Broen wasn't insulted, thankfully, rather he laughed along a bit. Hwum wad starting to feel more at ease, and she leaned against the table and listened as Broen explained more about himself.
"It's unreasonable to try and fit anyone into a box, people have many hidden and unexpected sides that make them impossible to be described by simple words."
Hwum answered, contributing her own opinion with a surprisingly serious tone and expression. She knew what Broen was talking about.
"I promise I won't do any of that. Please just be yourself."
And now Hwum's smile was back, as she aimed it at Broen.

The way of life Broen described didn't sound healthy, at least Hwum thought so, and naturally she was concerned. But at the same time she realized they weren't exactly friends, or not yet, and even if Hwum tried to scold or give Broen advice he'd dismiss it or get angry.
"I won't be surprised. Please take care of yourself."
Hwum said with a small smile, but didn't bother hiding the worry on her face. That much Hwum could say, right? Ask Broen to take care. Although Broen did seem like a very independent person, Hwum admired that.

"Me? Oh, that was all about me. I'm here to be on my own, after all. I couldn't possibly ask too much of you."
Hwum said with a cheery smile. She was determined to survive on her own, be independent and not rely on other for everything like before. She would buy her own food, go to school on her own and perhaps even go to the city on her own. Someday.

Broen watched Hwum in the dim light offered by the sliver in the blackout curtains. He had to rotate slightly further than normal to see her properly with his good eye, but that was whatever. After a few seconds he nodded and gave a small grunt of understanding.

"Good for you. Being all independent and shit. But don't be one of those bitches who says they don't need anything and then complain behind your back when you don't read their mind about what they want."

He slid off the couch, falling into his pocket dimension and appearing next to Hwum, standing up once again. He was getting better at moving his dimension around him for faster travel. Tapping her on the shoulder, he gave her a smirk and extended his hand for her to shake. "Seems like we have a kind of understanding then."

It felt nice to be complimented for her attempt at being independent. And although the advice Broen gave right after was again worded bit crudely he was basically telling Hwum to not go back in her word and place unrealistic expectations on herself or others. They were wise words, and Hwum nodded a bit.
"Thank you for the advice. Complaining isn't something I usually do, but do feel free to call me out on it if I don't live up to my word."
Hwum was pretty sure Broen would've called her out on it even if she didn't say it, but this was in a way for her to say that if Broen did it Hwum wouldn't be mad or offended since she had given him permission.
"But I cannot give promises about talking behind your back, as I most likely will call to you when you have your back turned to me. So please bear with me."
Hwum chuckled at her own, sad attempt at joking.

It would probably take Hwum a while before she'd get used to the disappearing Broen kept doing, and when he teleported from the couch over to Hwum and tapped her shoulder she jumped a bit. She spun to face Broen, and then looked down at the hand he was offering. It felt somehow a big thing, and Hwum couldn't help but smile a bit more widely as she took Broen's hand and shook it firmly.
"Seems like we do! I have a very good feeling about this, I hope we'll get along."
Then again Hwum had a good feeling almost about everything. But she had made a thorough plan about this living in the dorms thing, and Hwum was sure that whatever would happen she could cover it. Almost certainly.
"Ah, do you need any help unpacking? I'm quite strong, I could carry any possible furniture you have!"

Alright that was fine. At least they had a basic understanding of one another. Broen, for his part, couldn’t help but laugh a bit at her reaction. At least she wasn’t some kind of crazy blind ninja who could sense him before he even showed up somewhere. Made his life easier. He shook her hand loosely, offering a strong grip but a loose arm. Casual.

“Nah,” he said, gesturing over his shoulder to the backpack on the kitchen counter. “That’s all I have. Just some clothes, mostly. It ain’t a big deal.” He hoped at least she wouldn’t make a big deal out of it. He had never really had a lot since he had left his childhood home. But he’d also never really felt like he needed a lot either.

Hwum was rather good at sensing people's presence, but the way Broen just...disappeared from existence only to pop out somewhere else kept her on her toes. But Hwum was determined to get used to it, and perhaps even start to predict it. It could also serve as practice, Hwum tried to treat most situations she wasn't used to as practice. Bettering oneself was always but a good thing!

Hwum peeked past Broen to look at the backpack he gestured to, and surprisingly she merely smiled. She felt somehow happy Broen was same as her. Hwum had traveled light as well, she hadn't brought any personal belongings from the Akt'Anir, and she had slept in the guest room when living with Fweiu so she didn't have any furniture.
"I see! Then I see we both like to travel light, I merely has three boxes. Well, less light in my case, most of my things were just rocks."
Hwum laughed a bit, and suddenly looked like she got an idea.
"I know, if you ever get a craving for some decorations in your room I could make you a statue, if you wish of course. You could consider it a housewarming gift. It would also serve as great practice for me."
Hwum suggested, naturally giving Broen a way out if he'd rather not have a statue.

"Nah, I don't like gifts," he said nonchalantly, teleporting over to his backpack to sling it over his shoulder. "Nothing against you. Just a me thing. Don't make a big deal about it."

He vanished again, jumping into his room and throwing his stuff onto his bed and then reappearing sitting on the couch again. She wasn't used to him moving around like this, but that wasn't his problem. "If you want to practice though, I know some motherfuckers who are more sentimental than me. They might like something sometime. I dunno."

His hands itched. His knuckles, specifically. He needed to hit something. He'd realized during his time gone why he felt so twitchy all the time. He just didn't know how to feel about it yet, other than it being more proof that he was messed up in the head. "I'm probably gonna bounce soon. I gotta take care of some stuff." He paused, making a face. "I'll pick up some night lights to plug along the walls. Keep it dark enough for you and give me enough light to move around with."

Hwum just nodded when Broen nonchalantly said he didn't like gifts, everyone couldn't like everything after all and Hwum accepted that.
"Alright then! Thank you for telling me, now I know to just sing for you on your birthday."
Hwum joked a bit, and chuckled. She had heard of this custom of singing and giving someone gift on their birthday and she found it charming. Well, she didn't know when Broen's birthday was, but maybe she would find out someday.

This time Hwum didn't get as startled when Broen suddenly disappeared, and she could hear him appear again in his room. And when he appeared again on the couch Hwum flinched just a bit. She was getting the hang of this.
"You do? If you could be so nice and ask them then I would be very grateful. I always appreciate chances to improve, and better someone's day."
Hwum was pleasantly surprised Broen had suggested that, she had partly accepted Broen would most probably want to keep his distance from Hwum. But if he was willing to introduce his acquaintances to Hwum then perhaps there was a chance that they could be friends.

Hwum didn't see the face Broen made clearly, but even if she had she wouldn't have asked. Hwum was going to give Broen the privacy he wished for.
"Oh, I wasn't aware that there was lights like that. I would really appreciate that. Please tell me afterwards how much they cost, since they are of use to both of us I'll pay half."
Hwum was glad they could agree on a compromise like that, it would make life easier for both of them.
"In that case I'll see you later. It's about time for me to go and sleep a bit. Stay safe on your travels."
