Time to relax

"I'm glad people here are so friendly," Aiva said as she followed Enelya to the fuzzy green couch. "Most people, I should say," she said remember the guy and his knives. She shuddered at the thought of the blade almost slicing her nose.

"I'll just try and stay clear of the scary people," she said with a laugh. She glanced around the room. There were a lot less people in the lounge than there was before. She thought maybe the fight had frightened a few people away.

"So, what's the most fun thing to do around here? Where's your favourite place to go?" She asked Enelya.

Enelya looked up at the ceiling in thought, and frowned, she forgot she was inside, and expected to see a pretty sky full of clouds. Only paint, ceiling tiles, and black bands. Then, she looked back at Aiva and smiled.

"The lake at dusk is beautiful... but then again, it depends who your with. The magic of the place is much better when your with someone... you love." She gave a small smirk, remembering the night she had with Kotah, falling asleep in the tree, and then getting up the next morning, and taking a swim. "Or just a plain fun person!" She laughed and jostled Aiva's knee.

"I will definitely keep that in mine," Aiva smiled. She sat cross legged on the couch, feeling relaxed for the first time at Starlight Academy. She began to think of her mother, father and two brothers whom she left behind. She was surprised to find herself missing them. Especially her brothers, for she didn't think she would miss there company. Then, she reminded herself of the feelings of jealousy and anger towards her brothers. How she wished she were more like them. As if it were magic, she didn't miss them anymore.

"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" She questioned, coming back to reality.

"I...I...I don't know... Well, Archimedes is my brother... if you don't count the fact we aren't the same species. He's my lizard-friend. I found him whenever I was a child... And practically raised him. I guess you could say he is more of my son, but, we have a very brother/sister relationship." Enelya laughed, remembering her crazy lizard-friend, and wondered what he was up to at the moment. Probably off trying to find another lady friend, since the other one didn't work out too well.

"What about yourself? How did your family... react?"

"Well, they were surprised, but not as surprised as you'd think. My brother also has powers, but he likes his life as it is, and didn't want to come to this school. He likes to pretened that he's...well..normal." She didn't like using the word normal. She wanted to think that everyone was normal, even if they had special powers.

"But they were surprised because I only found out recently. With my brother, we knew from the day he was born. When he was a baby, he'd cry, like all babies, but the temperature of the room would get so hot, sometimes so hot things would begin to melt. He specializes in fire. It happens when he's angry. He can control his power a lot better than me. My other brother doesn't have any powers...so far."

She shifted on the couch to get more comfortable.

Enelya snorted. Normal? How overrated.

"Well, your brother is living a life many of us here could never get away with. I tried it.. But, I don't remember enough of my life to know how that worked out, guess it didn't because I'm here. I don't think you should have to hide your powers though, they are gifts, from a higher being, and you should appriciate them. Even though... they can often times be a curse. That's why I was so grateful that it doesn't matter here. Everyone here has them, and so it's okay, to be what others consider 'wierd, or different'. Besides, who are they to say we are wierd? What if its them who got left out of the 'higher being gene pool'?" Enelya gave out a little laugh, and winked.

She gave Aiva a gentle smile of understanding and hope, that maybe she could have a happy life here, without her family. Enelya didn't know what family was like, so she didn't really miss it. Though often times she would wonder about it.

"Your right. What if we're the normal ones? And people without powers are not normal? I never thought of it that way." Aiva was suddenly feeling happier. She felt proud of her powers. For the first time in her life, she was glad she had powers.

There was silence for a few seconds. Aiva was trying to think of something to say when she remember something. "What's the fall festival about?" she asked, "I saw a poster for it and it looks like it could be fun." She smiled.

Enelya smiled, remembering what she and Kotah were planning... and smiled. "It's like a little ball, welcoming Fall I suppose. I don't really know what it is. But I might be going to it. Haven't really decided yet. What about you? Are you going to find a date and go?"

Aiva laughed. "A date?" She had never had a date in her life, and although she was planning her changing her life around, she didn't think that things would change that quickly.

"Probably not. I don't know many people here, you're one of the first people I have met, actually."

Enelya laughed, "Well with that attitude your not going to! You have to be postive." She winked, "Anyways, sometimes festivals are more fun with friends!" She smiled and her eyes gleamed.
