but in a 'woah this is cool' kind of way.

She thought about his question for a second.

"I'm not too worried about convenience," she decided. "I think it would be a good experience for you to go out and meet people. Buuut~ before we do that. Is there anyone or anything else that lives here with you?"

She couldn't let her excitement get in the way of being thorough.

Aranea seemed really excited, and it wasn't like Shul wasn't excited too, and happy for this person. They would be able to see the world with their own eyes, and actually talk to people and make friends and not be a bystander. They seemed to really be used to being a bystander, clearly, and even facial expressions were fascinating to them.

"I think the most convenient thing is for you would be to step out of this place and see the world you live in, with your own eyes. This cave is lovely, but the outside world could be even better."
Shul said his own opinion, ultimately agreeing with Aranea. As for the question she asked, Shul had glanced around the cave and it seemed a pretty closed space, and there was no scent of another being besides them three. But naturally Shul probably couldn't completely trust his senses in this place.

Notes:

Sorry it took so long! back from vacation and all that, and finally caught up on multiple places. glad to be continuing.

He looked around himself, at the little ‘dig’ he had in his cave. He thought about ever seeing other people here, either with the crystal ball given to him as a gift or his own eyes. Remembering nothing, he shrugged his arms. “Nope! All alone here. Just me and my looks into other people’s minds and experiences.”

He casually threw a look to his orb. “I dunno if i’ve stood up in a few years time honestly. The ball is so much more.. Interesting than the cave, but I think it’s time I experienced more than just many average human lives.”

He was intrigued by the idea. A reason to get out of this place and see something he couldn’t see through his crystal ball. “I think leaving the cave sounds like a fine idea! But where do i go? Humans wouldn’t much appreciate seeing us, if all the fantasy stories i’ve read through other people’s eyes are to be believed… I’m going to guess you two have a plan though! You sure look like it!”

He smiled and his eyes looked to them with a certain smugness to it. He had been in the head of many humans, and it had helped him look to others and read their expressions. He wondered if they too saw a different angle. One he had never known before.
