Adeloise laughed, but unlike her usual giggles, it almost sounded too proud. "Well, if it wasn't for the family thing, I'm pretty sure I'd be in one of those. Money isn't too much of an issue for us. Right, Hal?" Adeloise waited for her uncle's answer but later turned back to Henry. In her point of view, it had never been an issue. She didn't grow up worring about spendings and all that--surely, they could afford an all-girl's boarding school for her. If she didn't know, they were just probably being modest with sending her brother to Eton!.

The petite girl stepped forward, walking past the other three and past the entrance of the space station, revealing the city glowing in the sun. Adeloise missed getting to stroll in the city! It was so lively and everything seemed to glow (aside from the things that actually glowed for real). Her voice seemed soft as she turned around to face the boys. "But I guess that doesn't really matter; even if Starlight isn't all that posh and fancy, I don't think there's any other school around that has magic classes. And the island is really grand in itself."

When Adeloise turned to Hal with a question, all he responded to her was just a shrug of his shoulders. He was pretty sure they could afford getting into expensive schools but it never really crossed his mind that much. All he really wanted was to graduate and take over the family business back then but moving to Starlight reminded him he should grow up first. In any case, he was thankful for being in Manta Carlos, grand or not.

The next question then came from the younger boy Henry. He shouldn't have been surprised -- it was such a common question, especially among newer students of the island, but the way his eyebrows rose seemed to show that he was. "I'm psychic like Adeloise, but a different sort. I see spirits like her, but not as well. I mainly do astral projection but other than that," Hal paused, raising his a hand just a bit in front of him. For a moment he closed his eyes, focusing the energies in his body to his hand until a spark appeared and produced little sparks of electricity. He held it for a moment that way.

"I've got electrokinesis I think." As soon as he said that, the spark of light suddenly burst out of his palms, straight into the concrete before them. He looked alarmed for a second until the smoke cleared out, showing a spot that was scorched as if lightning had struck the pavement. He needed more practice with that. "Yeah, that's why.

"What about you though, Adeloise never told me anything."

The City was a big place. Probably not as big as Sheffield, but it's still a city, and that made him feel a little homesick. Being here hadn't really been his choice. A letter showed up and mum and dad talked, then all of a sudden he'd been pulled out of school and sent here, of all places. An island in the middle of nowhere.

Astral projection wasn't a word he's heard before. Astral meant stars, he remembered, because of astronauts, and projection... well, there were projectors at school, that made things show up on the screen from the computer. That didn't make any sense. The electricity, though. That was straightforward and cool.

"Can you electrocute - power things with that?" Henry asked. "Like, charge a computer or a tablet, or start a dead battery in a car?" He's once been stuck on the road with the battery in dad's car dead. That wasn't fun.

"I... I can read thoughts, 'n memories, but I can't talk to people through their heads. And I can't do the weird things some other telepaths can do," Henry said, seriously. "And once I hurt somebody. Real bad. Just by thinking. Which was why I had to come here." His said the last part much quieter.

Hi-ho wall of text ahead xD;;

Adeloise seemed entertained seeing her Uncle Hal look more open, clapping in the background when he'd demonstrated his magic. It was really cool, she thought! She was quite envious of it actually; not only could he do projections, he also had psychokinesis on his side. Her on the other hand, she could only see spirits. It was a buff on her confidence that Hal recognized her ability to be stronger but it wasn't the same when all she could do was let spirits possess her body smoothly if she let them. Mediumship was scary sometimes though since she could feel what the spirits feel once they leave her.

She pushed the thought away and kept up with their conversation but it seemed she ran out of words as the two talked among themselves. The medium felt a cool breeze on her shoulder, automatically recognizing it as Adrien's comforting hand. The brief mention of reading thoughts seemed to go over her head but she had a curious, maybe slightly concerned look on her as he brought up having hurt someone before being sent to the school.

Hal seemed to be in thought for about a second, recalling a time he'd ever tried it. "I haven't actually tried it myself but I probably could," he told Henry. "I used to have problems about accidentally short circuiting a lot of gadgets before so I avoided a lot of electronics until a few months back." Hal seemed to laugh at the memory; job-hunting had gone weird because he'd crossed out every shop that had electronics or even anything that seemed to run with some force of energy only because he didn't want to cause trouble. "You know what? I'm going to try that one time and see if it works and I'll tell you about it."

Without Adeloise interrupting, Hal seemed to fall into the conversation casually. Maybe it was just because he had this presupposed opinion on his cousin that he wasn't too close of her or something else.

He seemed to stop at the mention of mind reading though, giving Henry some raised eyebrows for a moment but his expression immediately softened as he continued. Hal had never had the trouble of hurting anyone with his own power -- in fact the most probable reason he was sent there was mostly from being around power fluctuations too often to be coincidence rather than his mishaps of disconnecting with his physical body. Still, he sympathized with the boy as the guilt seemed clear enough for him to see.

A sigh went past him and he reached out his hand on the boy's fluffy head. Hal ruffled it slightly, a habit he'd picked up as he grew up, all while he searched for the words no one said to him when he first moved to the island. When he spoke, his voice was quiet and only the two of them would hear. "Hey, don't think of it as a bad thing. I know it sounds like it, but they brought us here so we could learn about our powers, not because you did something wrong. Whatever that might have been, I'm sure no one would have wanted to happen, and you might not have had much control then. You'll get a chance to fix that -- Everything's gonna be great, you'll find good friends, and one day, you'll be back home again better than ever."
