As she flew around his head, Cade rolled his eyes around to try and follow her so that he wouldn't lose sight of her, because she was so tiny. He stopped after a few seconds and closed his eyes because he was now feeling a light sensation of vertigo from doing that too much. To answer her question, he opened his eyes again and said. "I'm eighteen."
Ari stoped flying around and just stopped in front of his face again so they were looking eye-to-eye. "I'm a hundred and eight." She laughed slightly. "Though that's infairy years, which are way shorter than human years. I'm actually about sixteen."
What? Fairies age faster than humans? Whoa...That was the thought in Cade's mind when she explained her age in 'fairy years'. She actually wasn't much younger than him in human years. When he looked in her in the eyes, he was tempted to pluck her way with his finger, but he didn't. "Cool..."
Ariana went back to her perch on his shoulder, and looked up into the sky. She saw some of the constelations and pointed to one. "Big Dipper." Then to another one. "Little Dipper." She sighed in weariness and absently rested her shoulder against his neck.
Cade looked up into the night sky and noticed the things that the girl had pointed out, constellations, from stars. "Cool..." He suddenly felt a tingling feeling in his neck. It was her leaning against it, truly difficult to see with the naked eye. He took a deep breath then closed his eyes.
"No, I'm not going to sleep. I'm admiring the peacefulness of this environment." he answered with his eyes still closed. He opened his eyes again and reached his hand out behind his back to get a hold of his ponytail. He grabbed the barette holding the ponytail and removed it. His hair was now loose. He looked over to see the fairy still on his shoulder. It was easy to forget that she was even there. He couldn't feel her at all. "It's really hard to see you."
As his hair tumbled down around her, she jumped off his shoulder and let herself fall a few feet through the air before she flew back up to in front of his face. "That better?" She puhed an annoying strand of her hair out of her eyes and behind her ear.
Cade shook his head to rid himself of some loose hair in his face. When he did that, there was the girl, in front of his face again. Again, he had to fight the urge to pluck her when he said "Yeah, that's better."
