Active Abilities:
Fire - Thomasin, like her father, can breathe fire. She is able to exhale a constant cone of flame that reaches out 15 feet from herself. The fire is so hot that iron and steel will warp and melt after a few moments of exposure. She can only maintain a breath for 15 seconds at the most before needing to breathe in again, and she can only produce 4 minutes of flame an hour. She is able to create small sparks and small blasts of fire that allow her to light small fires or torches at will, but not if she is out of breath or wind.
Flight - Thomasin can fly, though her wings are too small for serious long-distance flights. At most she can fly for an hour before needing to touch down and rest. She is able to glide with relative ease, however gliding under her own weight is just as tough as flying, and cannot be maintained much longer than normal flight.
Passive Abilities:
Ageless and increased recovery- Dragonewts are effectively ageless, and will not die from old age. They can be killed by many traditional means such as large-scale trauma, and or illness. On that note, they also possess an improved rate of healing over their human counterparts. While they cannot grow back a limb, they are able to recover from moderate and minor wounds with relative ease. (Usually about half the time of a human.) large or life-threatening wounds still take large amounts of time to heal, though these healing times are slightly reduced thanks to their dragon heritage. They are also immune to most forms of illness, provided they take care of themselves.
Hardened Scales, claws, and horns- Over several parts of her body there are overlapping scales. These scales are incredibly tough and are almost impossible to pierce or cut. They do not cover her entire body, leaving much of her exposed to normal attacks. Her claws and horns are made of similar material to her scales and are incredibly tough. They are not indestructible though, and they can be worn down, or even broken in the right situations. (Ie. overuse, large trauma, etc.)
Fireproof - She breathes fire. Fire is not going to be able to hurt her.
Biography:
Thomasin's story begins in much the same way as many dragonewts stories began. A dragon seduces a human woman and nine months later a dragonewt is born. In this case, Thomasin's father was an old and powerful dragon who would pass through town in human form for one night. He was handsome and suave, dressed in the finest fabrics, and throwing money around on his search for a good time. Her mother, who lived in a state of poverty, was easily seduced by the handsome young man's money and good looks and gave into his physical demands without much resistance.
When she awoke in the morning, after a night of passion, the young man was gone, leaving only a single gold coin on her pillow, and unknown to her at the time, a child in her womb. She never did see that dashing young man again, nor did he ever return in any form to check up on his conquest.
Thomasin was born premature, seven months, leaving everyone in shock. Her scales, wings, and tail were at first mistaken to be demonic traits and she was nearly drowned as an infant, if not for one ill-placed sneeze that caught the midwives dress on fire. It was this one incident that saved her, not because the superstitious people of her town cared for dragons, but rather they feared the return of her father if they put her down.
Thomasin's life was not easy, however. She was heavily stigmatized by her peers in youth and the adults of her town. It was because of this that she learned she needed to watch out for herself, even at a young age. This suited her just fine as most people tended to hinder her anyways. If they weren't actively working against her, they were too weak to actually benefit her. Even her mother had disdain for the young dragonewt, often calling her a mistake and an abomination.
To complicate matters further, Thomasin was not your average girl. Aside from her draconic heritage, she also boasted another dark secret that rendered her stigmatized by those who knew. She was, in fact, a Hermaphrodite. She had been born with both sets of genitals. Growing up it would quickly be discovered that her body developed more like the body of a female, which suited her fine, as she believed herself to be a girl. However, the awkward circumstance with her downstairs left her feeling confused and at times more self-aware and awkward as she aged. It was also another point of insult for her mother to use to lash out at her with.
By the time Thomasin was 14, she had had enough. She left her home, her mother, and her village and made for the city of Paris where she planned to become an actress. For almost two years Thomasin lived on the streets, avoiding most people as much as she could. She knew her appearance would bring about unwanted attention. All the while she waited for her chance to land an audition and become a star. She figured for sure that her exotic look would be the thing that helped her break into the scene. This opportunity never came, not as far as she ever saw.
Not long after turning 16 she was employed by a local crime syndicate as a courier. She fell into this life easily and was surprised at how well she could do this job. Slowly she amassed a name for herself as a reliable employee in the French Criminal underworld. Given her unique abilities, she was able to move packages with ease, and protect them if she needed to.
It took eleven years from the point that she first started working as a courier before she was noticed and picked up by the scouts of Manta Carlos. She fought them hard, fearing, at first, that they were working for a rival gang trying to intercept her during a delivery. After all, was explained she continued to fight because she did not want to leave the only life where she had been happy. It was impossible to leave her though, as her presence in Paris threatened the Veil of Secrecy around nonhumans and superhumans.
She is new to the island, and not particularly happy about being here. Despite that she has attempted to start her business over again here on the island, offering her services to anyone who might have the cash to pay for a reliable courier.
Additional Information:
-Thomasin will often times get the hiccups if she breathes fire too often or too hard. these hiccups result in an adorable squeak and a little spark. She finds them incredibly embarrassing.
