Frederick didn't flinch when Godfrey yelled, closing the distance between them and yelling. He was used to the yelling. He'd expected it. He scowled, his annoyance growing, and he took a moment to recompose himself, letting out a deep breath.

"I was helping you realize how important things were. How important you could have been. Gallant was a symbol, and you let the line die with you. Instead you wanted to... what, run off and be a villain? It's petty."

If Godfrey took a swing at him, he was going to regret it. Realistically speaking, he was probably going to regret anything he did, wasn't he?

Some of his first memories we're the burns on the back of his neck. Being dragged up stairs by his hair. Going to bed hungry.

"You could always come clean. Prove you're the hero you pretend to be. Let people see you for the abusive piece of shit are. Or I can drag you down myself."

He was getting angry. If this kept up, he couldn't be sure he wouldn't throw the first punch. But he couldn't do that. Or else Gallant would win. Like he always had. So Broen backed off. Took a breath. And turned to walk into the community center. But he paused for another moment and said,

"You could also suck off a shotgun."

People could probably hear him from the community center now. But he didn't care. "Give me my powers back you piece of shit. Or I'll report you for unlawful use of powers on a citizen. A student, no less."

But he snapped his fingers just the same, and Godfrey would have his powers back just like that.

"Stop yelling. You aren't a child," he chided, the annoyance still there and becoming more obvious with every second. "You had a chance to be something more than just a person, and you missed it. You're not a part of the legacy anymore anyway, even if you wanted to be."

Broen cracked a grin and looked over his shoulder at Fredrick. He normally hated grandstanding and monologuing. But that didn't mean he wasn't capable of it. And he knew that at the end of the day, that kind of thing was all Fredrick knew.

"You don't know how wrong you are. My powers are my own. Earned with my own blood and sweat. Because I lost the powers of your shitty legacy when I stepped up to the plate and played hero here on the island."

"And I don't want your legacy. I'm going to make my own. And your only place in it is a footnote of how that crown you love so dearly fell from your head. Because you're not fucking worthy."
